    Q
When and how do I apply Advion Roach Bait Gel?
After moving into my apartment last week I noticed right away that we had a roach problem. I immediately called to have exterminators come out and spray. But because of the apartment complex I live in (many roach complaints) I don't think they are going to go away with just one spray so I went online and found Advion Roach Bait Gel. I bought it and intend to apply it when it comes in. The problem is, I have read that it cannot be applied where the repellent has been sprayed. Since I don't know where the exterminators sprayed how should I go about applying it? Should I wait a certain length of time for the repellent to fade? Or if I clean the house first and then lay the bait down will it be fine? Please help, I really want the baits to work. I am terrified of roaches and am so uncomfortable being in my home.
    A

You should place Advion Roach Bait Gel out as often as needed.  Baits and sprays are not used in the same areas.  We have a great video here on where you should be placing the bait.  We also recommend that you use an IGR (insect growth regulator) in addition to the bait.  This will help prevent the infestation from getting larger while you are eliminating it.  We have a great guide here on treatment as well.

    Q
How soon after spraying Talstar P can I use Advion Roach Bait Gel?
I bought the Advion Roach Bait Gel and then sprayed Talstar P before I was told not to. We still see live roaches.
    A

When using Advion Roach Bait Gel it should be applied up high in areas that you do not spray, but they can be used around the same time.  We have a great video here that shows where to apply the bait.   Sprays such as Talstar P, would be applied down low, along base boards, behind the fridge/stove etc where you do not place the bait.  We have a great video here that shows where to spray for perimeter and interior spraying.

If you sprayed where you should be applying bait, you would want to thoroughly wash the area to remove any residual spray and then apply the bait as needed and directed on the label.

    Q
How long will the roaches be gone when using Advion Roach Bait gel?
    A

How long it takes to eliminate a roach infestation depends on how large the infestation is, how consistent and thorough you are being with treatments and what products you are using.  There is not a set time; it can take but it can take weeks or months even to get complete control. Advion Roach Bait gel is typically not used alone but in combination with other products. We would recommend one of our roach control kits. You can see the kits by clicking on the link here. We also have a great article for eliminating them that can offer some great advice; you can find it here.

    Q
Can I still cook and eat while baits such as Advion Roach Bait Gel are set?
If I place bait in strategic areas, is it still safe for me to cook food and eat in those areas or keep near plates, dried foods, etc?
    A

When used as directed it is safe to use Advion Roach Bait Gel in areas that you would cook and eat as it should not contact food prep surfaces or dishes/utensils. We have a great video here that shows where to apply the bait. You can see the video by clicking on the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kSzVucMtA0

    Q
Should I rotate to a new product such as Maxforce from the Advion Roach Bait Gel?
I've been using this product for 3 months and definitely noticed a very small population left. However they only eat bait I put near my sink (I assume it's because they look for dirty dishes but I wash them every night and keep the sink spotless so they eat the bait). I continued to put bait near my sink and it's completely eaten every night. I think the population might be growing because I'm suddenly seeing a few more than normal. Should I keep using this bait or be moving on to something else?
    A

Yes, we do recommend rotating baits every few months to avoid bait aversion and bait resistance. We make bait rotation easy for you as we put a different bait in each of our roach control kits. If you are currently using the Advion Roach Bait Gel we do advise using Maxforce FC Magnum that is included in the roach control kit roation A

Can Advion Roach Bait Gel kill ants?
    A

While both Advion Roach and Advion Ant Bait Gels have the same active ingredient, their other ingredients could be different to target the pests they are specifically labeled for. Therefore, we would recommend to use Advion Roach Bait Gel for roaches and Advion Ant Bait Gel for Ants - see labels for a specific list of target pests for each product.

    Q
Can I put some Advion Cockroach Gel Bait near the stove, or will it attract more roaches?
I see them coming out from the stove range hood. I just moved to an apartment a month ago and have had problems with German roaches.
    A

You could bait near the stove (and other areas in the kitchen) to attract them, but you may notice more activity as any of the baits that you select including Advion Roach Bait do contain food attractants and this is normal. You will want to place new bait out every two weeks (cleaning up old bait first). We suggest using the products in our Roach Control Kits. You can find a guide for bait placements in our Roach Control Treatment Article.

  • Asked by Ben from Bridgeton, Missouri

    Q
What do I do if my dogs ate a little of the Advion Roach Bait Gel I put down?
Are they in any danger or is there anything I need to look out for or do? I have 3 pit bulls I believe 2 of them ingested about 12 to 15 dots. one of the dogs is 12 and one is 3.
    A

Typically with that small of an amount there is no need for worry. More than 90% of the baits are made up of food based ingredients which is what attracts the roaches to it to take back to the colony. If you are concerned you can monitor your dogs and contact Syngenta directly regarding any side effects they may have from what little they ingested. Also, keep in mind that any place you are putting this bait gel should be in an area the pets cannot get to anyways, so you may not want to put the bait in the same places again if the pets have easy access to those areas. You can reach Syngenta at 302-425-2000.

    A

There is no need to worry about any type of issues from your dog eating roaches that have been in contact with Advion Roach Bait Gel. There is only enough insecticide in these products to kill a roach, not enough to have any effect on a mammal.

    Q
What if your dog eats about half a tube of Advion Roach Bait Gel?
My dog was in her cage when we left and she ate half a tube.

According to the the Advion Roach Bait Gel MSDS:

    "Potential Health Effects:
Based on animal testing, no biologically significant effects are expected from skin or eye contact or by ingestion."

You should still read and follow the product label which recommends that you use the roach bait gel in places that will be inaccessible to your pet. Of course, if you see any unusual behavior or signs of sickness, you should consult a veterinarian.

  • Asked by Claudia from Buda, Texas

    Q
Is it normal for some roaches not to eat Advion Roach Bait Gel?
So I put down the product on a Friday night. I was told to clean the kitchen and leave no food or water. I did as told. And as a result it seemed to work perfectly. I've seen dead roaches for the past few days. But it hasn't been a week and I've noticed some roaches won't eat it anymore. Mainly some of the baby ones. Is it normal? I have not been mixing any other products.
    A

Yes, it is normal for some roaches to not go directly to a bait such as Advion Roach Bait Gel and eat it. It can often be that they are feeding on some that has been brought back to the colony already, feeding on the feces of the adults, or feeding on other dead roaches. They also could be looking for water or other materials and not currently foraging for the bait. Depending on the size of the colony, it can take at least several weeks to a month or so to eliminate the entire population. If you have used the same bait for several months, than we would recommend rotating with a different bait to prevent bait aversion. Good rotation choices would include Maxforce FC Magnum or Maxforce Impact Roach Bait Gel.

  • Asked by Angela from Los Angeles
    01/27/2016
    Q
Is Advion Roach Bait Gel safe for inside cabinets, cupboards?
Do I need to empty out the cabinets with dishes and utensils? What if roaches crawl on them after ingesting the bait? Also, I've only seen roaches in the kitchen but the infestation has been going on for a few months now. Should I bait other parts of the house even though I've only seen them in the kitchen?
    A

Yes, Advion Roach Bait Gel is safe for use inside of cabinets, drawers, etc. You do not need to empty out your cabinets. You will be placing the bait in pea sized points in the corners of the cabinets and drawers so this product will not come in contact the bait unless it is dropped on it. If you are concerned around the roaches walking over utensils, we would recommend washing them before use. We would recommend baiting where you have seen activity, such as areas with water sources. Please check out our Roach Guide for information on how to treat and prevent roaches in the future.

  • Asked by Shannon from Deland, Fl

    Q
Is Advion Roach Bait Gel safe around kids and babies? Can you use it in a car?
I have an 8 month old and 6 month old as well as an occasional 14 month old. I also have a 9 and 6 year old and occasional 8 year old that all ride in my car. I just discovered an infestation in my center console. Roaches are a phobia (I know they're normal in Florida), but I have a serious phobia so this is a big deal. I don't want any of us in the car, but we don't have a choice.
    A

Advion Roach Bait Gel is safe around children when applied as directed. You are applying in areas that children do not frequent so they should not come in contact with it. It may be better to use Advion Roach Bait Arena in your vehicle because it is more versatile. Be sure to remove any competing food sources such as crumbs or other materials for the most effective treatment.

  • Asked by Ken from Palm Bay, Fl

    Q
Did Advion Roach Bait Gel change the formula after buying rights from Dupont to Syngenta?
I've read that more recent reviews are saying that Advion changed the formula of the product and is no longer as effective as it is. Most reports from recent post late 2015 into 2016. Also, read the used by date is important, how do I know if the product I buy is as effective and and not old?
    A

Advion Roach Bait Gel contains the same active ingredient and formulation now as it was when it was manufactured by DuPont. Syngenta has only changed the packing to match the rest of their product line. It should be used within one year from the date of purchased (stored away from extreme temperatures). It should be reapplied once every two weeks (cleaning up previous bait placements). For more information, please take a few moments to review our article on How to Get Rid of Roaches for a successful roach control program.

  • Asked by John from Bronx, Ny
    03/12/2016
    Q
Can applying too much of the Advion Roach Bait Gel become harmful? It appeared the bait began to smell is that normal?
    A

Advion Roach Bait Gel has no odor as listed on the Safety Data Sheet but should only be applied is small pea size drops as this is more attractive to roaches  Place every 10-12 inches where activity is noted.  Applying too much would just make the roaches less likely to eat it.  There are food based attractants in the product but any possible smell would not be harmful.  It would only be harmful if you were to physically ingest a large quantity of the bait.
