Advion Ant Bait Gel

It is highly recommended to also use Advance 375A Ant Granular Bait which is a protein bait.  You should always give ants a choice as they may be in the mood for either a protein (granule) or a sugar (gel) bait.

ADVION ant bait gel is specifically formulated to be tasty to all major species of ants. Advion ant gel contains the new active ingredient, Indoxacarb, a powerful, nonrepellent insecticide. The slight delay in death caused by Indoxacarb, encourages ants to eat the bait and return to the nest site to share the bait with other ants, eventually killing the entire colony. Use of Advion will help eliminate ants within days of application.

We provide 1 Plunger PER ORDER to expel the bait from the tubes.  You can purchase extra plungers or you can purchase a bait gun, such as the Masterline Professional bait gun, for use with this product.

How Advion Ant Bait Gel Works

Advion Ant Bait Gel takes advantage of the natural behavior of ants. Foraging worker ants are attracted to the sweet formula of the bait. After consuming the bait, the foraging ants will return to the nest and share the bait with the rest of the colony, including the queen(s). By ingesting the active ingredient Indoxacarb the ant’s nervous system is disrupted, ultimately ending in death.

Indoxacarb is an oxadiazine pesticide originally manufactured and patented by DuPont. Since Indoxacarb is the only chemical in its class, it offers laboratory-tested benefits that other pesticides simply cannot duplicate. For starters, Indoxacarb remains active even after digestion so it can be passed along to other insects through bait sharing. It is the first pest control bait that scientists have found to remain active after it has been transferred twice after the first lethal dose. Passing poison like this from one insect to another is known as horizontal transfer.

Target Pests

All major species of ants

PESTS CONTROLLED WITH ADVION ANT BAIT GEL: all major species of ants, including Acrobat, Argentine, Big-headed, Carpenter, Cornfield, Crazy, Field, Ghost, Harvester, Honey, Little black, Odorous house, Pavement, Pharaoh, Pyramid, Red Imported Fire Ant, Rover, Thief, and White-footed

Target Uses

Advion Ant Bait Gel can be used whenever listed ants are present and foraging for sweets. Bait is simple and convenient to use, and it is ideal in situations where sprays may not be desired. Baits have extremely low toxicity in mammals, so they are safe to use in sensitive areas. Baits are also applied in cracks and crevices, so application is discreet. Advion Ant Bait Gel lets the ants take the product to the colony for you, avoiding the guesswork of finding a nest.

Advion Ant Bait Gel is also very light in color, making it ideal for placements on lighter surfaces where darker baits would be noticeable.

ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Indoxacarb 0.05%

Advion Ant Bait Gel Application Instructions

Unscrew the blue tip that comes on the tube of gel. Replace with the enclosed long application tip to assist in applying gel bait directly into crack and crevices. Remove and clean the application tip after use, cleaning as needed, and replace with the closed cap before storing to keep gel from drying.

ADVION ant gel should be applied as spots of gel or small lines of gel.

  1. Placements of spots or lines of gel should be close to active foraging trails, nest sites, or to areas known to be active.
  2. Apply approximately 1/4" in. diameter spots (about the size of a pea).
  3. Apply lines of ADVION ant bait gel of approximately 1/8" wide and 2" long; up to 3" long for highly active foraging trails.
  4. Apply as many placements as possible to active trails or foraging areas without disrupting the natural behavior of the ants.

Advion ant bait gel may be used effectively in ant bait stations.

*Always read the product label completely before use.

**Do not disturb the natural behavior of trailing ants or foraging ants, placements should be made NEAR the ants, but not on them or in the middle of the trail. By disrupting their normal behavior, bait avoidance may occur.**

Each 30 gram tube of Advion Ant Bait Gel yields approximately 30 bait placements. Each box of four tubes yields approximately 120 bait placements.

Advion Ant Bait Gel is for use in the following areas:

Residential, institutional, commercial, and industrial areas, including single and multi-family residential buildings, schools, commercial and industrial facilities (including warehouses, apartments, supermarkets, restaurants, motels, hotels, hospitals, zoos, food handling/storage establishments) and transportation equipment such as aircraft, trains, ships, boats, and buses.

Indoors

Indoor applications can include cracks and crevices; along walls or floors, in and around furniture and cabinetry, behind or under appliances, around sinks, within or near garbage collection areas, attics and crawl spaces. Inspect applications periodically for consumption/activity and apply additional bait as needed. Do not apply to surfaces that food contacts or to areas that are routinely washed, such as food preparation surfaces.

Do not apply Advion Ant Bait Gel to surfaces where the temperature exceeds 120-130 degrees F because this could cause the bait to liquefy and lose effectiveness.

Outdoors

See above for general application instructions.

ADVION ant bait gel may be applied to pest entry sites such as along windows, doors, between construction elements, sewer areas, adjacent trees which ants are using as a nesting site, along walls, garbage holding areas, or other places acting as an ant nesting site. Inspect applications periodically for consumption/activity and apply additional bait as needed.

Extreme heat or cold, direct sunlight and water may reduce the residual effectiveness. Apply Gel outdoors into bait stations such as Ant Café Refillable Bait Stations to protect bait from dust, rain, and sunlight.

Advion Ant Bait Gel Features

  • Advion ant bait gel is translucent, has no odor, and is a non-staining formulation that stays fresh for extended periods. This allows ants to eat more Advion ant bait gel over an extended period of time, resulting in control and elimination of entire colonies.
  • Advion ant gel contains a unique active ingredient unlike any other ant gel, so it performs like no other.
  • Pet safe when used as directed.
  • Formulation is highly attractive to sweet-feeding ants.
  • Labeled for a wide variety of household ants.
  • Bait is easy and convenient to apply with enclosed plunger or a bait gun.

Extra Tips

  • Store at room temperature, out of direct sunlight.
  • Once a tube is opened, it should be used within 6 months for best results.
  • Remember that different species of ants forage at different times of day, and colony sizes can greatly vary.
  • Bait will dry up quickly if used on porous surfaces such as paper, concrete, or cardboard. Use a less porous surface such as bait plate stations, if needed.
  • Do not use bait in the same areas as residual repellent sprays or where there may be residue from harsh cleaning products.
  • Do not spray products on top of bait, as this may cause the bait to be less palatable.
  • Avoid bait placements in areas exposed to air currents, such as in front of vents, as this will cause the bait to dry out more quickly.
  • It is always recommended to use a protein bait, such as Maxforce Complete Granular Bait, in conjunction with a sweet bait such as Advion Ant Bait Gel.

5 of 5 stars  Advion is Great!
By Ivan in Chelan, Washington on 05/06/2010
    Verified Purchase

I have two words for ant control, Termidor and Advion. Using these two products will control your ants, period. If you still have ants after spraying outside with Termidor, then they are not coming in contact with it. You may have a colony in your walls, attic, or under your house.  I had such a situation. For these ants, I used Advion by getting a straw and cutting it into 3-4 inch pieces. I filled 2 or 3 pieces and placed them near the ants path (which happened to be in my cupboard, be careful using it around food). I left the straws there until there wasn't any more ants, about 3 or 4 days. I had this colony for years and it got them all. Now, I do an annual spray of Termidor in the spring and haven't had to use Advion since the first application 2 years ago. If you've been plagued by ants like I have (sometimes even in my bed, yuk!) do yourself a favor. Get this stuff and be rid of ants.

5 of 5 stars  Advion Ant Bait Gel
By Mike in Grand rapids, mi on 05/13/2010

Worked exactly as advertised. Placed bait in about ten locations where the ants could come in. They were still around for about three days and then they were gone! Haven't seen them for three weeks and counting. Have tried traps and store bought baits in previous years with little effect. This was a referral from a co-worker and I have already recommended this product to family members. Thanks!

5 of 5 stars  The Ant Bait that works
By Bb in Rosemark, TN on 06/14/2010
    Verified Purchase

Over the years I have purchased several different types of ant bait. They all advertise that the ants will take the bait back to the colony thereby killing the rest. They never worked. I finally heard about Advion from our pest control man. It REALLY works. For the first time in years, we are ant-free.

  • 2 of 5 stars  Advion did not stant against the force of carpenter ants.
By Norma in Laredo on 12/30/2017

I bought Advion to stop carpenter ants destroying my plants and trees. After the first week I could see ants eating it like pure sugar even flyes were attracted to it. It is very easy to install and the aplicator can reach cracks you could not reach with other applicators. The 2nd week, were not eating it at all. I noticed a hand full of dead ants but that was all. I had to resort to Termidor to destroy the entire colony. Advion would work for small infestations not a big colony infestation.

This stuff is great, you put a small amount in the path of the Ants and the next thing you know you have this huge amount of Ants eating the bait and taking it back to their home so the rest of them can eat it and die. It usually works in a couple of days and before you know it the Ants are completely gone. Their is no smell to it.

Advion Ant Bait Gel is excellent! All I did was put a 1-2 inch strip of gel along the Argentinian ant trails and a similar strip across the top of a fire ant hills. Within 24 hours the Argentinian ants were gone. It took 48 hours for the Fire ant hill to be inactive.

  • 5 of 5 stars  Could not believe it
By Bobby in Houston, Texas on 10/02/2017

I generally do not write reviews. A product has to be either really good or really bad to prompt me to go online to mention it. I bought this product and I was skeptical. We had an infestation of ants and they were everywhere. The rains had driven them indoors and I tried everything to get rid of them. I went online and searched for a product that people recommended. It was Advion. It worked. it took 3 days to get to me and I put it out immediately. The first day, there was a flurry of activity by the ants (I guess this is normal). After day 3 I began to notice fewer and fewer ants. By day 5, they were all gone and have not returned. This stuff works exactly as advertised. Excellent product. I highly recommend it.

QWhich ant gel is better, Advion Ant Bait Gel or MaxForce FC Ant Bait Gel?

AAdvion Ant Bait Gel and MaxForce FC Ant Bait Gel are on a pretty even keel with each other. They are both very attractive to ants and offer a delayed reaction which allows the ants to get back to their colony and spread the bait. We can tell you that MaxForce FC Ant Bait Gel is a bit more popular which could be because it has been around longer than the Advion or because it contains Fipronil which is known to spread pretty fast through the ant colony. A lot of people use the color of the gel as their deciding factor. Advion Ant Bait gel is a white creamy color and less noticeable on light surfaces while MaxForce FC Ant Bait Gel is brown and less noticeable on dark surfaces.

QMy dog ate some Advion Ant Bait, will it hurt her?
My 100 lb lab ate one of the Advion Ant Bait Arena's. Will it harm her in any way?

A

We recommend that you contact your veterinarian. In most cases, an animal would have to eat very large quantities of ant bait gel for there to be any problem. The product label and the MSDS are always available on the Advion Ant Bait Gel page if you need to contact your veterinarian. In the future, be sure to apply to the gel in small dots directly into cracks and crevices, so that the ants will have easy access to the gel and your pet will not.

QThe label says REL 10/13. Is that an expiration date? Thank you.
I just received item, and was just wondering if this item is expired. Thank you.

AThe code on most insecticides of any sort including gels will be an indicator to the manufacturer of what batch the product came from and when it was produced or packaged. The shelf life and expiration is all dependent on how you store the product once you receive it. The product you received should have a minimum of a year shelf life, if not two.

QDo I just use Advion Ant Bait Gel and then forget about the ants?
Or do I clean them up after dying? Where do they go? I see them in the cupboards.

A

Advion Ant Bait Gel should be placed in areas where there is ant activity. You may not see them die (and this is normal) or where they go (unless a trailing site is visible). The bait should be replenished every couple of weeks (cleaning up previous bait placements/dead ants). You will see a decline in the amount of ants over time if they are accepting the bait and sharing it among one another. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Ants for a successful program.

QWhat is the safest way to use Advion Ant Bait Gel in the kitchen?
Is it safe to put bait (on a slip of paper) on the counter behind our toaster in the kitchen -- which is next to the stove, silverware drawer, microwave, etc.? The ants are walking into the bait and then immediately all over the stove and nearby counters/food prep areas...

A

We would not recommend placing Advion Ant Bait Gel on any porous surfaces like paper as it will absorb the moisture of the bait and cause it to dry out faster.  You can place the bait in a Bait Plate Station instead.  The small amount the ants pick up after eating/contacting would not contaminate other surfaces.  We do have a great video here for helpful tips on baiting.

QCan Advion Ant Bait Gelt kill roaches?
I accidently ordered Advion Ant Bait Gel, instead of Advion Roach Bait Gel.

A

The Advion Roach Bait Gel and the Advion Ant Bait Gel both have the same active ingredient but the inert ingredients are different and are designed to attract either roaches or ants only. They would not be interchangeable for either pest.

QAfter I apply Advion Ant Bait Gel, how long is it active?

A

Ant bait gel such as Advion Ant Bait Gel will be most attractive for about the first 2 weeks, but up to one month. You should reapply gel as long as you see ants in the area that are consuming the bait. Older bait still has active ingredient that works, but the food attractants will begin to get stale and less attractive over time.

QCan I use Advion Ant Bait Gel in my strawberry garden?
I have a container strawberry garden. It's infested with ants. I squirted about an inch of gel on the dirt. Will the ants traveling with the gel contaminate my garden and render the strawberries toxic?

A

We do not recommend treating edible vegetation outdoors with Advion Ant Gel. We would suggest discarding any fruit that was in contact with the product to be safe. It is recommended to treat with ant control products outside the drip line or 10-15 ft away from the strawberries. You could use ant baits in or around a garden in bait stations such as the Ant Cafe.

QI put out Advion Ant Bait Gel and it disappeared overnight?
Did the ants eat the gel spots I put out or what? I made them pea size and 10 minutes after all dots were swarmed with ants. This morning I see few ants but the dots are completely gone??

A

If the Advion Ant Bait Gel is gone, it is likely that it was consumed by the ants.  If you are still seeing ants in the area, you should reapply and continue to make the bait available until you are no longer seeing activity.

QIs it dangerous to put Advion Ant Gel under my stove?

A

No, Advion Ant Bait Gel is not dangerous to place under a stove. It is recommended that Advion Ant Bait Gel not be placed in areas where temperatures are above 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit. This will cause the bait to liquefy and lose its effectiveness.
