Joyce from Urbana Iowa writes

I am cutting down a voluntary trees within my arborvitae's. Am I safe to paint Tordon on those newly cut trees?

Answer:

Tordon RTU is not labeled to control voluntary trees.  The product label states: Untreated trees can occasionally be affected by root uptake of herbicide through movement into the the topsoil or by excretion of the product from the roots of nearby treated trees. Do not apply Tordon RTU within the root zone of desirable trees unless such injury can be tolerated.
