    Q
Is Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait just a bait product or does it kill the roaches?
    A
Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait is both a roach bait product and an insecticide. Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait contains food based ingredients to attract the roaches and entice them to feed. It also contains the active ingredient, Abamectin, which will kill the roach that consumes the bait and other roaches that come into contact with the roach that consumed the bait.

    Q
Our cat ingested a small amount of this that had fallen on the floor when our exterminator was here.
It was being put behind our electrical outlets. What toxic symptoms should we look for? Our vet wasn't very helpful and didn't know what dangerous chemicals the product contains.
    A
The great news it that your cat should be fine if it only ate a small anount of Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait. The residual and poisons in the products are only enough to kill something the size of a roach. A pet would need to eat large amounts of the bait directly to have an effect from the bait.

    Q
Can you mix Avert powder with Gentrol Concentrate together?
    A
No. Avert Dry Flowable cockroach bait cannot be mixed with Gentrol IGR concentrate. These two products have two very different formulations and they are not made to be mixed together. To make the application easier for your self you can choose to use Gentrol Point Source instead of the concentrate. Using Gentrol Point Source is as simple as squeezing the raised end of the plastic, adhesive-back device, no mixing or spraying required. This releases Gentrol IGR onto a filter paper. From there, it moves up to 75 square feet, that way roaches never need to come in contact with the device.

    Q
Should I clean up or Leave applications of Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait?
Ny husband placed a small amount behind fridge near baseboard and benind and sove on floor. Also he took the cardboard of the back of the fridge and placed some near the fridge motor. He also placed some on the back of rhe stove where there are some vents. Do we clean this up or do we just leave it over time. Its been there for about 3 weeks and no sign of roaches again. Thanks for your help?
    A

It is not necessary to clean up the areas where the Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait was applied. This will provide a long time residual for the roaches so that they do not come back. You can remove the product and re-apply as necessary as well.

    Q
Can Avert dry flowable be use together with Invict gold bait or will they cancel each other out?
    A
Yes you can use both products together and they will not change the effectiveness of either. Both are baits so they are both items that the roaches will use as a food source. You would not want to use a bait where you had already placed an insecticide spray.

    Q
I have used numerous products with no results. Does Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait really work, or is it another waste of money?
    A

Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait is a great product, and it will work as it is labeled to, however, it sometimes takes a combination of products to fully eradicate a roach problem. One of our roach control kits would be recommended for roach control. These professional kits include non-staining, low odor concentrated insecticide for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc. You'll also get Roach Bait Gel to help get rid of those roaches that like to hide. Baits can be applied up high in the kitchen in the corner of cabinets and in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. The bait contains a slow-acting poison that attracts and kills feeding roaches, who also spread the bait to other roaches by contact or by sharing food. Finally, an Insect Growth Regulator is offered which will stop roaches from laying eggs, helping to halt the infestation. The combination of an IGR with roach bait is a highly effective roach control strategy that is widely used by pest control professionals. The insecticide must be applied with a 1 gallon pump sprayer.

Please take a moment to review our very informative article “How to Get Rid of Roaches” that really goes into depth in explaining a successful roach control program.

  • Asked by Tomi from Morehead City, Nc

    Q
Will Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait be harmful to humans when applied near kitchen utensils?
An exterminator placed this dust underneath our sink and in our lazy Susan in large amounts. We removed our pots and pans so that this area could be serviced, but now we're unsure if we should put them back and how we should clean this product up if we do decide to place them back.
    A

Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait should only be applied to cracks and crevices, under and behind cabinets, refridgerators and sinks, around window and door frames and other hiding/runway areas where activity is seen. Any visible powder after the application should be brushed into cracks/crevices or removed.

Per the product label, DO NOT contaminate feed or food products or food prep surfaces, dishes, kitchen utensils and food containers. Any contaminated or mistreated areas should be cleaned with warm soapy water and allowed to dry before replacing any items back onto surfaces, cabinets, or drawers.

Please contact the manufacturer BASF at 1(800) 526-1072 for more information if needed.

    Q
Does Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait have an expiration date?
We've used with incredible success previously but our latest infestation is proving challenging. Either product has expired, or roaches are resistant? Please comment on likelihood of both.
    A

Avert Dry Flowable Cockroach Bait should be used within 1 year of opening and you should rotate between roach baits with different actives every 3-4 months if you still need to treat to prevent resistance.

Pleae view our Roach Treatment Guide and Roach Control Kits for rotation options.
