Product Overview

Avesta CS Insecticide is a professionally formulated broad-spectrum microencapsulated insecticide that controls listed pests indoors and outdoors. It provides excellent control of insect pests including mosquitoes, ants, cockroaches, spiders, ticks, and flies (see label for complete list).  Containing Lambda-cyhalothrin, the same active ingredient as Demand CS Insecticide and Cyzmic CS, this controlled release insecticide provides a quick kill with a long residual.

Avesta CS can be used to treat indoor areas and in cracks and crevices with low odor.  The microencapsulated formulation provides a long-lasting residual effect even in direct sunlight or other harsh conditions.

It can be applied outdoors in lawns, ornamental gardens, parks, and fields. Avesta CS is compatible to be tank-mixed with other registered pesticides and IGRs (Insect Growth Regulators).

HOW AVESTA CS WORKS FOR YOU

Avesta CS is a liquid-suspended insecticide that provides long-lasting control of many indoor and outdoor insect pests around structures, lawns, and ornamental plants.

The micro-encapsulated formulation of Avesta CS contributes to its long-lasting residual effect and the product’s low odor. This encapsulation technology also means easier access to the product by insects across a variety of surfaces. When they can more easily pick up and transport larger capsules of active product, the desired control results are achieved even faster.

The active ingredient in Avesta CS, Lambda-Cyhalothrin, is one of the strongest available in this class of insecticides. This synthetic pyrethroid attacks the nervous system of pest insects and provides a quick kill brought on by paralysis of the pests.

WHERE TO USE AVESTA CS INSECTICIDE

Avesta CS can be used in a variety of locations including in, on, and around buildings and structures for the control of listed pests, including on lawns, ornamental trees and shrubs around residential, institutional, public, comercial, agricultural and industrial buildings; and paks, recreational areas and athletic fields.

HOW TO MIX AVESTA CS

Dilute AVESTA CS with water for application using hand-held or power-operated application equipment as a coarse spray for crack and crevice or spot and general surface (non-food/non-feed areas only) treatments. Application equipment that delivers low volume treatments may also be used to make crack and crevice or spot and general surface treatments. Fill applicator tank with the desired volume of water and add AVESTA CS. Close and shake before use in order to ensure proper mixing. Shake or reagitate applicator tank before use if application is interrupted. Mix only amount of treatment volume as required. AVESTA CS may be applied by using a paintbrush or other porous applicator attached to a handle as a general surface treatment.

HOW TO APPLY AVESTA CS

Perimeter Treatments: Apply a continual band of insecticide around building foundations and around windows, doors, service line entrances, eaves, vents, and other areas to reduce the potential for entry by crawling pests. Before application, remove debris and leaf litter from next to the foundation, cut back vegetation and branches that touch the foundation, and move or rake back rocks, deep mulch, or other potential pest harborage next to the foundation. Apply the band up to 10 ft. wide around the structure (or according to state regulations governing commercial pest control) and upwards along the foundation to 3 ft. and around windows, doors, and roof overhangs. Apply as a coarse spray to thoroughly and uniformly wet the foundation and/or band area so that the insecticide will reach the soil or thatch level where pests may be active. Amount of concentrate is dependent upon pest species (see pest table and comments on label), infestation levels, and service interval desired.

Outdoor Surfaces Use: Apply with either hand or power application equipment as a residual treatment to ornamental plants next to foundations of buildings and to surfaces of buildings, porches, screens, window frames, eaves, patios, garages, refuse dumps, and other similar areas where these insect pests are active. Remove all exposed food and cooking utensils. Cover all food handling surfaces or wash thoroughly after treatment and before use. Do not use on edible crops.

All outdoor applications must be limited to spot or crack-and-crevice treatments only, except for the following permitted uses:
1. Treatment to soil or vegetation around structures;
2. Applications to lawns, turf, and other vegetation;
3. Applications to building foundations, up to a maximum height of 3 feet above grade;
4. Applications to underside of eaves, soffits, doors, or windows permanently protected from rainfall by a covering, overhang, awning, or other structure;
5. Applications around potential pest entry points into buildings, when limited to a surface band not to exceed one inch in width;
6. Applications made through the use of a coarse, low pressure spray to only those portions of surfaces that are directly above bare soil, lawn, turf, mulch or other vegetation, as listed on this label, and not over an impervious surface, drainage or other condition that could result in runoff into storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters, or surface waters, in order to control occasional invaders or aggregating pests.

  • Do not apply directly to impervious horizontal surfaces such as sidewalks, driveways, and patios except as a spot or crack-and-crevice treatment. During application, do not allow pesticide to enter or runoff into storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters or surface waters.
  • Do not water treated area to the point of run-off.
  • Do not make applications during rain.
  • Do not apply directly to sewers or drains, or to any area like a gutter where drainage to sewers, storm drains, water bodies, or aquatic habitat can occur, except as directed by this label.

For Lawn and Turfgrass Pests: Application to turf should be started prior to the establishment of high insect pest populations and significant turf damage. Make reapplications as necessary to keep pest populations under control using higher rates as pest pressure increases. Apply at 7-day intervals if retreatment is necessary. More frequent treatments should be limited to spot treatments. For spot treatments, use 0.5 fl. oz. of AVESTA CS per 1 - 2.5 gals. of water.

  • Surface Insect Control (armyworm, cutworms, fleas, etc.): Apply AVESTA CS at recommended rates in 2 - 5 gals. of water per 1,000 sq. ft. The use of a spreader sticker may be useful if high rainfall amounts are forecast, otherwise the addition of adjuvants is not necessary under normal conditions for surface insect control in turf. Delay watering or mowing for 12 - 24 hours to control surface-feeding insect pests.
  • Thatch Inhabiting Insect Control (chinch bugs, billbugs, etc.): Apply AVESTA CS at recommended rates in 2 - 10 gals. of water per 1,000 sq. ft. The use of a nonionic wetting agent, penetrant or similar adjuvant is recommended at label rates. Lightly irrigate after application with up to 1/2 inch of water to move the AVESTA CS into the thatch layer. If irrigation is not available, then use high water application rates.
  • Subsurface Insect Control (mole crickets, grubs, etc.): Apply AVESTA CS at recommended rates in 4 - 10 gals. of water per 1,000 sq. ft. The use of a nonionic wetting agent, penetrant or similar adjuvant is strongly recommended following label rates. Use the highest water application rates possible with your sprayer. Apply AVESTA CS to turf wet with dew, rain or irrigation. Water-in immediately after application with ¼ - ½ inch of water.
  • Fire Ant Control: Treat individual mounds with a drench application using a watering can. Use 0.5 fl. oz. of AVESTA CS per 2.5 gals. of water. Thoroughly soak each mound and a 3 ft. diameter circle around each mound. Gently apply the mixture to avoid disturbing the mound. Disturbing the mound may cause the ants to migrate and reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. Apply in early morning or late evening hours. You may make applications on a monthly basis to maintain protection of treated areas.
  • Mosquito Control: Apply as a general spray around landscape plantings, turf, and building foundations to control mosquitoes. Apply AVESTA CS at recommended rates in 2 – 5 gals. of water per 1,000 sq. ft.

See the label for complete application use and instructions.

Please follow all label directions carefully before use.

  • DO NOT exceed the specified number of applications per calendar year.
  • DO NOT apply Avesta CS in areas where animals (except cattle) are present.
  • DO NOT use Avesta CS on edible crops.
  • DO NOT apply Avesta CS through any type of irrigation system.
  • DO NOT apply this product by aerial application.
  • DO NOT apply Avesta CS during rain.

    Control for Carpenter Bees

    By Shawn on 04/21/2023

    I used Avesta CS Insecticide to help control carpenter bees. The product works great! The bees have stopped coming to their existing holes and have not created new ones. I did also use Tempo 1% Dust to inject into the existing nests. The combination is a great one-two punch to prevent carpenter bees from continuing to nest and cause damage. After soaking the wood with Avesta CS Insecticide, I dusted the nests with Tempo 1% 12 to 24 hours later. 24 hours following the dusting, I then filled the holes with premium exterior wood filler. You can purchase cork or rubber plugs to fill the holes as well. The key is to make sure the bees are gone before filling the holes; otherwise, they'll either drill their way out through the existing filled hole or just create a new one. The combination of Avesta and Tempo work great together.

    Affordable alternative to Demand CS

    By Ian on 05/02/2023

    Had my own pest control company for a few years and Demand CS was my favorite repellent, the only downside was it's cost was significant compared to other products. We tried a couple of generic variants and they both had a strong odor and would agitate your lungs even with a N95 respirator. I sold the company a while back and still treat my home and the homes of a couple family members, I was going to order some Demand but saw Avesta with the same active ingredient and decided to order an 8 oz bottle to try. The product works fantastic and while it does have more of an odor than some other pesticides, it's actually a fairly pleasant one and does not cause any irritation. Fantastic product for personal or commercial use.

    By Kurt on 07/08/2023

    I used Demand CS for years and usually had good results. I've switched to Avesta CS and am ordering my second quart now. Works as well as Demand and is much more cost effective.

Why are Stink Bugs not listed on the Avesta CS Insecticide product label but Demand CS does list Stink Bugs as a target insects?
A

While Avesta CS Insecticide has the same active ingredient as the Demand CS, they are made by different companies. The manufacturers have done tests on certain insects and the manufacturer may not have tested Avesta for stink bugs.

Q
How long before a rain fall can you apply Avesta CS and still achieve full affect of this?
A

For best results, we recommend applying Avesta CS Insecticide when there is no rain expected in the forecast for at least 24 hours, however, as long as the product has had time to completely dry before any rain occurs, the product should still be effective. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions.
