  • Asked by Lue from Eugene, Oregon
    01/19/2020
    Q
Can I spray Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide on unrooted, fresh cuttings to clone?
I have unrooted cuttings dipped into solution and put into sprouted cubes, does avid damage plants if absorbed into an open wound like the cut source?
    A

Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide should be applied only to the foliage of plants to be most effective as it is a translaminar product absorbed through the leaves.  We are not certain of the effects it would have on fresh cuts like that, so we recommend contacting the manufacturer directly for further information.  Syngenta can be reached at 866-796-4368

  • Asked by Barry from Shawnee, Kansas
    07/31/2021
    Q
Will I need to wear a respirator when spraying Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide outside?
    A

According to the Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide Product Label regarding PPE (Personal Protective Equipment):
Applicators and other handlers must wear:
    • Coveralls over short-sleeved shirt and short pants
    • Chemical-resistant gloves – EPA chemical-resistance category B (e.g., barrier laminate or butyl rubber ?14 mils)
    • Chemical-resistant footwear plus socks
    • Protective eyewear
    • Chemical-resistant headgear for overhead exposure.
    • Chemical-resistant apron when cleaning equipment, mixing, or loading.
    • For shadehouse and greenhouse uses, applicators and other handlers must wear a dust/mist-filtering NIOSH-approved respirator with any R, P, or HE filter.

So you would not need a respirator when spraying outside as you have plenty of regular and fresh air flow.

    Q
Can I use Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide on my mattress and on the underside of my couch and chair and on my carpets?
I have mites in my home -- I think bird mites. I've tried professionals and other products and am still having this problem. But my research implies that I need something that is a miticide and an insecticide.
    A

  • Asked by Lori from Idaho
    12/09/2016
    Q
What other product do I use in conjunction with Avid to prevent clover mite resistance?
    A

Avid is not specifically labeled for clover mites. We suggest applying a product called Talstar P at 1 oz per gallon per 1,000 sq ft monthly to the exterior surfaces for this insect species. It is important to apply prior to the spring as they are a nuisance during the early spring and occasionally in the fall.

  • Asked by Chris from Niagara Falls
    06/21/2018
    Q
Will Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide kill sawflies or other outdoor rose bush pests?
Leaves looking skeletonized and some rose bush dust was ineffective at eliminating the problem.
    A

Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide is not labeled for sawflies. For prevention of and early spring treatment of rose sawfly, you can use a systemic product like Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench. For current sawfly larvae, you can use high pressure water spray to dislodge the insects and/or do a thorough coverage spray using an oil and pyrethrin spray like Monterey Take Down Garden Spray. It is best to spray in early morning, and be sure you treat the undersides of the leaves where these insects hide.
