  • Asked by Donald from Reno, Nv
    08/22/2016
    Q
Will Barricade 65 WDG Herbicide kill Russian sage?
Can I add to brush killer?
    A

Barricade 65 WDG Herbicide is not labeled for Russian Sage however, the active ingredient in this product of prodiamine is mentioned in several articles as a great ingredient to use on the Russian Sage. I have attached one of these articles as well. Overwatering can induce bad health and root rot of Russian Sage also. It does poorly in wet soil with poor drainage, and eventually dies from winter-kill. Once the plant dies, you can remove the stump that remains from your garden.

  • Asked by Ben from Tucson, Az
    10/21/2014
    Q
Is Barricade chemically compatible with glyphosate sodium and diquat-dibromide?
I wish to mix barricade, glyphosate and diquat-dibromide for long-term vegetation kill/control (I want bareground sparing the trees). I am aware that the recommendation is to alternate treatments, however, I've been unable to find compatibility information in neither the label nor MSDS. The label essentially says "try it and if it separates, it's incompatible" is there anything more specific, like a chemical compatibility guide? Thank you in advance.
    A
Before mixing Barricade 4FL with other pesticides in the spray tank, test for compatibility by mixing all components (carrier and pesticide products) in an appropriate container in proportionate quantities. For example, 1 qt. would be 1/100 the volume of a 25 gals./A spray rate. At 1.0 lb./A, the Barricade 4FL rate would be proportional to 6 ml. per quart. Add approximately 1 teaspoon to a quart of water.

If components do not ball-up or form flakes, sludge, gels, oily films, or layers, then the mixture is compatible. Let the mixture stand for 15 minutes. Incompatibility will usually occur within 5 minutes after mixing. If components are not compatible, use a compatibility
agent and rerun the test to determine if the mixture is suitable. If the components are still not compatible, do not tank mix.
According to the manufacturer label, Barricade 4FL can be used with glyphosate products. We would recommend doing the tank test for diquat-dibromide.

  • Asked by Jeff from Celina, Ohio

    Q
Spray Application - What time of year
I was told that I could spray Barricade 65 WDG in the fall from the folks I purchased it from. But as I read the label it sounds like I would get the best bang for my buck would be around the Fed - March time frame. What do you recommend?
    A
Different weeds will germinate at different times of the year. To control winter weeds it is recommended to treat prior to germination in the fall and then to treat again in the spring for the summer weeds. It all depends on the target weeds and your region. We would recommend you contact your local Cooperative Extension Office for more specific recommended application timing in your area for your weeds.

  • Asked by Gregory from Greensboro, North Carolina
    01/29/2017
    Q
Can I spray Barricade 65 WDG with a Permagreen ride-on sprayer?
I have a 25 acre HOA to treat. I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to do a large area with fields and houses and is Barricade the best route?
    A

Yes, you can use Barricade 65 WDG Herbicide with just about any type of spray equipment as long as you are able to mix the solution properly. You need to be able to agitate the tank during initial mixing and during the application to maintain a well-mixed spray suspension, per the product label. If your sprayer does have adequate agitation, then you may want to consider a liquid pre-emergent herbicide instead. Barricade does cover a wide variety of both grassy and broadleaf weeds and is safe to use around most established turf and ornamentals.

    Q
When can Barricade 65 WDG Herbicide be applied if I overseeded in January and the seeds have not yet germinated? Treating for crabgrass in North Carolina with ground temps around 55 degrees consistently around mid March.
    A

Barricade 65 WDG Herbicide can be applied 60 days after seeding or after the second mowing. Please contact your local cooperative extension office for the best time in your area for overseeding and pre-emergent applicaitons as this can vary from year to year. If soil temperatures were below 55 degrees or around freezing when the overseeding was done, this could have an impact on seed germination.
