    Excellent product

    By Jonathan on 01/10/2016

I have a tree overhanging my driveway which makes wonderful shade but harbours aphids. All summer long they produce a sticky 'dew' which makes a mess on the cars. I applied this product around the trunk in the winter and the next summer there were no 'dew' issues. The following seasons I used maybe only half the recommended amount because it stays in a large tree more than 12 months. Also have been told to try to mow the fall leaves to mulch where they fall as that will return some of the pesticide to the soil to be used again.

My Goal is to Save My Ash Trees

    By Denise on 06/05/2018

I've been using this Bayer product for years (2012) and it has saved my large ash tree (84" round) in my front yard from the Emerald Ash Borer. It wasn't until later that I started treating the 11 ash trees in my backyard. Some of the trees are stressed and I'm pretty sure they do have the Emerald Ash borer but I still apply Bayer on them in hopes the ash borer dies. Overall the product works well.

Bayer Advanced 12 month Tree and shrub Protect and Feed II

    By Bill on 09/09/2016

We found the bottle had wonderful directions and the product was very easy to apply and water in. We are now waiting to see if it does everything it is supposed to accomplish with our trees and shrubs. Can't help but think it will kill the insect infestations and keep the trees and shrubs fed. Bayer has a good reputation.

Q
Is the liquid form better than the granular form for Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II?
A

Which form of the Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II that works better depends on the depth of the roots on the plants/trees you need to treat.  For plants/trees with shallow feeding roots granules could be used, for ones with deeper roots, the liquid would be best as it can be pushed down further with more watering.

Q
Do I mix one ounce of the concentrate for every inch of tree diameter in how much water?
A

Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II - Concentrate is mixed at 1 oz per inch of trunk cirumference (not diameter).

The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. The minimum amount of water that should be used is 1 pint per foot of shrub height (or inch of trunk diameter for trees) but you may use 1 quart -1 gallon of water per foot of height (or inch of trunk diameter for trees) as well. Denser soils such as clay do not accept water as readily, so the lower volume of water is suggested.  Since sandy soils can accept more water, using the higher volume of water is preferred. After the soil drench has been applied you should water it in with at east 1/2 inch of water.

Note: Water simply acts as a carrier and it is important that even distribution of the product is achieved. Thus, more water may be used if the applicator feels runoff will not occur and proper penetration of the root zone is achieved. Insecticides applied to the soil are taken up by the roots and translocated throughout the tree or shrub. Root/soil drenches offer the advantage of requiring no special equipment to apply (other than a bucket or watering can). However, surface layers of organic matter, such as mulch or leaf litter, can bind the insecticide and reduce uptake. Before applying drenches, it is important to remove or pull back any mulch or dead leaves so the insecticide solution is poured directly on the mineral soil. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 7-10 days after applications to encourage uptake

Q
Is Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II - Concentrate a good product for larger spruce trees?

I have 5 spruce trees about 30 ft tall and 60 inch circumference. Is application method the same as with deciduous trees? I live in CO and with the width of the trees and little rain, very little moisture reaches the base of the trunk. Is there a better product?

A

Yes, the Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II - Concentrate can be used to treat trees including spruce trees. You want to use 1 fl oz for every inch of distance around the trunk (circumference). You would want to also use 1 gallon of water for each inch of the trunk diameter. You want to go out about half way between the trunk and the trees drip line and evenly pour the solution in a circle around the base of the tree.

Q
How do I use Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II - Concentrate for trees?
A

When using Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II - Concentrate for trees the product label states you use 1 oz for every inch of distance around trunk. For trees with distance around trunk of less than 30 inches apply the solution evenly in a circle 2 feet from the tree trunk. Trees with distance around trunk greater than 30 inches, apply the solution evenly in a circle 3 - 4 feet from the tree trunk.

Example: A tree measuring 8 inches around, pour 8 ounces of product into 1 gallon of water. If the tree measures greater than 50 inches around, pour the required product into 2 gallons of water. A flexible tape measure is the recommended method for measuring the distance around a tree.
