Great for Use in St Augustine
By Dollie on 08/10/2017
I have used this product for years in my own lawn as well as in numerous friends and neighbors lawns. As long as used as directed on label it works very well. One neighbor used the higher dosage on sensitive St Augustine and the grass did yellow. However it bounced back after several mowing and the higher dosage did a better job on the tougher weeds.

Don't use it on St. Augustine grass
By Jan on 05/22/2022
My back yard had a bunch of dollar weeds in spots all over and now the grass is dead everywhere I sprayed the dollar weed. Trails all over. I was very careful to mix it exactly by the directions. I am so upset, I could cry. I had to plant grass in some places that were really bad. I will never use this product again.

I have St Augustine grass. I am considering to purchase Bayer Advanced Weed Killer for St Augustine grass. Thank you.
Bayer Advanced Southern Lawn Concentrate Weed Killer is labeled for St. Augustine but is NOT to be used on Floratam version of St. Augustine. If you are uncertain of which type of St. Augustine grass you have, we recommend you contact your Master Gardener here for proper identification. Both of these types of turf lawns are very sensitive and can be damaged very easily.
Below are some characteristic differences between the two versions of Saint Augustine Grass.
Saint Augustine Grass:
This broad-bladed, medium-green turf grass thrives in sunny locations, but unlike some sun-loving grasses, it also has a high shade tolerance. Common St. Augustine grass grows quickly during summer, but more slowly in fall and spring. It is a salt- and drought-tolerant grass that requires moderate maintenance.
Floratam Saint Augustine:
Floratam is coarse-textured grass, but a distinguishing feature of Floratam is its longer and wider leaf blades. This dark-green cultivar grows rapidly in both spring and summer. It is less cold and shade tolerant than other St. Augustine grass cultivars and can suffer from freeze damage when temperatures stay below freezing for an extended period of time. Floratam needs plenty of sunshine and will perform poorly if it receives less than six hours of sunlight a day.

How soon can I start planting grass after treatment?
Bayer Advanced Southern Lawn Concentrate Weed Killer is not labeled to control sandspurs. Per the product label bare spots may be seeded 3 to 4 weeks after application. You can use a product called HI Yield Atrazine Killer which is labeled to treat for Sandspur and can be used in Centipede and St Augustine lawns. Please let us know if you have a different type of grass and we can recommend a different product.
