Bifen IT should NOT be applied to tomatoes or anything else that is edible. We do carry Triple Action Plus Plus with 70% Neem Oil . It is an insecticide, miticide, and even an fungicide that can be used up to the day of harvest and reapplied every 14 days. It is safe to apply and is labeled for tomato horn worms. Please refer to the product label for complete mixing and application instructions prior to application.
Bifen IT is a good choice for bagworm control. The product label recommends mixing at the rate of 1 oz per 1000 sq ft in approximately 1 gallon of water. Bifen XTS is an oil-based insecticide that is only for outdoor use, while Bifen IT is water-based and has a broader label. However, it is important to start control methods before infestation occurs. Once the bagworms have matured and have formed the "bag" most chemical control methods will no longer work.
Once the bags have formed, you can manually control bagworms by simply plucking them off of the infested trees and dropping them into a bucket of soapy water or squishing them.
When using Bifen IT or other insecticides/miticides, we would recommend switching miticides every 30 days or so.
You can spray plants with Bifen IT on days with high temps but you should refrain from spraying during the heat of the day. Instead, restrict applications to very early morning or late evening. This will prevent the sun rays from scorching the plants while they are still wet.
Bifen IT can be applied with Hi-Yield Spreader Sticker. You will mix 2 to 4 teaspoons per gallon of water when mixed with insecticides, miticides, fungicides, liquid fertilizers and herbicides.
Bifen IT cannot be used in edible vegetation. Leaf footed insects are better controlled during nymph stages, using a product like Pyganic 1.4 EC. Be sure to remove any debris piles from the orchard.
When applying Bifen IT for fall webworms or other ornamental pests, use 0.125-0.25 ounces of concentrate per 1,000 square feet, or 5.4-10.8 oz. per 100 galons of water for high volume applications. See the product label for complete application instructions.
Bifen IT will kill any bees that land on the treated surfaces, especially if they are foraging. It offers a 30 day outdoor residual and eradicates over 75 other listed insects. We recommend avoiding spraying on flowering plants or in other areas where pollinators may be active. You should also avoid spraying in the middle of the day when these insects are most active.
Bifen IT will kill Cicada Killers that come into contact with treated areas for a sufficient amount of time to receive a lethal dose. It is labeled for non-edible trees and shrubs. You will need to dilute 1 fl oz of Bifen IT per gallon of water and broadcast spray over the areas where you have noticed activity. Most folks notice only very limited results from broadcast sprays of insecticides for cicada killers because they don't land and walk around for a long enough time before entering their underground burrow. Please read below for the most effective treatment method:
Cicada Killer wasps thrive in disturbed environments, such as landscaped yards and places where bare soil is exposed. You can discourage the wasps from nesting in your yard by cutting your grass on the highest setting and by adding a thick layer of mulch to flower beds during the Cicada Killer Wasp season. These wasps do not like over saturated lawns either, so over watering during their season will help prevent them. Unfortunately, there is no fool proof way to prevent cicada killer wasps. For prevention, you can try to use a granular insecticide such as Talstar PL Granules in the couple of weeks before this pest is known to emerge. For current infestations, you would need to use Delta dust in each individual burrow.
We also like to let our customers know that the Cicada Killer wasps are beneficial insects that provide free pest control for a couple months each year. Cicada killer wasps paralyze and provision their burrows with other insects to feed their young. The beneficial Cicada killer wasps, while large and intimidating to see, are mostly harmless and there have been very few reports of anyone getting stung by just being near them. In most cases where a sting was reported, the wasps were being held or molested in some way. Cicada Killer Wasp stings are also reported to be almost painless.
While Bifen IT is labeled for bedbugs, we recommend that you use a combination of products to effectively eliminate them from your home. We have put together Bedbug Kits that come with all of the products that you will need. Please see our Bed Bug Pest Guide for more information about treating for bed bugs.
No, Bifen IT is labeled to be used over ornamentals, including flowers. You will use 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water. We would advise not spraying blossoms directly to protect desirable pollinating insects that may be present in the area.
Bifen IT could harm car paint. It is not labeled to be applied or any over spray to land on vehicles. Please contact the manufacturer Control Solutions (281) 892-2500.
