    Q
    Rotating insecticide
I'm currently using Bifen to control insects. Was wondering what other insecticide I can rotate with so insects don't grow an immunity to it. I'm looking for something that will control most insects and have a long residual life so I don't have to keep on applying it.
    A
Cyzmic CS would be a great option to rotate with. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions. This product is microencapsulated and can have a 2-3 month residual when applied appropriately.

    Q
Does this kill rat/animal mites in an attic area? We just bought an old house and have put in a new roof, any
We bought a house but even since the new roof and garage door and all of the rats /possums and squirrels gone from the attic my family is being bitten. The dermatologist said maybe rat mites. I would like to spray inside the house and the attic. We have a dog too.
    A

While Bifen IT is labeled for mites it is not labeled specifically for rodent mites. The easiest method to control rodent mites that have entered your home is to physically remove them with a vacuum cleaner or wipe them up with a moist cloth. Mites are not automatically killed by a vacuum cleaner so freeze the bag to prevent the mites from crawling back out.

Locating the source and eliminating the hosts and nests is important to prevent further problems with these mites. Nests are usually located in attics, basements, or inside walls. If necessary, trap them with kill traps or glue boards. Spray the dead rat and its nest with a disinfectant. Removing the mite source (dead mice, rats, and abandoned nests) is very important. Unless you remove their source, rat mites will continue to seek human host infesting your house.

    Q
Will Bifen IT control flies, wasps and yellow jackets?
    A

Bifen IT is labeled for flies, yellow jackets and wasps when applied per the product label rates. This is not a knockdown spray but will leave a residual of 21-30 days. Retreat as necessary if signs of renewed activity exist.

You may want to consider our Wasp and Hornet Kit which contains the residual insecticide Cyzmic CS, plus Wasp-X that is a contact kill aerosol to spray wasps and nest directly.

    Q
Does mosquitos build resistance over time to bifen it
    A
Usually insecticide resistance is not an issue with mosquitoes since there will be new populations each year. However, if you have been using the same insecticide for many years, then rotation is a good idea for general pest control.

    Q
Can bifen I/T be used where chickens free range?
    A

As long as you keep chickens out of the area while applying Bifen I/T and until it has time to completely dry it should be safe for your chickens to return to that area. It also will not harm the chickens if they eat an insect that has died from the Bifen I/T treatment.

    Q
How to decontaminate skin and floors?
My home was sprayed with Bifen IT 4 weeks ago. I walked barefoot in my home the day of the spraying, even though I gave it 4 hours to fully dry before re-entering, and a few other times over the past weeks, although I have mostly been trying to wear slippers. My feet burn and tingle and the sensation has been persistent. I have some slight nausea and headache as well. It seems that no amount of mopping with any kind of cleaning solution has made any difference in lifting the Bifen IT residue, and my feet seem to have a slightly waxy residue I can never wash out with any amount of soap and water. What can I do?
    A
We would recommend contacting a medical professional about the product coming into contact with your skin. We are unable to give advice on this as we are not doctors and as stated on the product label in regards to if this product comes into contact with your skin, "- Take off contaminated clothing. - Rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. - Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice."

As for the floors, soap and water should have been able to clean up the application from any left over residue. It is possible that the product was misused/overapplied which is causing issues. We would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly for further assistance at 866-897-8050.

    Q
Is this good for bark beetles?
To spray in holes in trees
    A

We generally recommend using a pyrethroid such as Bifen IT or Permethrin SFR as a preventative treatment in late spring/summer before the egg hatches to protect trees. If trees are badly infested, then they should be removed and either chipped or burned.

Keep in mind that trees that become infested with bark beetles are almost always susceptible due to some other existing weakness such as drought or disease.

    Q
If Bifen is applied and it rains, is the water unsafe for dogs to drink?
Bifen was applied 2 weeks ago and it has been raining enough for puddles to form in my backyard. I'm worried that my dog will get sick from drinking that water.
    A

As long as Bifen IT has a chance to dry before the rain, should not cause any problems for your pets even if they chew on the grass or drink water from puddles.

    Q
Can I mix Bifen I/T with Compare and Save Grass & Weed Killer Herbicide and Surfactant?
Think the active ingredient in Compare & Save Grass & Weed killer is glyphosate, and the surfactant is the southern ag for herbicides. Are they safe to mix together. The bifen is fantastic for mosquito control so i though maybe I could kill 2 birds with one stone...
    A

An insecticide such as Bifen IT can be mixed with a herbicide, however, we would not recommend mixing it with a surfactant. Anytime a product does not require a surfactant, we do not recommend mixing it with anything that does. If you choose to proceed, make sure you do a jar test to see how they react together. If they separate, change colors, or any other chemical reactions, they will not work together.
