    Q
Will Bifen IT kill bumble bees nesting under my deck? I can not see the nest, and I will have to broadcast.
    A
Yes. If the bumble bees come into contact with the Bifen IT, they will be killed. It is important to make sure you are spray areas that they will actually land on. We also recommend either treating very early in the morning or late in the evening when the bees are less active.

    Q
Is Bifen IT safe for domestic pets?
I have three dogs, and I am scared to use chemicals.
    A
Bifen IT is safely used in thousands of homes across the country everyday. Bifen IT is safe for use around pets when used according to the label. You should always keep children and pets away from the away while you are treating, and then once the treatment is dry it is perfectly safe to allow pets to re-enter the area

    Q
Can Bifen IT be used with a thermal fogger?
If so, would you mix the same concentration in oil as you recommend with water? I prefer a thermal fogger because I have a 5 acre property and need to infiltrate the deep woods all around me.
    A
Bifen IT is not permitted to use in a ULV or a thermal fogger.  Bifen IT is only permitted to be used in a hand pump or gas powdered sprayer with larger droplets.  Bifen IT can clog foggers. Only oil based fog solutions are usually advised to be used in a thermal fogger.  Our recommendation would by Pyrocide 100, which is a fogging solution that is great for mosquitoes and flying insects. Most fogging solutions do not leave a long residual and should be re-applied for optimum results.

    Q
Why is Bifen IT so much cheaper than Cy-kick CS? Aren't they both the same thing?
Which one is best for outdoors?
    A
No, they are not the same. Bifen It is a generic form of Talstar P and contains the active ingredient bifenthrin. Bifen IT is great for indoor/outdoor general pest control and is very safe to use around pets and people, non irritating to the skin, will not stain, is odorless, and stands up well to rainfall. Talstar P is the product of choice for mosquito control too.  Cy-Kick CS is a micro encapsulated product that contains Cyfluthrin. Cy Kick-CS is known to be super effective for those hard to kill insects such as spiders and scorpions and it will last a bit longer outdoors.

    Q
Will Bifen IT kill earwigs and keep future earwigs from coming around?
We get TONS of these little creepy bugs around our house and around the play sets our kids play on. I need something that kills them and keeps them away. Would Bifen IT work?
    A

Yes, Bifen IT is labeled for earwigs. Spray indoors around the baseboards, door frames, window frames, under appliances and places where utilities (cables, pipes, wires) enter into the structure. Outdoors you should spray a 3 foot band around the bottom of the foundation and then spray another band that is several feet wide out onto the ground immediately adjacent to the foundation, door frames, window frames, and places where utilities enter into the structure. If you have mulch up close to the foundation , you should rake it back at least 6 inches and turn it frequently to get rid of the moisture it can hold. Bifen IT can also be sprayed by the play set, but not on the play set.

    Q
Can I use Bifen IT on fleas that are infesting the inside of our home?
I see that Bifen IT works for fleas outside, but I don't see that it is recommended inside? I did notice that it doesn't stain carpet etc, so why don't they recommend it? Have I missed something?
    A

Bifen IT is labeled for cracks, crevices and wall voids only indoors, meaning that you could not spray it over carpeted areas or on furniture, the places that fleas are most likely to develop. Ultracide would be a great choice for indoor flea control. Ultracide contains both an insecticide to kill the active biting adult fleas and an IGR to help control developing flea eggs, larva and pupa. For most effective control, vacuum before treating and everyday for the next two weeks, be sure to change the bag or empty the reservoir immediately after vacuuming. A second treatment should be applied after 14 days.

    Q
I have used Bifen IT on the lawn for mites, but I am unsure how much to water after application.
    A
According to the product label, you should use Bifen IT with a surfactant such as DyneAmic to control mites in the lawn. The product label also recommends irrigating the lawn with .25 inch of water after the application for lawn infesting insects.

    Q
Will Bifen IT kill my herbs and tomato plants?
I'm worried about the affects on my pets and veggies. Also, when do I apply the spray? Morning, dewy periods, dry evening? I read the MSDS and insert, but I'm still concerned. Thanks
    A
Bifen IT will not kill your tomato plants or your vegetables.  However, Bifen IT is not labeled to treat edible plants and should not be used on or near where it could come into contact with your garden. We do carry Acephate 75 SP which is labeled for many vegetables in a garden.

    Q
Can Bifen IT be used with a fogger?
    A
No, Bifen IT is not labeled to be used in a fogger. We do have several fogging concentrates available on our website such as Riptide ULV, Vector-Ban, Sector, Shockwave and Pyrocide 100 to name a few. Most of the fogging concentrates are going to contain either pyrethrins or permethrin as the active ingredient. Read the product labels that we have provided on each of the individual product pages to see which one is right for your needs.

    Japense Beetles and Spider Mites
I am looking to kill Japanese Beetles and spider mites. Is this the best product?
    A
Bifen IT is a great product for both of those pests as well as many others.  Bifen IT is one of our most popular products and can be used both indoors and outside.  Just keep in mind that Bifen IT cannot be used on vegetable gardens or fruit bearing trees or anything you plan on eating.

    Q
I have clover mites. I got rid of them last year with Tempo SC Ultra but they have came back this year.
Demand G controls mites, but does not specify the clover mite. Can you confirm? I also plan on using Bifen It for perimeter of house. Would demand G granules and Bifen IT be a good combo?
    A
Demand G granules will control clover mites, but our most popular product for clover mites has always been bifenthrin products like the Bifen IT.  Demand G Granules would be a good one, two punch for your yard, but spraying Bifen on the house 2 feet up and 2 feet out and underneath siding will do a better job than anything keeping clover mites away.  Unfortunately these pests seem to come back every year once the moisture comes and the weather gets warm.

    Q
How much area will one gallon of diluted Bifen cover when spraying the yard for mosquitoes?
    A
Typically one diluted gallon of Bifen will cover 1000 square feet, but it all depends on how you apply it.  The key to mosquito control is to treat all bushes, shrubs, and trees in the area and especially paying close attention to treating the underside of the leaves which is where mosquitoes hang out.

    Q
How does Bifen IT compare to Bifen XTS and Permethrin for mosquito control?
    A
Bifen I/T is our most popular choice for mosquito control.  The Bifen XTS is the same product, just in a higher concentration.  For mosquito control you do not need the higher concentration, it is not necessary.  Bifen I/T would also be a better solution then permethrin because permethrin breaks down quicker in sunlight and the Bifen I/T only needs to be applied every 30 days whereas permethrin would need to be applied every two weeks.  The most important thing to remember when treating for mosquitoes is that they hang out on the underside of leaves and shrubs.  You should treat all shrubs, bushes and trees around the outside patio or wherever you hang out at around the house.  You should also treat the tree line in your yard near the forest if one exists.  Remember to not only treat the main bush or shrub but also the underside of the leaves.

    Q
Can I use Bifen IT to treat my trees for little black bugs?
I treated my trees approximately 10 days ago with Bifen to get rid of leaf miners. Yesterday I noticed that my trees are all turning brown and the leafs are falling. When I looked closer they are all covered with small black bugs. Do I need to treat them with something different or treat them again with Bifen? Will the leaves come back again this year?
    A

We recommend getting the little black bug identified so that we can properly advise you on treatment options. You can contact your local cooperative extension office for insect identifications.

    Q
How many square feet does a pint of Bifen IT cover? What about a quart?
    A

The coverage will depend on the type of pest you are treating for and the area that is being treated. Please check the Bifen IT product label to see what concentration and coverage rate your situation calls for. One pint of Bifen IT will make approximately 16-48 gallons of diluted solution and one quart of Bifen IT will make approximately 32-96 of diluted solution. If you need help figuring out the concentration please call customer service at: 866-581-7378

    Q
Will Bifen IT work against springtails and kill even after it dries?
I had a bad infestation of springtails last year and nothing I tried seemed to work. A few sprays would kill if the springtails were sprayed directly, but nothing had any residual killing affect. Will Bifen IT work against springtails and kill even after it dries?
    A
Bifen IT would be a good choice and it does leave an active residual. You may need to reapply every month through the season. Springtails can be tough to get rid of because of their large populations in infested areas and the often covered areas where they harbor. Springtails are usually a sign that there is a moisture issue close by. Check all around the outside of your home for built up leaf debris or yard clippings, leaking faucets, mulch that is too damp or other moisture problems. Springtails need a very high level of moisture to survive, so correcting that issue may hel. Q
Is Bifen IT effective for weevils?
I have a problem with white pine weevils. Is there a better alternative that would be more effective?
    A
Bifen IT is labeled for "weevils" in general and the active ingredient Bifenthrin is known to be effective for white pine weevils. It is important when using a foliar application that treatments start when adult weevils first start to appear in spring, usually around mid-April. At this time, Bifenthrin seems to be the only active ingredient available to homeowners for white pine weevil control. We also suggest you contact your local cooperative extension office for more tips on the best treatment time in your specific area.

    Q
What type of weather should I put the Bifen IT out in? Rainy, cold, hot?
    A
All of our liquid insecticides including Bifen IT should be applied in dry weather, not rainy weather.  All of the liquid insecticides are made to bond to dry surfaces and will last longer when applied when it is dry and not going to rain for at least 24 hours.  The temperature does not matter as much.  It can be applied in hot or cold weather, but it must be dry and not wet to work at its highest potential.
