Larvicides- Mosquito larvae will breed wherever suitable water is available, including bird baths, old automobile tires, rain barrels, ponds, abandoned or unused swimming pools (particularly above ground types), ditches, tree holes, roof gutters, flower pots, animal watering troughs, elevator shafts,. If it is not possible to eliminate a particular source, larvicides may be used to kill mosquito larvae before they are able to develop into breeding adults. You should not spray Bifen IT into standing water. You should use BTI Mosquito Briquette Dunks to treat standing water. BTI Mosquito Briquettes are a sustained-release larvicide that conveniently floats right on the water surface. These briquettes can be used in virtually any standing water site where mosquito larvae grow. As the briquettes float, BTI (or bacillus thuringiensis israelensis, a natural mosquito-killing biocontrol agent) is slowly released at the water’s surface and gradually settles in the water where it is consumed by mosquito larvae. Bti kills mosquito larvae before they are able to grow into mature, biting adults, eventually controlling the mosquito population. Additionally, the toxin will continue to be released into the water for a period of 30 days or more, providing continuous kill. Each briquette will effectively treat up to 100 square feet of surface water regardless of depth. Bifen can be used to help control adult mosquitoes on your property. Be sure to spray the undersides of leaves on trees as bushes as this is where mosquitoes like to hang out during the heat of the day.

Bifen IT can be used to help control cluster flies indoors and outdoors. If the cluster flies have already made their way indoors, they will be harder to control because they usually hide in a wall void or other inaccessible area and are only visible when the house warms up. If the cluster flies are in an attic or drop ceiling or other dark area, a fly light would do a great job controlling the population. Using small fly lights such as the Fly Web in the house would also help to catch the flies. Spray Bifen IT directly on baseboards, window frames, door frames, and places where utilities (pipes, wires, cables) enter in to the building and any other crack, crevice or gap where insects can enter.

Bifen IT will kill any bees that land on the treated surfaces, especially if they are foraging. It offers a 30 day outdoor residual and eradicates over 75 other listed insects. We recommend avoiding spraying on flowering plants or in other areas where pollinators may be active. You should also avoid spraying in the middle of the day when these insects are most active.

No, once Bifen IT has been mixed with water it either needs to be used or discarded within 24 hours of mixing with water. Do not let Bifen IT sit in the sprayer for longer than 24 hours as the dilution starts to separate and will clog the lines of your sprayer.

Bifen IT is not a selective insecticide and it will kill any insects that come into contact with treated areas. You can reduce the risk to your bees by keeping applications away from areas where the bees are actively foraging and at times when the bees are not active in general. You may also consider using Mavrik Perimeter insecticide for outdoor pests, which is non-repellent and non-toxic to honeybees after it is dried. You will want to read the product label to see if this fits your needs.

Absolutely.  Gentrol IGR can be mixed with any insecticide concentrate and be applied at the same time, including Bifen IT.  However, when mixed with an insecticide concentrate like Bifen IT you are limited on where you can apply the Gentrol IGR since you can only spray in areas where the Bifen IT is permitted to be applied according the label instructions.

No, Bifen I/T cannot be used on firewood.  It can be used around the area where the firewood is kept, but not on the firewood itself. 

Bifen IT is a great solution for control for chiggers! You will need to apply at a rate of 1 fluid ounce to 1 gallon of water and to apply around the permiter of the property as well as areas where the most activity is found. 

Bifen IT and Termidor should not be mixed for termite control.  Bifenthrin products used to be considered a good form of termite treatment, but bifenthrin acts as a repellent and now a days almost all professional termite companies are using non-repellents, such as Termidor SC.  We have a great article called How To Do A Termite Treatment that explains how to perform a treatment using a non-repellent termiticide.
