Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules is not specifically labeled to target cicadas before they emerge, but may help to reduce the population if applied before they burrow. Keep in mind that cicadas really are beneficial insects and only emerge during a short period of the summer. Most broods do not emerge every year.
The product label for Bifen Granules does not say anything about use near a well, but we would suggest not applying granules within at least 10 feet of the well just to be safe
Leaf Cutter ants are one of the hardest ant species to control. The colonies are large and the ants make their own food so poison baits only have limited effects on this species of ants. According to several university websites, Maxforce Complete Granules containing hydramethlynon are some what effective, though they will usually eliminate only about 30% of a large colony in one treatment and will need to be reapplied several times. DeltaGard granules is one of the only products actually labeled for leaf cutter ants. The product label recommends treating the mound directly and lightly watering the granules in. Again, it may take several treatments to get the desired results. We also recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations for products that have worked for other people in your region.
Bifen L/P Granules is labeled to kill ants in general, it can be used as a general broadcast outdoors. If you have a lot of activity, you could use the Outdoor Ant Kit instead. We recommend to review our Ant Control Guide for further tips and info.
Bifen granules can be used for eliminating a variety of insects in a lawn, however it would have no effect on moles currently in your yard. When treating for an animal you must treat for the animal directly, not indirectly. You would want to look over our Mole Control Guide and see what the options are for mole treatments to find the one that best suits your needs. There are step by step instructions and pro tips to help you get the most from your treatments. You can use poisons, traps, gassers, and in some instances repellents although that would be used more so after a problem had already been eliminated from the yard. Poisons worms like Talpirid are the most effective, however if you do not follow the instructions strictly and test the runs for multiple days before placing the worms in the designated areas you will fail every time. If you need assistance on how to place baits to have them work for your needs feel free to give us a call and we can go over the application with you and make sure you are not doing anything that could be working against your treatment.
Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules would be considered a repellent as far as social insects, such as ants, are concerned. This is because the product kills insects quickly which come in contact with treated areas, as opposed to the slower action in non-repellent products which allow the active ingredient time to transfer among social insects. This product is not specifically labeled to kill eggs but will affect the larvae of labeled pests.
We apologize, but we don't have the exact spreader setting for your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting to apply Bifen Granules is as follows:
If you need to use 3lbs of product per 1,000 sq ft you would add 3 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft). If you have product left, your setting is too low. If you run out of product, your setting is too high.
Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules must be applied dry to turf with a spreader and then must be watered in with 0.5 -1 inch of water. This product cannot be applied while it is actively raining.
Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules are broadcast with a spreader and watered in for treatment of many turf and ornamental pests. When watered in correctly according to the product label instructions it will treat pests that feed at the base near the thatch.
Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules are not specifically labeled for wasps. We would recommend treating with a liquid such as Bifen IT and dust any nesting openings or burrows with Delta Dust.
Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules are labeled for many insects such as mole crickets, ants/fire ants, chinch bugs, ticks, cutworms, armyworms, sod webworms, centipedes, millipedes, billbugs, pillbugs, sowbugs, etc. Please see the label for a complete list.
Bifen L/P is not labeled for crawfish. Unfortunately, we are not aware of a product that is labeled for crawfish. We would recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office for advice on what may have worked for others in your area.
Bifen Granules are an excellent option for ticks in your lawn.
Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules is not labeled for spittlebugs. A better option would be the liquid version Bifen IT, as long as you are not in California per the label.
Bifen Granules recently had a product label change and the new label no longer lists springtails as a target pest. We recommend Demand G Granules to control springtails and they can be used as a perimeter application or over your entire lawn. Children can safely return to the treated area after it is completely dry. Please refer to our How To Get Rid Of Springtails article to see proper treatment methods for the pest and where to look for sources of the nesting site.
Bifen L/P is best applied when air temperatures are above freezing and the ground is not frozen
