    Q
What is the correct usage rate of Bifen XTS when treating mountain pine beetles using a 2 gal sprayer?
I am using a 2 gal sprayer & need the correct ratio of Bifen xts to water.
    A
When treating for mountain pine beetles the product label recommends using 2.0 pints of product per 100 gallons of water. If you only need to mix 2 gallons at a time you will 0.64 oz of Bifen XTS diluted in 2 gallons of water. Treat the main trunk from the base of the tree to at least halfway into the live crown spraying the tree directly and until the bark is completely wet (usually 1 to 4 gallons of spray per tree). Be sure to read the Bifen XTS product label for complete usage instructions.

    Q
My centipede yard is infested with Spittlebugs.
How much Bifen XTS should I apply per 1,000 sf? Can I use an end-hose applicator?
    A
You will need to use 0.07-0.15 fl. oz. per 1000 square feet. You can use a hose end sprayer if it can be calibrated for the usage rate needed for spittle bug control. Please refer to the Bifen XTS product label for complete usage instructions.

    Q
Can I use this product on siding to prevent spider web formation?
I am looking for a relatively safe product with a long residual for our summer cottages to prevent spider web accumulation. Thank you.
    A
Bifen XTS will help kill spiders in the area but it can take 24-48 hours for spiders to die after they come into contact with the product and in that time they can form webs. We do carry WebOut Cobweb Eliminator which can help to help prevent the formation of new webs. We do recommend you use a really good insecticide such as the Bifen XTS around the base of the structure to help eliminate the spiders and the Webout in places where you need to discourage web formation for the best results.

    Q
Do you have to water in the Biffen XTS to treat for chinch bugs?
    A

    According to the manufacturer:

To maximize efficacy against subsurface pests, apply Bifen XTS with a non-ionic surfactant in enough water to ensure the spray penetrates to soil-thatch matrix. Irrigate treated areas with 0.25 to 0.5 inches of water immediately following application taking special care to prevent run-off or puddling.

  • Asked by Neith from Long Beach, Ca
    05/13/2013
    Q
Can I pour Bifen XTS into the sprayer, set it on 1 and go spray happy?
I have the product but my math is iffy. I have a 1 once per gallon hose end sprayer. I understand to rid myself of spider mite I need to use .07-.15 fl oz. So my question is if I set my sprayer to 1 should the product be cut or remain as is?
    A
Hose end sprayers are not the most accurate so for your application a hand pump sprayer would be much more preferred. At no time should you go "spray happy" with a rate at anything other than the label suggests. According to the label, for Spider Mites on ornamentals, you would use .38 -1.28 ounces per every 10 gallons of water. The Bifen IT would be better for your needs than the Bifen XTS as spider mites are not its main usage and is a much higher rate of the active ingredient, therefore causing you to have to dilute much further down for your needs. If your sprayer dial has options for teaspoons per gallon as well as ounces, and you can select an option for 2.5 teaspoons per gallon then your hose end sprayer can be used. Other wise you will need to change your application rate. Please look back over the product label for the product you purchased.

  • Asked by Tim from Omaha, Ne

    Q
I have a spider mite(I think) and springtail problem that is getting out of control. Would this work for both?
The mites are red and kind of hard. Not like clover mites that just squish and leave a red mark. I have tried a handful of pesticides from my local store and it looks like the mites are getting worse(hundreds)....I can see when they are laying eggs on my siding..... please help. Also, springtails are everywhere....this is getting out of control.
    A
First, we recommend contacting Your Local Cooperative Extension Office to positively identify what type of mite. after positive identification we can properly recommend a successful game plan to treat this pest. Also, please check out our article "How to Get Rid of Bird Mites in the Home".  We also have an article for silverfish control titled "Silverfish Pest Control".

  • Asked by Brian from Lansing, Michigan
    07/25/2013
    Q
What ratio do I mix Bifen XTS with water to kill fleas ?
    A
Bifen XTS is a little but different than most other insecticides. When using this product you will want to make sure you are getting correct usage rate of .15 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft in whatever amount of water you need to cover 1,000 sq ft. In this case water just acts as a carrier. If you need 1 gallon of water to cover 1,000 sq ft you will use .15 fl oz of Bifen XTS per gallon of water over 1,000 sq ft.

  • Asked by Ron from Milford, Pa

    Q
Mix ratio for carpenter ants on Bifen XTS.
Looking to mix ratio per gallon. Using a 1 or 2 gallon sprayer mixing with water for carpenter ants etc.
    A

Bifen XTS is mixed at 1/6 fl oz to 1/3 fl oz per gallon of water per the label.

Bifen XTS is labeled for carpenter ants. Bifen XTS will eliminate carpenter ants that come into contact with treated surfaces. Termidor SC is the more popular choice for carpenter ant control because it is non-repellent, has a delayed reaction kill and has a transfer effect. This means that the ants cannot detect that an area has been sprayed and cannot avoid the treated area, as they walk over the area they pick small particles of Termidor SC up on their body and inadvertently carry back to the colony spreading it to other ants.

    Q
What is the application rate of Bifen XTS for deployment around outside house foundation ?
Looking to stop pests & bugs from entering my house. In instruction label, it appears to say 1 gallon per 10 linear foot. True?
    A
The proper dilution rate of Bifen XTS is .32 of an ounce per gallon of water for outside general pest control.  One gallon of finished solution will cover approx 1000 sqft.  The lineal footage you are referring to is if you are doing a trench for termites.
