    Q
How soon after application with Bifen XTS for mole crickets on a pasture can livestock be returned for grazing?
I will be spraying at the rate of 8 oz per acre
    A
Bifen XTS is NOT labeled for and should not be used in grazing pastures at all. If you do have a grazing plot that was treated with the product then the grass should be allowed to grow high and then be cut several times before the horses can be turned out to graze again.

    Q
Can I spray my whole lawn with Bifen XTS?
I have many red fire ants and hills that have come up, plus an influx of picnic ants, spiders etc., in the house. I originally planned to just treat the external house perimeter, but now i want to go all out. I also want to repel mosquitoes. Is xts a good solution for thus and what sort of mix of concentrate would be good to go in a 2 gallon pump sprayer? And how much yard should a 32oz bottle cover?...thank you!
    A
Bifen XTS is not recommended for pest control indoors. To treat the pest you described indoors and out, you can use Bifen IT. You can apply Bifen around the perimeter of the yars, trees and shrubs, and indoors cracks and crevices. In the yard, you can apply Talstar Xtra Granular.

    Q
Bifen XTS in home - what are the negatives to this?
I read the label and it does state that it can be used in home (page 8). Just as long as it does not come in contact with food or cook/eating areas. So other than oil/water bases, what is the draw-backs to using it in home? Would it be ok to treat area baseboards/trim (leaving windows open) and leave for the day or over-night until it dries? I understand that all touchable as far as kitchen area would have to be thoroughly cleaned. Also how long does the odor linger for the XTS? Please help!
    A
Bifen XTS is oil based and labeled for outdoor use only. We do carry Bifen IT which contains the same active ingredient as the Bifen XTS but is a water based formula and labeled for indoor use.

    Q
How much to mix of Bifen XTS for a tree drench for scale and others
    A
The proper dilution rate of Bifen XTS is 0.26 to 1.28 of an ounce per 10 gallons of water per the product label.  Apply the specified rate as a full coverage foliar spray. As foliage and pest pressure increases, repeat application as needed using higher rates.

    Q
    Outdoor bedbugs
Help! I bought this for outside. We had mice in our garage, now bedbugs in the garage (mostly gone in house), but they are attacking anyone outside! And they come in on the feet/pants of anyone who doesn't check themselves. The gardeners, the plumbers, the contractors, the kids, does this kill Outside bedbugs? Our mild temperatures keep them alive here, and they're on the flowers, the succulents, the grass..anywhere there is moisture. I can't go out side, either front or back! Do I have to return this?
    A
We apologize but there is no such thing as outdoor bedbugs. Can you please use a glue board like what people often use to catch mice on around the house and try to catch one on it? Can you take a picture of some of them in clear light with focus so that we may try and identify what pest you are having outside around your home and in the garage? We look forward to hearing back from you and seeing pictures of the pests so that at that point we can make an accurate recommendation of a product for your needs.

Bifen XTS is not labeled to be used in areas that animals graze so would not be considered safe for animals to eat grass that was sprayed with it.  Could you please tell us what you are trying to control and we can see if we have a product you can use?

    Q
How long does Bifen XTS take to kill roaches?
    A
Bifen XTS will kill with minutes to hours depending the size of the roach. We typically do not recommend using Bifen XTS for roaches. We recommend using one of our Roach Control Kits.
The Roach Control Kit #2 is perfect for roach control problems in homes and apartments. This professional kit includes 1 packet of Demon WP Insecticide (which makes 4 gallons of finished solution) for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc. You'll also get 4 x 35 gram tubes of Invict Gold Roach Bait Gel--one of the best roach baits on the market. Invict Gold can be applied up high in the kitchen in the corner of cabinets and in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. The bait contains a slow-acting poison that attracts and kills feeding roaches, who also spread the bait to other roaches by contact or by sharing food. Finally, 20 Gentrol Point Source stations provide an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) that will stop roaches from laying eggs, helping to halt the infestation. The combination of an IGR with roach bait is a highly effective roach control strategy that is widely used by pest control professionals. -

    Q
    Talstar comment questions and concerns
I read two comments that concern me. One is that Bifen is not as versatile as Talstar and that Talstar doesn't seem to break down in the desert heat. Bifen XTS is obviously more potent than Talstar so how could this be? Aside from active ingredients are these two not basically the same?
    A
There are only a few similarities between Bifen XTS and Talstar P. They both contain the same active ingredient Bifenthrin, treat over 75 types of insects, and both work as a repellent.  Bifen XTS is oil based meaning it is only to be used outside the home because it holds up better in the elements. Bifen XTS is water resistant and can withstand UV Rays for 4-8 weeks outside. Talstar P is water based meaning it can be used indoors and outdoors. Inside Talstar P is used as a crack and crevice treatment and will leave a 90 day residual. Outside the home TalstarP can be used as ant mound treatments, as a broadcast spray over the entire yard, or as a perimeter treatment up against the structure.

    Q
    Does Bifen XTS kill scorpions?
    A
Bifen XTS is labeled to treat for Scorpions outside the perimeter of the home. Mix 1/6 fl oz -1/3 fl oz with 1 gallon of water, apply to a 10 foot wide band of soil andvegetation around and next to the structure, and treat the foundation of the structure to a height of 2 to 3 feet. Use a spray volume of 2 to 10 gallons of dilution per 1000 sq. ft. Trim back any bushes, shrubs or trees so they are touching the side of the house. This will limit the insects access to the house from ground only where they will come into contact with the active ingredient, Bifenthrin.

  • Asked by Glenn from Camp Nelson Ca
    03/06/2015
    Q
Will Bifen kill and prevent western bark beetles in large pine trees? What is the best mixture?
    A
Unfortunately, there is no easy solution when it comes to pine beetles. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with a synthetic pyrethroid like Bifen IT. You will mix one ounce per gallon of water. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations. You should contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best time to start spraying in your region.
