  • Asked by Ann from Stamford
    07/25/2017
    Q
Can Bonide Liquid Copper Fungicide Concentrate be used on tip blight on junipers?
Should brown spots be cut out first? No leaf - so how to spray ?
    A

Bonide Liquid Copper Fungicide Concentrate is labeled to be on ornamental shrubs but does not list Junipers. We would recommend reaching out to the local cooperative extension office in your county for confirmation regarding the use of Bonide Liquid Copper Fungicide on junipers.

The application rates are 0.5 to 2.0 fluid ounces of this product in a gallon of water. The infected twigs and branches should be pruned off about two inches back into live wood, and then prunings should be destroyed.

For best control, begin treatment 2 weeks before disease normally appears or when weather forecasts predict a long period of wet weather. Alternatively, begin treatment when disease first appears, and repeat as long as needed. Use 2 fluid ounces per gallon of water, sprayed every 7-10 days, following heavy rain or when the amount of disease is increasing rapidly.   If possible, time applications so that at least 12 hours of dry weather follows application.

    Pruning Tips:

    *  Prune only when plants are dry, and sterilize tools between each cut by swabbing them with a solution containing 1 part rubbing alcohol and 3 parts water or use a solution of 1 part household bleach to 9 parts water.
