    Can I use Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control on my dracaena marginata?
    The tree is 4ft wide and 6.5ft tall. It is in 19 inches x 15 inches of soil. If I can use this, how much will it take to treat each time?

    Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control can be used on potted plants, including houseplants if used as directed on the product label. Please find a rate chart on the product label for the amount of product per plant or container. For example, you will use 2.5 tsp of Bonide Systemic Insect Control Granules for a 4 inch houseplant.

    How much Bonide systemic granules should I use in a 10 gallon container plant?
    I have a Brugmansia (angel's trumpet) growing in a 10 gallon container and it's getting eaten by cucumber beetles and something else, leaves and flowers are being destroyed, also the bottom leaves are starting to turn yellow no matter what I do, I suspect the beetles brought in some other disease, how much granules do I use for a 10 gallon container? the brugmansia is 45 inches tall from top of the soil to top of the plant.

    Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control is applied at a rate of 1/3 cup to 2-gallon containers. For a 10-gallon container, you would need 1 and 2/3 cups.   Please refer to the product label for complete instructions.

    Does Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control kill nematodes
    I've had spider mites & other insects I cant identify, I've sprayed & sprayed with no control, now my plants are covered in clear worms, which I assume are nematodes. I've already lost 5 plant & can't loose more

    The Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control are not specifically labeled for nematode control, but most broad spectrum insecticides can be used to control them. If spider mites and similar pests have been a consistent issue, a systemic root/soil treatment with these granules would help provide a more consistent form of protection and control on the plant through the year/growing season. If you are spraying only with things like neem oil and they are not working, you may need to take the plants outside and spray them with a residual insecticide such as Talstar that lasts for 30 days, in addition to the systemic treatment. Talstar should also help with nematodes for most situations. Neither of these products should be used on edible vegetation.

    Is this product meant to be used as dry granuals directly in each pot?

    As stated on the product label under the Application Instructions section: "For best results. apply this product evenly, cultivating lightly, and water thoroughly. For containerized plants, apply the apropriate amount of granules evenly to the top of the sould. Mix the granules thoroughly into the top layer of the soil making sure not to damage the upper roots. Water thoroughly. To help assure that the roots can absorb the insecticide, do not watertoo heavily for the first 10 days. Work granules into the top 1 to 2 inches of soil. For flower beds, sprinkle granules evenly over the bed." Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions.

    Dosage for 3
    Your directions have dosage amounts for pot sizes from 1-gallon to 15-gallon pots. At present I need to dose smaller pots. These are house plants.

    Since the manufacturer's product label doesn't list container sizes in inches, you would need to convert your sizes from gallons to inces in order to determine an appropriate rate of Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control.  For example, a 1 gallon pot size is approximately 6 to 7 inches tall and wide, which would be a rate of 2.5 Tablespoons.  For additional information on converted rates for your containers, you can do a general internet search for containered conversion charts, or you can reach Bonide directly by visiting their contact page at https://bonide.com/contact-us/.

    Measuring Planters
    When applying systemic granules, do I measure the diameter of the planter, the depth of the planter, or the overall volume??? I'm uncertain which measurements are needed of the pot to ensure I measure the correct amount of granules for the plant.

    If I overapplied Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control to a house plant, can I mix the granules into the soil or will this injure the plant?

    Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control should have no effect if you over applied but that would also depend on how much was overused. The granules do need to be mixed into the top 2 inches of the soil and then watered in.

    Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control can be used on Houseplants, Flowers, Roses and Shrubs.Per the Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control label, for a 1 gallon containerized plant/size you'll use 2.5 tablespoons, for a 2 gallon you'll use 1/3 cup and for a 3 gallon you'll use ½ cup. If the container/plant is bigger or you need more detailed instructions, you may also contact the manufacturer, Bonide, at 1-315-736-8231.
     
     Bonide Systemic Houseplant Insect Control is only labeled for use on houseplants.

    Should aphids and scale be gone after 1 treatment?
    I have a bougenvillia tree that has aphids and a ficus tree with scale. Neither of these look majorly infested. Both of them are kept indoors and I have had them for 40 years. Do you imagine that 1 systemic treatment would solve the problem or would I have do something else? They are too large and heavy to take outdoors.

    Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control provides insect control for up to 8 weeks, but being a systemic that is taken up by the root system of the plant, it can take some time to take full effect.  You may need multiple treatments to control the aphids and scale on your plants.  You may want to read our article on How to Care for Indoor Plants for more recommendations.

    Applied Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control on my indoor plants for fungus gnats and seeing larvae again, can I retreat?
    I used the product as instructed: mixed it into the top soil of all my house plants, watered thoroughly, and left alone. Now, about a week later, I see tiny little gnat larvae crawling on the edge of my pots and in the soil. Do I treat again? Water? I am afraid to give the soil any extra moisture because that's how they thrive, and I don't want to kill my house plants. Thank you!

    Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control can only be applied once every 8 weeks. If you are seeing some activity, they are coming in contact with the treated area and will eventually die. The product is working, it just takes some time.

    Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control can be used outdoors to treat shrubs. Per the product label, you would need to apply evenly 1/2 cup per foot of plant height and water the application thoroughly.

    Applied Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control 1-2 weeks ago. A number of plants have a fuzzy white growth around the granules, is this a concern?
    A

    The Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control is made on a clay based carrier for the ingredients. Often fuzzy growth will start when there is excess moisture in the soil or on the top of the soil where the granules are sitting, causing little fungal growths. This can also often happen if they are fertilized regularly or over fertilized and the nutrients the plants cannot take up sit on the soil surface and being to grow into algae and fungus.

    According to the instructions on the bottles Product Label, it states for containerized plants this product should be incorporated into the top 1-2 inches of soil before being watered in, and for flower beds or shrub it can be sprinkled on just the surface. Try drying your soil/plants out a little as the label does state to not have the soil too wet over the first 10 days to ensure proper absorption of the chemical.

    How soon after applying Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control can I bring outdoor plants inside near other plants?
    Outdoor plants have mealybugs, I don't want them to spread to my indpor plants. How long after applying should I waot before bringing the plants in?
    A

    You will need to give it some time for the Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control  to be absorbed through the roots and translocate through the plant. It will depend on the size of the plant. We would recommend waiting at least 7 days before bringing the plants inside.

    For a foliar insecticide treatment in addition to the systemic granules, we would recommend Talstar P at the mix rate of 0.25 to 0.5 fl oz per gallon of water. Spray the foliage of the plants and allow the application to fully dry before bringing them back inside (typically a couple hours). Please view the product label for more information.

    Why does the top of my soil mold when using Bonide Systemic Houseplant Insect Control Granules?
    When I use Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control for the tiny flies around my plants my plant soil molds. Has anyone else had this happen or know why this might be happening.
    A

    We have not heard of this issue when using Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control.  Mold is a moisture issue, and in the soil it would be more like some type of algae typically. The granules also could be on a clay type material carrier, so sometimes that will not break down fully and can leave a white "moldy" look on the surface. We recommend you reach out to the manufacturer to see if they have some more insight.

    Can Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control be used on indoor containerized plants? The label only states "container plants" but do not see where "indoor use" is okay.

    Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control can be used on houseplants per the manufacturer following the container plant instructions on the product label. If preferred, indoor plants can be moved outside for the application and once the soil has dried then moved back indoors.

    Will Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control harm beneficial insects such as lacewings and ladybugs when treating potted plants inside a greenhouse?

    Yes, the Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control would kill ladybus or lacewigs if they contacted the treated plant.
