    Q
Is Bonide Systemic Insect Control safe to use around pets?
The restrictions on the label states "Do not apply this product in a way that will contact people or plants." Common sense is I would not spray directly on person or pet. But it is the product safe after it drys on the soil and leaves? Our cat loves to sleep under the rose brushes. Can't be too careful.
    A
Bonide Systemic Insect Control is pet and people safe once dry.  Pets and people should be out of the area until it is dry.

  • Asked by Liz from Southlake, Tx
    05/08/2015
    Q
Giant Bark Aphids on wax myrtle tree.
My local nursery sold me the systemic Insect Control to use as a DRENCH for my wax myrtle because I don't want to harm my lizards and geckos that hang out in the tree by spraying anything. I don't see instructions to use as a drench anywhere in package. Is it an option to use as a drench and if so, how much for a 26" trunk? Thanks.
    A
For aphid control you would mix 2 Tbs (1 fl oz) of Bonide Systemic Insect Control per gallon of water and spray entire plant covering both sides of foliage thorougly. Bonide Systemic Insect Control is not meant to be used as a soil drench. Instead, it is a foliar absorbed systemic insecticide.

    Q
What is the best spraying strategy to control Lace Bugs on azaleas? I plan to use a hose end sprayer.
I must have 40-50 azaleas. Some are 4-5 feet tall. Approx 25 were planted in 2014, Was planning to use drench with Imidacloprid but discovered it would be cost prohibitive.
    A
Bonide Systemic Insect Control is a very good product for lacebugs. You will use 1 1/2 fl. oz. per gallon of water. You will spray the entire plant, covering both sides of the foliage thoroughly.

    Q
I have bores at the base of my peach tree, can I spray captain jacks dead bug direct on the base of the tree,
and when can I do this. bob
    A
Unfortunately, Captain Jack's Dead Bug Brew Concentrate is not labeled for use on Peach trees. We would highly recommend the Hi-Yield Indoor/Outdoor Broad Use Insecticide with 10% Permethrin Insecticide. Apply when Insects appear. Do not apply within 7 days of Harvest. Do not make more than 8 applications per Season.

  • Asked by Sara from Colfax
    10/15/2014
    Q
What ratio of water to product do I use to kill tea scale on camellias and what time of year is best to spray?
    A

Per your local cooperative extension office, they would highly recommend treating the camellias with a combination of horticultural oil (for a foliar application treating the undersides of the leaves) and a systemic control product that contains the active ingredient, Imidacloprid as a soil drench at the base to treat tea scale. For timing and specific application times in the year, we recommend contacting the Master Gardener in your county. You can find their contact information by clicking the link below.
