    Would Bora-Care work on Sheetrock or concreate to prevent mold?
    If so, can it be painted with latex based paints?

    The regular Bora Care will not prevent mold growth. However, the Bora Care with Mold Care will kill and prevent future mold growth on a variety of surfaces including wood, cellulosic drywall (sheetrock), and concrete. You may paint surfaces after you have treated with Bora Care with Mold Care and allowed it to fully dry whichshould take about 72 hours.

    What do I use for Powder Post Beetles and how much for 2500 square for house.
    I had a company drop a tent over my house and Deck to fumigate it for powder post beetles. From what I can tell they are still there, or new ones have taken their place. Does this product kill these things and keep them at bay for a while. If so how much do I need, how often to use it and what climate conditions, is it safe.

    We are not very familiar with the process of tenting a home and how it affects the powder post beetles, their larvae thats in the wood, and if it prevents at all or just kills the ones within it. This would be a question you would definitely want to consult with the company that did the treatment on to find out how their treatment was supposed to work for your home. Typically if a customer was not tenting their home and had powder post beetles somewhere within it, you would only treat the wood that has them currently in it with a product like Boracare. Boracare is a wood treatment product that will absorb all the way into the wood and will kill any insects that are currently infesting it as well as last for the life of the wood to protect it from any future wood destroying insects like powder post beetles and termites. Boracare must be applied to raw wood only though so you cannot apply it to any beams or wood that has been painted, stained or finished in any way as it will not soak into the wood. If the wood you need to treat has paint or some finish on it, you would either need to remove it by stripping it or sanding it and apply the Boracare to the raw wood before refinishing it, or use a product like Jecta which is for sealed wood and is drilled and injected into the wood. Even after applying a product like Boracare to all sides of the infested raw wood (ideal situation) you can often still see signs of activity of the powder post beetles for a few years after treatment. This is because the product works through ingestion so as the larvae emerge from the wood (which is whenever they are good and ready) they eat the wood on their way out and ingest it and die. No new adults will be able to leave them in any holes in the wood as again, once they ingest it they will die. Normally tenting is used when the whole home is so infested with Powder Post Beetles that treating with products like Boracare and Jecta would be unreasonable.     Will Boracare penetrate the glue layer in plywood?
    We are treating powder post beetles in interior paneling.

    Boracare is specifically designed to be applied to plywood and any other raw wood surface that hasn't been stained or finished with anything like paint or a sealant.

    Will Boracare treat insects in pine wood?
    I have a 2x4 piece of pine wood that is near my shallow well water pump that has a hole on the 4" side about a foot long and I find sawdust on my pump, what is the insect and how can I get rid of it.

    This could be numerous types of wood destroying insects. We would recommend to apply Boracare to the wood very directly with a paint brush.

    Can BoraCare be used on previously infested termite wood?
    We have had a termidor treatment for subterranean termites drilled into slab/around house perimeter for an active infestation as well as some foaming around the activity indoors. However, I would like to know if we can still apply the boracare to the previously affected wood that we are still leaving in place to prevent future infestation? Can we use this product to spray the previously affected areas to prevent future further damage to these already affected pieces?

    Will Bora-Care kill severe black mold on plaster?

    No, Bora-Care is not labeled to treat or prevent mold.  However, we do sell an upgrade version of Bora-Care called Boracare with Mold-Care that is labeled to treat and prevent mold on wood.

    Can i use BoraCare to treat fungus and termite infested pepper tree trunks?
    We have been cutting down our dead trees infested with fungus and termites. we were told we need to throw them all out but I wanted to keep them to make steps and foot paths around our property. can i treat them with any of your product and do we have to strip the bark off the trunks?
    A
    BoraCare will kill any living plants and trees, so you could only use it if they are already dead or you don't mind if they are dead.  You would have to strip the bark and let the wood dry as much as possible before treating with Bora-Care.  The Bora-Care will kill any insects in the wood and neutralize fungus.  You would want to seal the wood after treating with a water sealant if they were going to be outside and exposed to rain for a long time.

    I have a log home that needs to be treated. How do I know how much Bora-Care to use?

    Will Bora-Care kill moss growing on a shingle roof?
    A
    Bora-Care is not labeled to be applied to shingles or anything other than wood. Although, it is labeled to kill wood destroying fungus, it is not labeled for moss or other building materials.  Unfortunately, we do not carry any other fungus type products. We are sure a Home Depot or other hardware store may have something.

    I would like to apply Bora-Care to the wood piers on my house.
    The piers are 8 inches thick and were treated when originally installed 40 years ago. How many coats will I need? Can the piers be stained afterward? The house sits up on piers that are 10 feet tall.

    You do not need two coats of Bora-Care unless the piers are more than 10 inches thick.  You should mix at a ratio of 1 gallon of Bora-Care to 1 gallon of water.  You can paint, stain, or seal after the Bora-Care has had at least 24 hours to dry.

    What can I use for termite protection for exposed treated beams of my 30 yr old house?
    I live in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in a concrete house with wooden beams that run from the exterior through the house and back out. The beams were treated with diesel fuel and old motor oil for years. Is there any alternative treatment at this late date or must I continue this yucky messy treatment?

    Bora-Care can only be used on wood that has not been painted, stained or sealed. We are unfamiliar with the diesel/motor oil treatment but we will assume that the oils have penetrated into the wood a bit and Boracare can most likely not be used on the wood. Unfortunately, Bora-Care is the only product that can penetrate into wood and provide long term protection against termites and other wood destroying pests.

    I'm installing an unfinished hardwood floor. Can Bora-Care be used to treat the sub-floor only?
    Do you think spraying Boracare on the raw sub-floor is sufficient to prevent termites or do I need to spray the flooring as well. I don't really want to get the flooring wet. Is there another method?

    Bora-Care can be applied to any raw wood that is not painted, stained or sealed.  It will only prevent termites from entering the wood that it is applied to.  Most of the time termites would have to eat through the sub-floor to get into the hardwood floors above, but there is no 100% guarantee that the termites will enter this way.  Treating the sub-floor would only ensure the termites do not get into the sub-floor.  If you want the hardwood floors protected as well, you should treat those also as long as they are unfinished.  Bora-Care dries on clear and is used for this purpose all of the time, so it is no problem to stain and seal the wood after Bora-Care has been applied.

    How can I treat powderpost beetles in painted church seats?
    I have a problem with powderpost beetles and it is in church seats. Please help me on that because all the seats are painted. So what do I have to do with it? Thanks a lot.

    The only way to treat the seats with an insecticide is to strip the paint and apply a product called Boracare. If that is not an option you can check with local pest control companies to see if they offer a fumigation chamber or heat chamber that would be the correct size to treat the chairs.

    Renovating shower stall, poured new slab do we need to treat surrounding studs?
    We removed our shower stall down to the studs. Poured a new concrete floor in the shower stall without pretreating for termites. Should we treat the surrounding studs for termite prevention before tiling? No current termite problems.

    Since it is not possible to treat below the slab since it has been poured, then yes, it would be a great idea to treat the exposed wood before closing the walls back up.

    Bora-Care is usually the preferred choice if most of the wood is exposed and it is raw wood you are treating, meaning it is not painted, stained, or sealed, it is just normal wood.  Bora-Care is made only for wood, and you do not have to know exactly where the termites are for it to work which is a plus.  Bora-Care is sprayed evenly over all exposed surfaces of the wood and actually penetrates through the entire piece of wood.  When the termites in the wood try to consume the wood after it has been treated, they ingest the Bora-Care with the wood and die.  No matter where they are in the wood the Bora-Care will find them as long as you treated the exposed wood that you can see.  The other main benefit is that Bora-Care stays in the wood forever, so you will not have to worry about termites or beetles infesting the wood that you treated ever again.
