Boracare can be used as a foam. You should only be concerned about getting the foam near the wood and studs. Typically when a company foams walls, they drill holes at the top of the ceiling on either side of the studs and foam down the stud from the ceiling. This way you have gravity working in your favor and you are getting the foam against the wood which is all that matters. You will need a foaming agent and a poly foamer. You will mix 2 gallons of hot water with 1 gallon of Boracare.
We would recommend to try and wait longer than 24 hours to seal up the wall. This will allow for the product to better soak into the wood. Since Bora-Care alone does not treat for mold if you seal up moisture, mold could be a concern.
The mixing ratio of Boracare depends on if you have a current wood-boring pest you are treating. If you do, we recommend mixing at a 1:1 ratio. If you are using Boracare as a preventative you can mix at a 1:5 ratio.
We ALWAYS recommend using a 1:1 ratio with Boracare because of 2 reasons. First of all, a 1:1 ratio is the strongest ratio and will ensure complete penetration through the wood and it will protect longer in the wood than any other ratio. Second, even though you are using new wood, or store-bought raw wood, it can still contain beetles and other insects from the mill. Applying a 1:1 ratio ensures that if there are any issues whatsoever, they are taken care of before they become a problem.
Yes, per the manufacturer Nisus, Boracare can be applied to kiln-dried wood or prior to being placed in a kiln. We would recommend allowing the application of BoraCare to completely dry and absorb throughout the wood before placing it in a kiln.
No, Bora-Care and the bottle itself does not need to be near your face and doesn't need to touch your skin.

To our knowledge, there is no wait time to apply Boracare after tenting.
Bora-Care may crystallize on some surfaces or stain drywall.
Bora-Care is a safe product and it is considered a green product as well. Typically, it takes about an hour for the surface of the wood to dry. After application has dried completely, it should be perfectly fine for children/pets/people to re-enter the treated surface area. Please read the BoraCare product label for complete usage instructions.
Bora-Care is only for use on raw unfinished wood, so the wood trim would have to have no stain, paint, or finish on it of any kind for the Boracare to absorb. If the wood is raw, you can use a small paint brush to dip in the mixed solution to paint on the trim carefully to not overapply on the marble. Any of the Boracare that gets on the marble can be removed with a warm wet rag.
Bora-Care can be applied to interior studs, joists, etc. Bora-Care is a very safe product and it is considered a green product as well. Bora-Care is diluted as directed in a separate container and mixed prior to putting into a sprayer and evenly applied to all sides of the raw wood or by painting on the surfaces. It should not be applied to wood that is stained, painted, varnished, sealed etc. Here is a chart with the amount needed based on the size of the lumber.
When using Bora-Care on painted wood, you should drill a hole every 6 inches up/down the stud/posts to ensure good coverage.
Boracare cannot be used through any type of smoker or fogger equipment. Boracare is to be applied to raw unfinished wood only and can be applied with a paint brush, roller, or sprayer after the product has been thoroughly mixed in a bucket with water first. If your plywood cabinet has any finish on it, or there are heavy amounts of glue within the material, the Boracare will have trouble penetrating into it and can take longer to absorb, and may leave an oily film on the surface that may need to be cleaned and removed with a wet rag or sponge with hot water.
The instructions for Bora-Care for basements (preventative and pretreatment): Use a 1:1 solution and apply in a 2-foot uninterrupted band to all structural wood surfaces in crawl spaces and basements. To prevent termite shelter tubes on crawlspace walls, apply to concrete or block walls in a 2-foot band up from the ground on interior wall surfaces. Apply at the rate of one gallon to 400 square feet of surface area.
You can apply it upstairs, however it can only be applied onto bare wood surfaces and voids. If you are looking to kill and prevent mold, please see Bora-Care with Mold-Care. It can be applied to bare wood, plywood, particleboard, and oriented strand board (OSB).
