boracare treatment
By John on 10/19/2015
mixing and distributing through a pump spray was perfect....however i am still spraying in certain spots in a crawlspace.....and cannot determine as of yet, if termites are dead....this treatment is more for preventative and a cure...

Boracare
By Brad on 02/01/2016
Seems to be killing the bore weevils we are having from some Mexican furniture. I am having to inject into the wood with a syringe in cracks and holes they have made since it is heavily stained already. But am finding dead ones each morning and less sawdust. So maybe I will have them all gone before it get ruined.

It Works!
By Shane on 06/08/2016
This stuff works well! It seems to be professional grade. I used it on my drywood termites to spot care around my home. I then dilluted it to spray completely around the foundation of my house, and so far, no more termite sightings. It takes care of them right through the wood!

Easy to use
By Bill on 02/06/2017
Easy to use on oak planks I knew were infested with powderpost beetles. I used a foam brush after diluting the Bora-Care in warm water (1:1 dilution). Interestingly, the Bora-Care does not immediately dilute in the water, so I initially thought I was doing something wrong as it stuck to the bottom of the bucket. Once it did dilute in the water, it happened quickly and completely. It did turn seem to darken the rough cut oak to some degree-not significantly, but enough that I can't give it 5 stars in the review. I am going to let the boards stand for another week or so before I start to work on them just to be sure of deep penetration. So far, no new frass on the floor under the boards. I may treat again after completing my project, just because I want to be sure I am not giving a friend a beetle problem along with the coffee table I am making for them.

Patience...
By Brooke on 07/06/2018
Is the key. I bought a piece of reclaimed wood furniture that was infested with powder post beetles (of course, I didn't know what was going on until I'd had it for two years). After talking to 2 exterminators, who said to throw the furniture away, I decided to try Bora-care myself. I soaked down the furniture up right, and upside down, twice--then I waited. After several months, I did it all over again and let it sit for 9 more months. After a full year, I thought we were totally in the clear and moved it back into the house. Now, after 3 months in the house, I have a small patch of sawdust. I feel confident enough to spray the small space multiple times and continue to use it. I mean, this linen chest was INFESTED. You have to allow a long time for this to sink in but, for me, it was worth trying to save my furniture that I love. I do believe it works to the fullest, you just have to invest the time if you want to save the wood!

Not Great
By Greg on 06/14/2019
I bought this product to treat powder post beetles in an old barn. After buying I discovered that the coverage from a gallon is so little (my fault for not verifying before buying) that I would need to spend hundreds of dollars to treat the whole barn. Nonetheless, I tried to mix up the gallon I bought (1:1 with water) and found it very difficult to impossible to get the product to thoroughly mix with the water as it is very thick and gloppy. I wouldn't recommend.

excellent product and easy to use
By Daniel on 10/18/2019
this is way easy to treat and prevent termite to do your self, I also ordered premise foam termiticide, you can use needle loacated termite nest, then drill a small hole, use foam termiticide the pressure will force termiticide into wood and spread out, when termite contact it, they will die. after couple days wait wood dried, I use liquid wood fill up termite damage area. it is so easy and save lot money to hire some one to do it. most of all, this company has excellent customer support, my first package was broken and Bora care leaking out, and foam termiticide was missing. after I contact them, they resend my order very fast and with out charge any thing. very good products and excellent customer service.

Saved a ton of money using this instead of termite company
By Sil on 01/31/2020
Easy to mix. I used a paint brush for boracare. Liquid consistency even with 1 to 1 ratio. I used it for the attic and garage. Termite company never want you to use this because they will go out of business. I also saved a ton of money by doing it myself. Lots of work for me but well worth it to not have any dry wood termites anymore. Good preventive measure by using bora care. Customer service at domyown were A ++++. I called several times for help in using this. I am by no means a handy person. I can only do caulking and now painting boracare.

Bora-Care
By Mary on 02/28/2020
Domyown.com was terrific! The ordering process was easy, it arrived earlier than expected. A big name pest company wrote in their formal pest report that my home needed to be tented and gased. That not only I, but my tenants would need to be out of the house for 5 days! All this because I saw TWO, small holes with sawdust in my new hardwood floors. The pest company stated they would first spray Bora-Care in the basement, under the area of the, only two, posthole beetle holes. My son went under the house in the crawl space, saw no evidence of beetles, saw no sawdust. I decided to order Bora-Care and treat the areas myself. In reading about the product, it seemed fairly non-toxic. I purchased a glass eyedropper, mixed a few table spoons of Bora-Care as directed. I got down on my bedroom floor, carefully directed the Bora-Care into the 2 holes. Unbelievable...I saw the beetle start trying to climb up out of the hole! It didn't live long, I watched it die right there in the hole!! :). I killed it!! Needless to say I felt highly successful, but also mad the pest company would report I needed a $5000 tenting for the situation!! So far so good, haven't seen any other posthole beetle activity. Need to add, I am a 64 year old woman! Thank you DoMyOwn.com for providing the exact product the pest company was going to use!!!

DoMYOwn Saved me A LOT of money!
By Debbie on 12/21/2021
Dear DoMyOwn, I wanted to say, Thank You, because without this site, countless people would be wasting a lot of their hard earned money on companies trying to take advantage when there is a pest problem in their homes, I almost fell for it myself. Without this site, I would of ended up paying a pest company $750 to spray my basement for Post Powder Beetles. I bought this product which is SO easy to use, just mix with water and start spraying!

Love this product
By John on 06/14/2024
Had subterranean termites in my master bath shower; the builder left an opening around the drain that gave them access. After demolition of the shower to the studs, I could see the pathways and damage. We drilled the foundation and treated with termiticide. Then I asked myself, how can I be confident I won't do this again? The answer was this Bora Care. Easy to mix (hot water!), painted it on with a paint brush. Coated the baseplate and studs up 2 feet. Coated the concrete inside where the shower will be rebuilt. I did not use dye since it was a small space. I really appreciate this solution, the product and the videos. 3 termite treatment companies were called out for draft plans and quotes. None mentioned this permanent solution. In my opinion, this is the cheapest insurance I could buy!

Easy to use
By Alice on 06/04/2012
I was surprised at how easy this product was to use. Rather than pay a pest company to tent our home we chose to spray our entire attic with Bora Care. Why?? Because we don't want future infestations of termites! Bora Care information says that once sprayed, termites cannot exist in the wood. It is very important to take sprayer apart after each use and rinse each part as otherwise it does harden in the sprayer. Because it takes time to soak in, we won't know how effective the product is for some period of time. But I am tracking to be able to share results in the future.

Bora Care

Hope it works as advertised
By Frank on 06/18/2012
The Boracare arrived very quickly so I was able to use it as soon as I was able. I followed the mixing instructions, which recommended a drill attachment stirrer for this viscous product. Application with a sprayer went well and the only downside is that I'll need another case to be able to finish the job. I was using the Boracare on an old barn and the coverage was only about 200 sq. ft. per mixed 1to1 gal. recommended for active infestation control. I can't tell the effectiveness of the product yet on my application as I only used it the day before yesterday.

Bora-Care Used to Architectural Artifacts.
By Carl on 06/25/2012
We plan to use a Bora-Care solution to conserve archeologically recovered building components from the site of the 1646 iron making operation at Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site. Treated oak and pine artifiacts are to be preserved in historic museum collections in order to provide insight into industrial and domestic architecture of colonial New England.

Order online
By Daniel on 08/05/2012
It was was easy to research and order online. I decided to try BORA-CARE as it is supposedly effective and relatively nontoxic to humans. I also needed it as soon as possible, as it was holding up my project. Thinking it would take a week for the free delivery, I was very surprised to see it arrive in three days! In the end, it was very easy to apply.

Noting Better
By Jonathan on 11/04/2012
Had termites eating through floor and entertainment center. Sprayed it down with boracare and next day termites were gone. I've used it for years as a pre-treatment and a kill now product. Cheaper products may work as well but I will stick with Bora-Care for all termite issues. domyownpestcontrol.com had it to me in two days for the cheapest price A+++++

Powder Post Beatles in hardwood floor
By Don on 12/14/2012
When I couldn't get Terminix to commit to treating the powderpost beatles in my hardwood flooring, Boracare to the rescue. Given the fact that the flooring was glued to a concrete slab, it would have been both expensive and difficult to remove the infected pieces. I simply saturated the infected area with a 5 to 1 ratio mix, let stand for a few days and voila the little guys were dead. Thanks DoMyOwnPestControl.

Great folks to work with
By Gr on 02/11/2013
This is my second order from do my own pest control, and i am certain not my last. shipping is fast and products are top notch as well as tips and instructions. i used this boracare to treat some powder post beetles in old barn wood - works like it should. had a buddy who treated his rough sawn barn framing and siding with it before he built the barn, now thats a smart idea if you have powder post beetles and carpenter bees like we do in our area.

Excelent Product, Excellent Company
By Anonymous on 06/22/2013
We had hardwood termites on some of the large cedar posts on our porches. We applied BoraCare in August 2012 to all of them, following the instructions carefully. Used the entire gallon on 15 posts that are approximately 12'' in diameter. So far, no signs of termites and an added bonus: paper wasps stopped chewing on the wood!! Note that the overspray is extremely sticky but it dries perfectly on concrete.
