You will not get the same spray pattern that you do from a bit farther away. If you are able to get that close, then you can also use a swatter. If you have an ongoing fly problem, then we do have lots of great professional products for a complete treatment. Please see our Fly Treatment Guide for more information.

That is really up to you. You should be using only table salt in the Bug-A-Salt Gun, however this product is not designed as a food-handling or serving product. We would not recommend spraying the Bug-A-Salt where there may be exposed food since we do not necessarily enjoy eating insects.

Table salt is the only thing recommended for use in the Bug-A-Salt Fly & Bug Salt Gun and it can unfortunately get clumpy in areas with high hunidity. One suggestion is to add uncooked rice to the container that you store the salt in so that the rice will absorb moisture from the salt. (Do not put rice in the Bug-A-Salt gun). You can also remove any build up inside the gun by soaking it in hot water and letting it dry completely before adding salt. Also, the cartridge will hold enough salt for 50 shots, but you can try only adding salt as needed or ½ amount so that the salt does not sit and gather moisture between uses. For further suggestions, please contact SKELL INC at 310-392-3288.
