Can Bio Advanced 3 in 1 Insect Disease & Mite Control RTU be applied around the trunk, directly into the soil?

The columnar spruce tree is quite tall and will be very hard to spray. The nursery told me to put it around the base of the tree but the instructions indicate otherwise.
