Sevin Insecticide Granules is not specifically labeled to control cicadas, it may kill those that contact a treated area but would be very limited results. There are not any products specifically labeled for them as they do not live long enough to be considered an economic pest. The females cause more damage than the males but the adults only emerge to mate and die. The next generation hatches 6-10 weeks after death. The females lay their eggs under bark. Larger trees can survive the some damage. They don't survive long enough for the products to be effective.
