Can I use Altriset to address a carpenter ant issue similar to how Termidor is used?

I am looking for the safest (least hazardous) option for perimeter treatment of home in central PA targeting carpenter ants.

Answer:

Unfortunately Altriset is not labeled for use against carpenter ants. Altriset is labeled for subterranean termites only. Almost all of the concentrated liquids that are labeled for carpenter ants do have a bit of a higher level of toxicity than you may be comfortable with. Products such as Termidor SC are still very safe you just need to be sure you are reading and following the product label. Once Termidor SC is applied as a perimeter treatment it will only last for about 6 weeks in the environment. If Termidor SC is not for you, there are other viable options such as baiting. One of the least hazardous treatment options would be a bait such as Intice Granules. According to the Intice Granular Bait MSDS "The product is considered practically non-toxic via the oral, dermal or inhalation routes and not considered dermally irritating or sensitizing".
