Can I use Monterey Liqui-Cop on my red delicious apple tree that started losing its leaves a month ago?

Now the bark on a area of the trunk has fallen off and the wood is dead looking there is a light brown powder on it. Is this what I needed or is it something else?

Answer:

Yes, Monterey Liqui-Cop can be used on apple trees for various diseases. The rate is 4-6 teaspoons per gallon of water. This can be applied as a dormant spray post harvest before fall rains. We recommend consulting with an arborist or master gardener to be sure you have a correct identification of what is ailing your tree.
