Can you recommend a product to apply to my lawn to kill wire grass grass in tall fescue?

How often would I apply the product and what is the best time to apply?

Answer:

Wiregrass is a form of bermudagrass, so to start we want to be clear that Bermuda can be suppressed but it is VERY difficult to kill completely.  It will take multiple applications to kill completely but Fusilade is normally the go-to product for this issue, though it states on the label it is not for residential lawns.  Other options are Turflon Ester or Acclaim which do not list this restriction on the labels.  The best time to apply any product would be in the Spring as the Bermuda is just starting to green up; Fall applications would have limited or no result since the grass is going into dormancy.
