    Q
My pet is stuck to a glue board trap! How do I remove the glue from my dogs paws?
    A
The glue from Catchmaster Mouse and Insect Glueboard Trap can be removed using vegetable oil.  If you happen to get a lot of oil on your dogs paw getting the glue off, you can remove the vegetable oil by using Dawn or some other degreaser/cleaner.

    Q
My dog ate one of the glue boards, will this harm him?
    He ate about 1/3 to a 1/2 a box.
    A
Your dog would have to eat "huge" quantities of the actual glue for there to be any risk of poisoning. As with any non-food item your dog consumes, you should monitor him to be sure everything he ingested passes through his system. If you suspect that the glueboard has not passed within a reasonable amount of time or your pet stops eating, you should contact your vet.

    Q
How often should these Catchmaster Glue Boards be changed?
    Main purpose; Spider extermination.
    A
The glueboards will remain good for a length of time depending on where you place them.  They would need to be replaced if either the board becomes full with insects, or it becomes too dusty which will coat the glue and it will not be sticky.  Typically you would replace every 30 days.

    Q
Can I use the Catchmaster Mouse/Insect Glue Boards under my bed?
Is it advisable to put these under a bed? I have them by each bed post, but I didn't realize they were baited. I'm a bit concerned they could attract a spider and it could avoid the trap and crawl up the bed post. Especially, if the trap is too dusty. Any suggestions for bed defense?
    A
You did not indicate what pest you are trying to capture with the glue boards but since you mentioned that you were placing the boards by each bed post we will assume that the pest in question is bedbugs. The Catchmaster Glue boards are peanut butter scented to help lure rodents onto the boards but they do not have any special baits or attractants that would lure spiders or any other insect. These boards are most effective when they are placed where insects travel. To help stop the glue from getting too dusty you can fold it up into a box shape (you can see the glue board folded into a box on the Catchmaster glue board page on our website). We do have the Climb-up Interceptor that is made specifically to capture bedbugs as they try to climb on and of the bed and we also have the Catchmaster BDS which is a type of glue board made specifically for bedbugs and they can be placed in small cracks and crevices around your bedframe.

    Q
What is a kid-safe method to remove mice from our house?
We have mice inside our house, evident by the droppings we find. We have 3 small children and we need a good method to remove the mouse problem ASAP with a kid-friendly method. Also, we have an older home and need to seal the outside to prevent further issues. Suggestions?
    A

For capturing mice in a house, there are many things you can use.  Mice usually hide behind appliances and in other areas that kids cannot easily get to.  Glue boards and snap traps usually work really well. Of course, you would not want to place these in the open where the kids could access them.  We also carry live catch traps which you can place in areas that are not so confined as there is nothing that the kids could get hurt from or stuck on.  As far as exclusion, you should use whatever method necessary to close all openings.  Expanding foam is often used but mice can chew through this foam which is why you should use Stuf-Fit copper mesh in the holes before foaming.

    Q
What are the small red crawling bugs I see in my bathroom? I have cats and live in a condo.
What would be safe and easy to use?
    A
For a proper identification we recommend using glue boards to gather a sample of the insect and take it to your local extension office in your county. The local extension office can do a free identification of the insect for you. Without knowing exactly what type of insect you are treating we are unable to recommend any products to you. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

  • Asked by Don from Naples, Florida

    Q
Do you have a product that gets rid of Bufo Toads?
    A

There are no toxic products labeled for frogs or toads (or reptiles for that matter), and given the highly beneficial nature of these amphibians there is not likely to be anything coming along. The reasons they are on your property are because they can find food and proper habitat, and these are probably your only means for making them go away. Take away their food and they will forage somewhere else. Take away the conditions they need for hiding all day and they will seek refuge someplace else.

Habitat modification may be the more effective way to limit frogs on your property. Frogs are mainly nocturnal, and they seek food at night when it is cooler and damper. During the day they look for cool, damp, dark places to hide. They will hide under dense shrubbery or ground covers, under logs or lumber on the soil, or under large landscape rocks and timbers to avoid the hot, dry sun. Trim shrubbery, remove thick ground-cover, stack lumber or firewood off of the soil a few inches and remove any other objects or debris that come in contact with the soil and can provide harborage. Limit watering to help eliminate moisture from your yard. You can also reduce the amount of insects (the frogs food source) in your yard by treating the grass with a residual insecticide such as Talstar PL.
