    Q
Is Boric acid powder safe to use in your cabinets?
    A
Every boric acid product is different and it is important that you follow the product label on the boric acid product you purchase. According to the product label on CB Borid Boric Acid Dust you can use this product in food/serving areas directly in cracks, crevices and voids being careful not to apply to surfaces where food will come into direct contact.

    Q
Will Borid Boric Acid kill adult fleas & their unhatched eggs?
    A
CB Borid Boric Acid Dust will kill adult fleas but it will not kill their eggs.  This particular formulation of boric acid is not labeled to broadcast over your carpet.  However, if you have fleas inside your home it is very important to use a product with an IGR in it when treating for fleas.  We do have an Indoor Flea Kit which has a dust product labeled for broadcasting over your carpet as well as Alpine Flea Insecticide Aerosol with IGR.

    Q
Will boric acid work for treating termites?
The ceilings in my house are all wood. I read that boric acid is a non toxic way to treat termites, and that it's efficacy will last forever if left undisturbed. However, in your product description, termites are not included as a "Target Pest".
    A
Boric Acid dust is not a good way to treat wood.  You may be referring to Timbor, which is a boric acid dust that you mix with water and apply on wood.  However, Timbor will leave a white residue on wood.  Also it can only be applied to raw wood, it cannot be applied to any wood that is painted, stained, or sealed.  The best wood treatment product is called Bora-Care.  It will stay in the wood forever, and dries clear, but you still can only apply it to raw wood that is not painted or treated.

    Q
Does Boric Acid kill bed bugs?
    A
Boric acid will not work for bedbugs because it has to be ingested to kill the insect. Bedbugs have sucking, piercing mouth-parts which do not allow them to ingest the powder. Other dust insecticides such as Alpine Dust or Tempo Dust work from the outside and will kill bedbugs. Please see our bedbug kits to see the products we recommend to be used to get rid of bedbugs.

    Q
Can I mix CB Borid Boric Acid Dust with water and sugar to get rid of Argentine ants?
I was told to mix Boric acid with water and sugar, to eliminate Argentine ants on my property. Is this the right stuff? I don't see anything that says to mix it with water.
    A
Mixing CB Borid Boric Acid Dust with water and sugar would be considered an "off label use" and as such we cannot recommend you do it. Mixing boric acid dusts with water and sugar is a long used home remedy type treatment for ant infestations. There are many products on the market today that are more effective than boric acid mixtures. We offer a Complete Ant Kit that comes with all of the products you will need to treat an ant infestation. We include two different types of bait in the kit to suit the ants nutritional needs and to encourage bait acceptance.

    Q
What is the color of CB Boric Acid dust?
I would like to know what color the product is and if it is hard to see after application. I may forget where I applied it, and I wouldn't want my dog or cat to get into the treated areas.
    A
CB Borid Boric Acid dust is white. If you apply the product according to the product label, it will only be in cracks, crevices, voids and other areas that will be inaccessible to your pets. You should also purchase and use a hand duster to help you apply the product correctly. Any dust that is visible after the application should either be swept into the intended area using a soft paint brush or vacuumed up.

    Q
I've had Borid down in my kitchen for a month and the roaches are only getting worse.
I'm careful not to leave food out.
    A

It is important to understand that Borid Boric Acid Dust is only going to work on those roaches that actually comes into contact with it. The majority of roaches live in cracks, crevices and wall voids and only come out when absolutely necessary. Borid Boric Acid Dust has nothing in it to actually attract the roaches so it must be strategically placed into the places where roaches live and it takes several days for the roaches to actually die after they ingest the dust during which time they can continue to breed. We recommend using a roach bait gel, an insect growth regulator and an insecticide spray for faster results. Please check out our Roach Control Kit # 2. This kit comes with all of the components to control roaches quickly.

    Q
How effective is borid (ORTHOBORIC ACID 99.0%) in treating for brown recluse spiders?
    A
Cb Borid Boric Acid dust is not labeled for spider control at all. This is because boric acid must be ingested to be effective and spiders cannot ingest the product because of their sucking piercing mouth parts that only allow them to ingest sucked up liquids. Please see our Spider Control Kit for the best products for a spider infestation.

    Q
What about toxicity in pets if the animal consumes the bugs that have ingested CB Boric Acid Dust?
Our cat is catching some of the German cockroaches that come out at night and is eating them.
    A
Boric Acid has a very low toxicity to mammals. The very minute amount your cat may ingest from eating a roach that has been in contact with the product would not be enough to cause any type of reaction.

    Q
Does CB Borid Boric Acid Dust work on Fire Ants?
    A
CB Borid Boric Acid Dust is labeled for all ants except for carpenter ants. You should note that CB Borid Boric Acid Dust works by ingestion and can take up to two weeks to kill ants that ingest the dust. We do have several fire ant baits that actually attract the ants, they consume it and then share it back at the colony. Using a fire ant bait product is usually more effective than using boric acid dust alone. You can see our selection of fire ant baits by clicking here: Fire Ant Bait

  • Asked by Mike from Norcross
    11/03/2014
    Q
    Will Boric Acid Kill Fleas?
    A

Yes, some boric acid products, like CB Borid Boric Acid Dust, will kill adult fleas, but it will not kill their eggs. This particular formulation of boric acid is not labeled to broadcast over your carpet. This product is limited to be used in areas that are not readily assessable such as in wall voids.

If you have fleas inside your home it is very important to use a product with an IGR (insect growth regulator) in it, such as Ultracide. This product will be broadcast across your carpet and areas where the fleas are seen. You will need to vacuum daily for 14 days and do a follow up treatment. Depending on the severity of the problem, you may have to do subsequent treatments. Make sure to vacuum daily in between all treatments.

    Q
How can I use CB Borid Boric Acid Dust in a Vegetable garden?
I have hundreds of brown ants in my vegetable garden and front lawn. I have used boiling water, put a torch to them and set out traps. But I need to lower the population or rid them completely. Will Borid work if put on a plate or in a little makeshift box?
    A
CB Borid Boric Acid Dust is not labeled for use in vegetable gardens and wouldn't hold up well outdoors either. We would recommend using our Outdoor Ant Control Kit.
