    Q
    Does Celsius kill sedge?
    A
Celsius is not labeled for sedge weeds. We recommend you choose a product that is labeled for sedge such as ProSedge Herbicide, Sedgehammer, or Dismiss Turf Herbicide. You can always check a product label before making a purchase on our website to make sure the weed you are trying to eliminate is listed. There is a link for the product label under the picture of the product on each individual product page.

    Q
How much surfactant do you use per gallon when mixing with Celsius?
    A

The amount of surfactant you use with Celsius per gallon of water is going to depend on the brand of surfactant you use. It is recommended to use a non-ionic surfactant with Celsius. The two most common non-ionic surfactants we sell are Southern Ag Non-Ionic Surfactant or Hi-Yield Spreader Sticker. Please refer to the product page for each surfactant to determine how much needs to be mixed per gallon of water.

  • Asked by John from Santa Rosa Beach Fl
    03/15/2018
    Q
how much celsius do i add per gallon of water?
    A

As with most herbicides the exact volume of water is not very important, you just need to be sure you are getting the correct amount of product on a specific area. Celsius may be applied at three different rates depending on the weeds to be controlled. For the appropriate rate and species consult USE RATES FOR WEED CONTROL section on the Celsius product label. For spot applications, add the specified product rate of 0.057-0.113 oz (1.6-3.2g) to enough water to create approximately 1 gallon spray solution. One gallon of spray solution will treat up to 1,000 sq ft. For maximum weed control with broadcast applications, add non-ionic surfactant.

  • Asked by Lynn from Lake Mary, Fl
    08/11/2017
    Q
How soon after you apply the Celsius WG can you expect to see the weeds die?
Do you need to water it in after applied? Wetting agent necessary?
    A

Depending on the weed you're treating, it could take anywhere from 1-4 weeks for you to see results with Celsius WG Herbicide. Weed control may be reduced if application is made in the prescense of heavy dew, fog, and mist/rain or when weeds are under stress due to a drought. For best results, do not irrigate until spray has dried. For maximum weed control with broadcast applications, add a non-ionic surfactant.

  • Asked by Joshua from Jacksonville, Fl
    10/04/2016
    Q
Why do you say Celsius can not be used above 85 degrees?
The label does not limit the use of Celsius to temperatures below 85 degrees. There are cautions about using surfactants and also a note about the possibility of Celsius causing temporary stunting of St. Augustine grass in hot weather. If you read some of the popular lawn forums they actually claim Celsius works better the hotter it gets.
    A

As long as the temperature during the application of the Celsius WG Herbicide  is not 85 degrees or above, then it does not matter what temperature it reaches mid day. The best time to apply herbicides is either early morning when dew is still fresh on the ground or late afternoon when the lawn and weeds are under less stress from the environment. Temperatures over 85 degrees will cause extra stress on your desirable turf, possibly causing damage.

  • Asked by Mark from Palm Beach Fl

    Q
Bayer's Celsius Has Little Effect oN Crabgrass
I have tried Bayer's product Celsius (WHICH YOU SELL) in my South Florida st aug lawn on post emergent crabgrass. It is my belief (and many others) that this product is falsely advertised. The only product that truly kills crabgrass is Asolux
    A
Cesius is only labeled to control Large Crabgrass and there are other varieties such as hairy and smooth that are not on the label as listed weeds it will control.  That could be why some are not having the success they would when using for the specific type of crabgrass they have.  Unfortunately, we are unaware of a selective post-emergent herbicide to control crabgrass in a St Augustine lawn.  St. Augustine is a very fragile grass, and so most selective products that are labeled to remove crabgrass and not harm your grass.  It is recommended to kill the crabgrass with a round up type product, like GlyPhoSel Pro, which will also kill just the St. Augustine around the crabgrass that it is sprayed on, and then a couple weeks later re-seed those areas with new St. Augustine.

For long term control though, you should apply a pre-emergent in the late fall and early spring which will prevent new crabgrass from coming up next year.  If you apply pre-emergent every year, you should not have issues with crabgrass long term.  Dimension 2EW is one of our most popular pre-emergents for crabgrass.
