Certainty Herbicide can be applied after weeds have emerged, up to temperatures of 85 degrees.
Certainty Herbicide does list woody ornamentals, perenial ground covers and warm season ornamental grasses on the label as tolerable to application.
Certainty Herbicide - 1.25 oz. does not need to be watered in after application. Rainfall or irrigation within 2 hours after application can inhibit results. Best applied when rain is not expected within 24 hours.
We cannot recommend that you use any Atrazine product on your zoysiagrass since it will not be labeled as safe to use on this type of grass. A better choice woud be something like Certainty Herbicide which is labeled for post-emergent control of poa annua in both zoysia and centipede grasses. If you are having trouble with pre-emergent control of this weed, then you may need to adjust the timing of your application and/or consider rotating the active ingredient you are using.
Per the Certainty Herbicide product label you would apply 1.25 fl oz per acre so it would be 5 (0.16 g) small scoops (or 1 large 0.8 g) per 2 gallons per 1000 sq ft. Add 2 tsp (1/3 fl oz) of non ionic surfactant per gallon of water.
Herbicides and insecticides should not be mixed. It is recommended to apply Certainty Herbicide and then apply an insecticide separately.
The amount of Certainty will depend on what type of turfgrass you will be applying the product to and the amount of water you use will vary as the water acts as the carrier. On average with herbicides you will use 2-3 gallons of water per 1000 sq/ft to give sufficient coverage. Please click on the product label link for specific mixing and application instructions.
Certainty will not kill crabgrass. Quinkill Max is a great product to kill actively growing crabgrass in Bermuda.
Certainty, Drive and Celsius should not all be tank mixed together and there would be no valid reason to do so. They are all post emergents herbicides and applying too much can stress and harm your lawn as well as the weeds and make none of them very effective. They are all labeled for most of the same weeds, so one would be good to use alone.
While Certainty and Prodiamine can be mixed together with no issue, Prodiamin is only going to prevent spring germinating weeds from coming up and only if you are getting it down prior to soil temperatures reaching 50-55 degrees as that is when seeds germinate. Also, poa annua is a fall germinating weed so a spring application will not prevent anymore of it coming up. You would need to use something like the Prodiamine in the fall around Sept-Oct 15th to effectively prevent it the next year.
Yes, once Certainty has dried completely, it is safe for pets and people.
Certainty Herbicide is labeled for suppression of virginia button weed. Per the product label: For suppression of buttonweed apply this product at the rate of 1.25 ounces per acre. This application will provide suppression or control of buttonweed for 4-6 weeks. To ensure control, tank mix with a broadleaf herbicide labeled for control of virginia buttonweed.
Another product we carry that will control virginia buttonweed is Fertilome Weed Free Zone. Apply the weed free zone at the rate of 1.5 oz - 2 oz. per gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft
Unfortunately, Certainty Herbicide is not labeled for spurge. We would recommend a product like Monterey Spurge Power, as it is labeled to be used in a Bermuda lawn. You would not want to do any seeding any sooner than 3-4 weeks after application of this product.
The Certainty Herbicide label states the best results are obtained when target weeds are actively growing and not disturbed by mowing for at least 2 days before and 2 days after an application.
