This product works well to kill crabgrass in Zoysia grass. Kills crabgrass dead in 3 days and does not phase the Zoysia. It will not kill Oxalis.

5 of 5 stars  Does The Job
By Dave in Schuylerville New York on 09/15/2013

I had a full yard of crabgrass. Not just patches it truly had taken over my yard. I was searching for a product with that was legal in NY. This fit the bill and is the same as other products I had found but could not get shipped to NY. I followed the directions on the label mixed it and sprayed. Took me 4 or 5 hours to do the entire lawn. Saw the grass turning orange in about a 4 days and then it died. I dethached the yard and hand raked out the dead stuff. Re seeded and covered with straw and am watching it establish itself. This product did not kill the grass just the crabgrass and clovers. I will add a pre-emergent next spring and keep my fingers crossed. Great product in my experience

1 of 5 stars  Waiting for results.
By in Port Washington, WI on 06/04/2013

Applied and after 5 days no results. Called customer support and was told could take 2 weeks depending on how long after the crab grass sprouted. It also might take another application. I did notice some yellowing after one week. I mixed 1 and 1/2 oz per gallon of water and used a spreader sticker. I will update this review in a week to see what happens.

By in Auburn, AL on 07/15/2013

I used this in my lawn because crabgrass had almost taken over my bermuda grass. I sprayed it about a week after cutting the lawn and within 48 hours I could see results. It has been 2 weeks since I sprayed and the bermuda grass now has a chance to grow back.

By M. in Groveland, Fl on 09/04/2017

I've sprayed my crabgrass (wet them down very good) twice over a period of one week between spraying and I see absolutely no signs of the grass dying. I left a few not sprayed for a test, and I see no difference between the ones sprayed and not sprayed. I may try again, but it seems like this stuff just doesn't work.

By D in Memphis, TN on 09/04/2017

This product made the crabgrass unhealthy, but had to be sprayed four times to be even partially effective. The Bermuda grass turned brown also but some of it is coming back. I didn't find this to be a very good product.

  • 5 of 5 stars  Crabgrass invasion
By Rachel in Clinton, utah on 08/29/2017

I kept putting off the few crabgrass plants that showed up along the edge of my yard and sidewalk. When I went out to deal with it it had taken over a full 3 feet into the yard. Tried spraying Ortho and after a week took the hint it wasn't doing it. Bought this and sprayed it all over. It took the full three days before it was noticeably working, 5 days in and the crabgrass and clover are quite yellowed. My turf wasn't phased at all.

  • 5 of 5 stars  Impressed
By Samuel in Lincoln, NE on 08/24/2017

I decided to try Quinkill because I had a LOT of crabgrass and foxtail and a variety of other weeds that were resistant to other chemicals. I purchase the home recently and the lawn is in poor condition from lack of proper care. Now to the important part of this review: I did not do a sufficient job of watching the forecast and applied approx 1/2 qt. of Quinkill at a rate of 1.5 oz per gallon with surfactant for spot spraying. Approx 12 hours later we had a heavy thunderstorm with 1.5 inches of rain and heavy wind. Approx 48 hours after application I was pleased to see the product had great results despite the rain.

  • 5 of 5 stars  Go on a Crabgrass Crusade!!
By Dvs in Charles Town, WV on 08/13/2017

Been trying stuff from local HD with tepid results. Ordered this stuff and followed directions exactly. Sprayed my entire lawn. 4-5 days later every crabgrass plant was brown and crispy. "Real" grass was unharmed. A good way to find any lingering crabgrass is to go out early on a morning that the grass is wet either with a heavy dew or after a night's rainfall. The water stands on the crabgrass, making it stand out almost flourescently against real grass. I found 1 little patch with 4 plants that I probably missed while spraying. If you want to go on a crusade to kill every crabgrass plant in your yard, I highly recommend this product! Just read and follow the instructions and you will be the victor in your war against this insidious weed.

By Russ in Lexington, SC on 08/12/2017

Putting out crabgrass preventer out in Feb here in South Carolina never seemed to stop the crabgrass in my yard. I'd had enough. Sprayed out the Quinkill as recommended. It annihilated the crabgrass to nothing within 2 weeks. It stunned my Bermudagrass a bit turning it a light green.

QHow much QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer do you mix with a gallon of water?

AThe label states to use 1.45 oz QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer per 1000 square feet. You also must know that when using an herbicide such as QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 1.45 oz per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with WATER ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 1.45 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated.

QIs QuinKill Max safe for southern lawns? specifically st augustine grass?

AQuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer cannot be used on St Augustine grass, Bahiagrass, carpetgrass or dichondra. Unfortunately there really isn't a post-emergent crabgrass killer that can be used on St Augustine grasses available unless you are willing to go to a higher price point. We do carry Echelon 4SC and it is labeled for use on St Augustine. Still the product label does warn "Application of Echelon 4SC to St. Augustinegrass may cause temporary discoloration to exposed leaf surfaces of St. Augustinegrass. Treated turfgrass will
recover with new growth and discolored leaf tissue will be removed with mowing."

QHow soon can I apply a second dose of QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer to the crabgrass that appears to not be affected by the first dose?
I applied QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer along with Speedzone and a sticky agent. Most weeds are dead or dying, but some didn't seem to be affected. It was morning with dew on the grass, so I feel I need to reapply in the evening. How soon can I do that? Is spot treatment OK in that case? Having lawn plugged and seeded in a couple of weeks, so am in a hurry.

A

QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer†can be reapplied 2-3 weeks after first treatment. It is normal not to see a burn down just yet. This can tak at least 2 weeks to occur.

A

QWhat additive can I add to the QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer?
I have QuinKill Max and was looking to add Speedzone, but I'm in NJ and saw it's not permitted, is there another solution?

A

We do offer Trimec 992 that can be used for selective post control of†many†broadleaf weeds like SpeedZone. Always perform a tank mix test first and try in an inconspicuous area prior to full lawn application. Please refer to the product label for each herbicide that you will apply to your lawn for complete mixing and applications.

QHow many ounces do I use per gallon to spot treat my crab grass with QuinKill?
I don't want to know how much per 1000 square feet. I want to know for spot treating purposes. I've been using 1.5 oz per gallon, results non existent. Should this product kill dandelions?

A

As with most herbicides like QuinKill Max†the exact volume of water is not very important, you just need to be sure you are getting the correct amount of product on a specific area.† Generally speaking 1 gallon covers 1000 sqft, so you can apply 1.45 fluid ounces in 1 gallon for spot treating. QuinKill can kill common dandelions but does state on the†label†Tank mix partner or sequential application required.††Did you use a methylated seed oil surfactant which is required for use with this product? †If you did not use a MSO with the product that could be the reason for not having success. †Also the active ingredient in QuinKill is a slow kill can take up to 6 weeks to kill sprayed weeds when used as directed.†

For best results, DO NOT water or irrigate for 24 hours after application. If rainfall does not occur in 2 to 7 days after application, irrigation of at least 1/2 inch is desirable.†
