Kills poa annua in centipede
By Rich on 02/22/2015
After fighting poa annua for the last few years it is good to find something that works. It seems expensive for such a small amount of product, but the amount used per gallon of water is so small it is cost effective. Works much better than the atrazine I used before. Great product and produced results in only 2 weeks.

Quackgrass Dead On Arrival!
By Ken on 05/26/2016
Used properly per instruction, quack grass started turning yellow on 3rd day, bright yellow by the 7 day, and wilting over 2 weeks out. Must use the Dyne Amic with this product. See my other review for (Drive) product. Newly planted Princess 77 lawn. Killed all the Quackgrass, the Bermuda kept smiling!

Awesome
By Jeff on 07/07/2015
I had a bad infestation on nutsedge and we were getting a lot of rain everyday decided to mix it up and give it a shot in front of the rain one day only three hours before receiving half an inch of rain but within 7 days the sedge is already 90% dead. Well worth the money

Green Kyllinga in Florida St Augustine grass
By Homeowner on 04/30/2014
I applied Certainty to my St Augustine lawn in April. The St Augustine did not show any signs of stress. Kyllinga did not shrivel up and die the next day, but it did stop coming up in my lawn. I'm very satisfied. The rest of the 1.25 oz bottle should last me for years to come so it is cost effective in the long run.

Worked! Killed Quack and Crab Grass Not Kentucky Bluegrass
By Tracy on 06/18/2020
I was worried about using something this expensive and not knowing what I was doing. We also have Kentucky blue grass and I did not see that it was one of the approved grasses that it would not hurt. I used 5 small scoops for every two gallons and also used Surfactant and blue dye to make sure it was evenly sprayed. The First week or two I thought I had wasted my money. Nothing looked like it was going to die, and it stunted the growth of my whole lawn to the point that we only had to mow it after two weeks instead of one. I was worried it was going to kill my whole lawn. After about a month it noticed that the quack and crab grass was turning brown. It has now been a couple months and my normal grass is doing fine and I have a bunch of dead areas where all the quake/crab were really thick and I am putting down some extra seed to get something growing there. Hope this helps.

Very Effective
By Michael on 05/15/2020
This is impressive. I have tried using products sold at local retailers to kill Poa Annua, and have had poor results. I balked at this at first, due to price. After buying, I applied according to the instructions, and it treated about 3000 sq. feet (6 gallons) with just three scoops. I saw results after 4 to 6 days, and after two to three weeks all the poa was totally destroyed. It had no negative effect on actively growing Bermuda. The small quantity should last me at least two or more seasons, due to the potency. This stuff works. Just follow the instructions, and be sure to use a surficant.

The best results ever!
By Dennis on 08/08/2015
This stuff really works. Results are slow, 2-3 weeks, but follow directions, use a good quality surfactant, and watch weeds disappear. Even with the blistering heat from this summer, no turf damage, no discoloration- except for the dying weeds, both sedge/grasses and broadleaf! In my centipede lawn, the best results I've ever achieved.

Good but a bit slow
By Charles on 08/30/2016
Another product, like Metsulfuron, that I use to remove cool season grasses from Bermuda, but which also works on sedges, and is similarly slow like Metsulfuron. Wait a week or two in spring and the poa will die off. Together with AmTide in the same bottle with surfactant, you can eradicate fescue and poa. When mixed with MSMA later in summer, it will really knock out dallisgrass, though you could just get rid of dallis with only MSMA. It comes with a little measuring spoon in the box to help you get the right amount per gallon of water.

Using Certainty

Nutsedge infestation
By Reuben on 07/24/2020
After spending hundreds of dollars in the last three years with a professional weed control company trying to control Nutsedge that has taken over my lawn I finally searched online to see if I could find an herbicide that was legal in California. Certainty Herbicide from DOMYOWN is listed as an effective herbicide for several types of Nutsedge so I purchased it together with an additive recommended to mix with Certainty. I applied this mixture to one/half my lawn and did not water my lawn for two days and four days before cutting my lawn. Two days after cutting my lawn the one/half my lawn that was not treated was again showing the rapid growth of Nutsedge but the one/half treated had NO Nutsedge. This is a most positive result and better than three years of multiple applications each summer attempting to control Nutsedge. Time will tell, but at this point I am excited to think I may not continue to be harassed by a weed that otherwise I felt I had no control.

Certainty Herbicide
By Jason on 03/23/2018
Went down fine, I used some blue dye from tractor supply and 80/20 surfactant I also got there. I used a 4 gallon back pack sprayer which per the directions of it was basically 2 large scoops per gallon. So 8 scoops plus the dye plus the recommended amount of surfactant. It was quite a bit of mixing. I did that 5x and that covered my entire Bermuda yard. I went heavy because I had a pretty substantial amount of Johnstonville blue grass infesting my sod. It's too early to tell, because it's only been down a week. But I can tell the blue grass doesn't look lush and green like it did. I'm guessing it's working. The process is long. 4,000 sq feet per backpack sprayer was tiedious. I was meticulous about covering the entire yard. So block out about 1-2 hours if your using my method. I hope the results end up being worth it.

Very Effective on Nutsedge

Didn't do anything to Quackgrass
By Sharon on 11/01/2021
I have a couple patches of quackgrass and this was recommended on multiple websites. From reviews, the quackgrass should have started browning in a week. It has not, in fact it appears to be flourishing. I am going to give the second treatment in a few weeks. Maybe I will see something after that.
Expert response:
You may notice signs of the quackgrass dying (discoloration-yellowing or browning) within 2-3 weeks after you have applied Certainty but it is normal not to see anything for at least a month. Per the product label, you can make an additional application 4 or more weeks after the initial application as needed. Best results are obtained when target weeds are actively growing & not disturbed by mowing for at least 2 days before and 2 days after application. Warm, moist conditions following application will accelerate activity; cold, dry conditions will delay activity. Drought stressed weeds are less susceptible.

Certainty Herbicide
By Al on 05/09/2017
Used as directed for nut sedges, first attempt very poor results. After three weeks, will reapply and will post update. The very thick nut sedge I had to use Round Up because it has taken over that area and was afraid to wait anymore for Certainty to work. Three stars and pending...

POA's greatest enemy?
By Philip on 03/12/2022
Initial results on eliminating POA in my dormant Bermuda have been impressive. Don't forget the wetting agent. Two weeks to see yellowing, however, even with the warmth and rain, germinated POA has been stunted significantly. Less seeding as well. Applied Valentine's Day weekend. Will check with DoMyOwn to see if a diluted second application will stunt already emerging Bermuda growth.

My Certainty
By Ronald on 07/24/2020
After talking to Customer Service they recommended I use Certainty for control of Dallisgrass. Ordering was easy. Shipping went well. The weather in San Antonio, Texas has been in the high 90's and over 100F for over 3 weeks without rain. Thus i have not used.

Great product
By Pete on 07/03/2020
Very effective on Johnson grass. I'm having to learn the difference between Johnson grass, crabgrass and goose grass. They all three look similar. Certainty does great on Johnson grass but takes a couple of weeks. Doesn't do anything on crabgrass or goose grass. At least next year I'll have Johnson grass under control.

Powerful herbicide that kills poa trivialis
By John on 05/01/2020
I thought that this product was overpriced until I read the directions and realized how little is required per gallon. After application, I waited 2 weeks and the poa trivialis is definitely dying. I will make a second application today and use a pre-emergent next spring to hopefully contain this monster.

Johnson grass
By Brandon on 10/02/2020
I had a ton of johnson grass coming up through sod that was installed 2 months prior. The johnson grass was in the yard that wasn't killed prior,I was too impatient. Anyways this product completely got rid of it. I would highly recommend this product. Surprisingly the grass actually did really well no stress appeared. It also did very well on the nut grass

Kills nutsedge/cool season grasses
By Brandon on 11/14/2022
Bought this to take care of some of the cool season grasses invading my bermuda lawn along with a ton of yellow nutsedge. I did two applications mid summer at the minimum rate (probably could've done one at high rate) and after the second, the rye grass, fescue and yellow nutsedge were immediately fried. Mission complete. Highly recommend. May need two applications fyi.
