    Knocks 'em dead

    By Larry on 05/14/2022

I bought this for the strict purpose of killing Poa Annua. It did just that! One application took almost three weeks, but it got the job done. VERY satisfied

    Nutsedge destroyer!

    By Mark on 07/20/2022

I have only used this once on a large patch of nutsedge in my lawn, in my neighbor's flower bed, and in another neighbor's lawn all in the same day. It has been 6 weeks now and we are completely nutsedge free. Me and my neighbors are so pleased. It was a little slow to show it was working, but don't let that fool you! The kill rate with this stuff was 100% with just one application. I'm shocked that 6 weeks later there is still zero nutsedge in my lawn. I mean one of it came back. I was expecting at least some nutsedge to pop up that hadn't been sprayed but, no there is nothing. I don't have enough good things to say about this product. It simply works. Location: Austin TX Grass type: Bermuda.

    Still waiting to see...

    By Rhoda on 03/24/2023

I bought Certainty to take care of the poa annua that was trying to take over my yard. I have bermuda grass and after testing the soil temperature to make sure the bermuda was still dormant, I sprayed my lawn and 5 feet into my neighbor's yard. Now it's wait and see since getting rid of poa annua is not an overnight process. I just want to prevent it from going to seed.

    Not quite what I expected

    By Rob on 07/22/2023

First, I want to say that I really like dealing with DoMyOwn, but this product has been a letdown. I was in a chat about Poa in my lawn, and bought a pre emergent for use this fall. I do admit that the person I was chatting with said that using pre emergent was The Best way to deal with it. I asked about anything else that could be done, and they said there is this product call Certainty that can be used Post Emergent, so I bought some. It's about $129 for 1 1/2 ounces of powder. I mixed it according to directions and sprayed it on a couple test patches. Not much happened with the first application for about 10 days, so I reapplied. I think I would have been better off with Roundup. It totally kills Poa, but no one can tell me if I can now reseed these areas or if they are barren for six months. So I have horrible dead patches in the lawn, still have 95% of the Certainty left, and am left wondering if anyone should ever use this on a residential lawn......it's a big waste of money. Use Pre Emergent in the fall!

    Expert Response  Expert response:
You may notice signs of the poa dying (discoloration-yellowing or browning) within 2-3 weeks after you have applied Certainty but it is normal not to see anything for at least a month. Per the product label, you can make an additional application 4 or more weeks after the initial application as needed. According to the product label, you should wait at least 3 weeks before re-seeding or over-seeding after application.

    Excellent Herbicide/Surfactant

    By Steve on 08/12/2023

Certainty helped clear up a massive infestation of Yellow Sedge in my Bermudagrass. The surfactant obviously helped with penetration. However, I didn't find the blue indicator dye particularly useful in my residential application because I couldn't see it (medium concentration) and it makes a mess.

    Johnson grass

    By Randy on 10/27/2023

I used certainty on what I would call Johnson grass broad leaf grass that growers a stem of seeds.the stuff was expensive so I put 3 little scoops about half a teaspoon in 2 gallon of water in a back pack sprayer about 3 weeks ago in Oct. Spayed where ever I saw it heavy in some areasnd had just enough to cover all the areas, all dead! I'll have to spray again next year when I see before it seeds, but I have several years of product left.sprayed it on a burmuda grass called celebration no damage.

    Poa annual

    By Jason on 03/22/2024

So far I am pleased with the product. It is the only thing I found to kill my poa annual in my yard. Nothing worked in the big box stores. It takes a couple of weeks to work so don’t expect immediate results.

    Disappointed

    By Steve on 08/06/2024

I live in FL and have all the typical southern weeds. I applied Certainty twice. It rained pretty good after the initial application so I waited a week and reapplied. I haven't seen 1 weed die but it did however stunt the growth on my bahia yard everywhere I sprayed the product. Now it seems I have more weeds than before. I wish I could get my money back as it's quite expensive.

    Expert Response  Expert response:
We apologize results were not as expected, it sounds like there was just not enough time allowed following the application to see results. You may notice signs of the weeds (discoloration-yellowing or browning) within 2-3 weeks after you have applied Certainty but it is normal not to see anything for at least a month. Per the product label, you can make an additional application 4 or more weeks after the initial application as needed but should not apply after only 1 week.
