    Q
Can you use baby powder in the ClimbUp Insect Interceptor when it needs to be reapplied?
    A
Yes, as long as it is talc baby powder.  You should not use corn starch baby powder inside the Climb Up Interceptor because it will not work.

    Q
How do I dispose of bed bugs that I catch in the Climb-Up Insect Interceptor?
I have recently purchased the ClimbUp Insect Interceptor approximately 2 months ago and have found a bed bug in the outer receptor. Now how do I dispose of it?

You can either treat the bug directly with a pest control product, or even easier is to flush it down the toilet!

    Q
I don't understand how ClimbUp Insect Interceptor works? What makes the bugs go in the cups?
    A
The Climb Up Interceptor is simply a pitfall trap. As bedbugs try to climb up or down furniture legs they will fall into the trap and will not be able to get out.

    Q
How high is the dish, and what is the outside diameter - also for XL
The legs on my sofa are very short - I'm concerned that they are too shallow for the interceptor. Comment: All dimensions should be listed with the product information, not just the interior diameter.
    A
The Climb Up Interceptor at its highest point is about 1 inch tall and the outer ring of is about 6 inches in diameter. The Climb Up XL is about 8.5 inches x 10 inches across on the outer ring and almost 2 inches high at the highest point.

    Q
What does the powder in the ClimbUp Insect interceptor consist of and will it hurt my dog?
    A

The powder in the ClimbUp Insect Interceptor is talcum powder and will not harm dogs. The powder is there to make the sides slippery  so that the bedbugs cannot climb out of the trap.

    Q
On carpeting, I understand these ClimbUp Insect Interceptors need to be reinforced on the bottom or bed posts or furniture posts. Can they crack them when used?
    A

Yes, you should place a 3" rigid disc underneath the ClimbUp Insect Interceptor as indicated on our website to prevent cracking of the device.

    Precautionary Statement:

Furniture legs may break through the inner well when padded carpeting is present.
If carpeting is present in your home, the underside of the inner well may not have enough support to prevent it from breaking.  If the inner well becomes cracked or broken, the broken device should be washed and discarded and replaced with a new ClimbUp device. Cracking can be prevented over padded carpet by reinforcing with a 3” diameter rigid disk under the device, for example a 3” steel dock washer.

    Q
Will my bed legs fit? How wide is the opening for the bed leg?
    A
The center well in the original ClimbUp Insect Interceptor where the foot of your bed post would sit is 4 1/2 inches across in diameter. If the original Climb Up Interceptor is too small for your needs we also have the new Climb-up Insect Interceptor XL. The XL Interceptor has a center well that is 5 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches across.

    Q
The legs on my bed are square 3.4" X 3.4". Will the round ones work or do I need the XL?
    A
The normal climbup interceptors are 4.5 inches across in the center of the trap.  This should be no problem to fit a 3.4 inch square bed post into the normal interceptor.

  • Asked by Mary from Clinton

    Q
If you spray bed bug spray in the interceptor to kill them do you need to replace the baby powder?
    A

Per the manufacturer's recommendation, "A small amount of insecticide dust may be placed in the wells to kill insect trapped in the ClimbUp." Only an approved insectide dust such as Cimexa Dust is able to be used in the trap. These traps are not intended to be used for sole treatment of bed bugs but to incorporate as part of a treatmetn program. Please take a moment to review our How to Treat for Bed Bug Guide.

It is recommended for best results to spray a product labeled for bed bug control along the cracks and crevices along baseboards, windows, door frames, bed frames, and tufts and folds in the room. Once that product has dried, you can apply the insecticide dust with a bellow hand duster to get further into the cracks and crevices.

    Q
How will the ClimbUp Insect Interceptor work with wheels on my bed frame?
    A

The ClimbUp Insect Interceptor will still work around the wheels as long as they fit inside the 4 1/2 inch diameter. If you have thick carpeting or a very heavy bed frame, then you should use a metal washer under the ClimbUp so that the weight of the bed does not cause the plastic to crack. If the wheels will not fit the ClimbUp, then you may want to consider the BB Stop Bed Bug Pitfall Trap.

  • Asked by Lucy from Ok

    Q
Will the use of ClimbUp Insect Interceptors cause the bugs to spread &/or be active during day in search of a meal?
    A

The ClimbUp Insect Interceptors will not cause bed bugs to be more active or spread.  Bed bugs will travel in search of a blood meal and can be intercepted and trapped in the Climb-up Interceptor as they attempt to gain access to the beds or other furniture that have the interceptor devices installed only.

  • Asked by Susan from Spokane, Wa

    Q
How can I use the ClimbUp Insect Interceptor with a cot?
I sleep on a twin size cot which does not have actual legs but rather the curved bar at the head and foot of the cot. In the center of the cot there are four legs that have wheels. How can i utilize the climb up receptors with this situation?
    A

ClimbUp Insect Interceptor are only designed to be used with furniture with legs.  You could use on the center legs only but the bar "leg" would provide an area for them to crawl up and would not be protected.
