    Q
The Crabgrass Control Plus 0-0-7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide label says to apply between 4-9 pounds per 1000 sq. ft. How can I know where I should fall within that range?
    A

The Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide rate will depend on the amount of nitrogen you need to apply per application per year.

We recommend using a soil analysis test kit or taking a sample of your soil to your local cooperative extension office so your soil can be analyzed to determine what nutrients your soil is lacking. The healthiest, hardiest lawns are fertilized 2-4 times per year, fall, summer, early spring and late spring.

    Q
Do you know the proper setting for a Scotts drop spreader when applying the Prodiamine 0.37% product?
    A

Unfortunately, we do not have the spreader settings for the Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide with the Scott’s Drop Spreader and the manufacturer does not list that spreader on their bag. Due to the thousands of granules on the market and just as many different types of spreaders, you will want to calibrate your spreader to the product you are using and its application rates. You can see a short video on how to accomplish this below.

    Q
Can Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide be applied to St.Augustine grass?
Looking for good crab grass pre and post emergent. For St Augustine grass in Florida. It never really dies off in the winter, but spreads like crazy in summer. Can I put a pre and post emergent down within weeks of each other?
    A

Yes, Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide can be used on St. Augustine lawns. There is no time restriction after applying this product for you to wait to apply a postemergent.  You would want to apply a post whenever target weeds are actively growing and healthy.

    Q
Will Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide help control grassburs and is this safe for St. Augustine?
    A

    A

Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide already contains fertilizer therefore we would suggest using a Soil Test Kit to test the nutrients in your soil or taking soil samples to your County Extension Office for the Master Gardener to determine what nutrients your soil is lacking.

    Q
What is the Scotts Speedy Green Rotary Spreader setting to apply 6lbs per 1000 sq ft of Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide?
    A

If the spreader model you have is not listed on the product label of the herbicide being applied, then you will want to calibrate the spreader to the product you are using and the recommended application rates. Unfortunately due to the many different model spreaders on the market and application rates, we are not able to know or adivse on every possible combination.

Please view our How to Calibrate Your Spreader Video for a demonstration on determining your spreader settings.

    Q
What is the setting on a Agri-Fab Push Spreader to apply Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide?
    A

Unfortunately, the label for Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide does not list your specific spreader. Since there are so many products and so many spreaders on the market, there is not one master list to include rates for all combinations.

We have a video here to help you calibrate your spreader before treating the entire area.

    Q
After applying the Crabgrass Control, should I water my lawn, or keep it dry for a certain amount of time?
Can I apply in temperatures over 90 degrees?
    A

Since the product label for Crabgrass Control Plus 0-0-7 with Prodiamine does not give a specific time frame for watering, we would recommend watering immediately after application for best results. Typically this is the case with any granule fertilizer, regardless if it contains an herbicide.

    Q
Is this ok to use now for centipede? Is it a fertilizer also?
    A

Crabgrass Control Plus 0-0-7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Pre-Emergent Herbicide is a quality turf fertilizer that provides selective pre-emergent control of grassy and broadleaf weeds in established lawns, perennials, wildflower turf, ornamental turf, and landscape ornamentals.  This granular pre-emergent plus turf fertilizer is formulated with 100% of potash derived from muriate of potash. It has a uniform and physical blend to minimize separation and maximize uniformity of spread. Comes in a 50 lb bag that covers approximately 12,500 sq. ft. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions. For the best time on when to apply this product in your specific region, we would recommend reaching out to your Master Gardener at your local cooperative extension as they will have the best information for your area.

    Q
    Too Much Rain?
After application, how much rain would be "too much" rain? How much rain would it take to actually reduce effectiveness?
    A
The product label of Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide states, "Most effective weed control will be obtained when this product is activated by at least 0.5 inch of rainfall or irrigation, or with shallow (1 to 2 inches) incorporation, prior to weed seed germination and within 14 days after application." The label does not specific what amount would be considered too much, however, if you are expecting consecutive days of heavy rainfall, we would suggest waiting until this has passed.

    Q
    Using multiple pre-emergents
Trying to control a number of issues with my bermudagrass. Crabgrass, spurge, dandelions and burnweed are the biggest issues. Live in upstate South Carolina. Considering applying Dimension, Gallery and Prodiamine over the course of 4-5 weeks in fall and again in spring to control the weeds. Am I overdoing it?
    A
Keep in mind that pre-emergent herbicides, including Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide, work to prevent a broad spectrum of weeds.  There would be no need to apply all of those products at the same time because they all work to prevent many of the same weeds.

  • Asked by Julie from Midland, Tx
    09/18/2023
    Q
I live in Midland, TX and I use a pre-emergent I get at the coop in Feb and Nov (sometimes more often).
Can I apply the crabgrass control plus 0-0-7 in place of the pre-emergent? I have 2 acres to do.
    A

Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide is not able to ship to Texas.

We would recommend Pennington Crabgrass Control Plus with .37 Prodiamine Pre-Emergent Herbicide 0-0-7 Turf Fertilizer for spring pre emergent applications to prevent crabgrass from germinating as it is the exact same product as the Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7.

Please review the Pennington Crabgrass Control Prodiamine 0-0-7 product label for more information.

  • Asked by Josh from South Carolina
    02/04/2024
    Q
Will Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 have any affect on my sunflowers?
I am wanting to use this to control crabgrass in my sunflower field. I try to stay away from RoundUp because of some neighboring properties, but crabgrass nearly suffocated my sunflowers out last year. Just want to make sure this won’t hurt my sunflowers if I plant them at least a month after I use this pre emergent.
    A

Crabgrass Control Plus 0 - 0 - 7 with 0.37% Prodiamine Herbicide is not labeled to be used around sunflowers so we cannot recommend doing so.  We do carry the pre-emergent Prowl H2O which is labeled for use around them and can prevent crabgrass but we do not have a granule with fertilizer.
