  • Asked by Steve from Or
    09/21/2016
    Q
Why are there weeds that keep emerging through the middle of dead weeds after 3 applications of Crossbow?
    Why is this not working?
    A

Crossbow Herbcide is a post-emergent herbcide and will only kill the weeds that are actively growing at the time of application. If there are weeds under the soil that have not germinated yet, those weeds will not be affected by Crossbow. To treat weeds that are in the soil that have not germinated, you would need to use a pre-emergent in the spring/late fall before the soil temps reach 55 degrees. Another option is to continue to treat with Crossbow as the weeds emerge.

    Q
Can I use Crossbow Herbicide for Cottonwood stump/root regrowth?
The tree was cut down a month ago, and I now have saplings everywhere, including my crawlspace... The stump is approx 2ft across and sprouting nicely.... I have Crossbow 2-4D and Roundup supper concentrate....
    A
We would recommend doing a paint treatment directly to freshly cut stumps with the undiluted product for best results. Multiple applications may be needed.

  • Asked by Curtis from Sandy Hook, Ky
    08/01/2016
    Q
    Does Crossbow kill grasses?
    A

Crossbow is not supposed to harm established grasses and should pose no threat according to the manufacturer.  This being said, we always recommend treating a small area first to test the results.  As long as your grass is not stressed by drought and it is healthy the grass will not be harmed.

  • Asked by Sid from Hannibal, Mo
    03/07/2017
    Q
Will Crossbow work on cattails? Will it harm fish?
    A

Crossbow should NOT be applied to water areas to treat cattails as it is extremely toxic to fish and not labeled for that usage. We do carry Rodeo Herbicide is a very popular glyphosphate herbicide for the control of aquatic weeds and plants including mature cattails.

  • Asked by Joe from Normal Ill
    03/17/2018
    Q
Does crossbow kill hedge tree saplings less than 10 ft tall.?
    A

Crossbow Herbicide is a vegetation management product which means it is not very selective, it will kill almost anything.  Although it will not harm a tree when used at recommended levels if it gets on the base of the tree, it will harm a tree if you spray Crossbow on the foliage. The required spray volume will increase substantially if the brush exceeds 5 feet in height. Brush over 8 feet tall is difficult to treat efficiently. Large brush or trees may be controlled better by basal or mechanical methods.

  • Asked by Bob from Yamhill, Or
    03/24/2019
    Q
Will spraying Crossbow Herbicide onto the leaves of holly plants (and small holly bushes) adequately kill them?
    A

Crossbow Herbicide could possibly harm holly but it is not labeled for this plant so we cannot recommend it for controlling/killing it.  Holly shrubs would need to be treated like trees, in which case you would cut the shrubs down to stumps and then treat the fresh cuts. Crossbow Herbicide is labeled for the control of most kinds of unwanted trees. On page 5 of the label you can find directions on how to use for conventional basal bark and stump applications.

    Q
Will Crossbow kill moss in yard or on asphalt?
    A

Crossbow Herbicide will not control moss on any surface.  For moss in the yard you could use Lilly Miller Moss Out for Lawns.  For the asphalt you would use Lilly Miller Moss Out Heavy Duty Cleaner.  Unfortunately there is not one product that could control moss in both areas.
