    Q
The neighbor sprayed Crossbow diluted in their yard and half our birch is yellow and leaves limp, what to do?
The tree is near the back fence and they sprayed a large area (per the labels instructions they say) 2 foot high x 15 ft weeded overgrowth and I fear it was absorbed by the root base. We gave it a good bath and washed down the root base soil area for a while. Help!!! We love our only 30 ft river birch tree!
    A
Crossbow is a vegetation management product which means it is not very selective, it will kill almost anything.  Although it will not harm a tree when used at recommended levels if it gets on the base of the tree, it will harm a tree if you spray Crossbow on the foliage.  If the tree itself was not sprayed directly there could be another cause for the issue.  It would be best to speak with a local arborist or horticulturalist who is more familiar with any tree issues in your area.

  • Asked by Matt from Lawrenceburg, tennesse
    06/29/2015
    Q
How long does Crossbow need to be on the plant to be an effective herbicide?
    A
Crossbow Herbicide is rainfast ater two hours. The amount of time it takes for the product to kill the plants that have been sprayed depend on the plant itself. Generally, it could take between 7-14 days for plants to wilt or die. A second application may be needed depending on the plant. Please check the label for specific wait times for additional applications.

  • Asked by Rebecca from Asheville, N.c. 28805
    06/22/2015
    Q
Could I use a brush to put crossbow on leaf so as not to touch neighboring plants. does it go to root ?
    A
Crossbow Herbicide is intended to be used with a pressurized sprayer and can be brushed on for stump treatments. If you are only going to be using this for a few plants, it may be better served for you to hand weed the area versus using a non-selective herbicide. It will get to the roots of your plants.

  • Asked by Ray from Jackson, Tn

    Q
What about using Crossbow on bermuda grass?
    A
Crossbow Herbicide  is not supposed to harm established grasses and should pose no threat on your Bermuda grass according to the manufacturer.  This being said, we always recommend treating a small area first to test the results.  As long as your grass is not stressed by drought and it is healthy the grass will not be harmed

    Q
Can I use Crossbow Herbicide for Cottonwood stump/root regrowth?
The tree was cut down a month ago, and I now have saplings everywhere, including my crawlspace... The stump is approx 2ft across and sprouting nicely.... I have Crossbow 2-4D and Roundup supper concentrate....
    A
We would recommend doing a paint treatment directly to freshly cut stumps with the undiluted product for best results. Multiple applications may be needed.

  • Asked by Ashley from Hoquiam, Washington
    05/30/2015
    Q
After applying Crossbow on the leads actively growing, when can I cut them down?
Couple days? 3 weeks? If longer the better, then to how long? What if they're not active? Verses active?
    A
If you are planning on cutting down the target plants, it would be best to trim and then to apply Crossbow to the fresh cuts. This will help with faster absorption and kill of the target plants. Actively growing plants will metabolize herbicides much more quickly; applying to dormant plants will provide minimal results.

    Q
I have honeysuckle I want to get rid of but I have roses that are 5 feet away. Will Crossbow kill the roses?
    A
If Crossbow gets on the roses or within the drip line of the rose bushes it could potentially casue damage. It is important to make sure there is no wind when you are applying the Crossbow to insure that it does not drift onto the roses, and also to make sure that you do not over-spray, because that could allow runoff to flow to the area where the roses are.

  • Asked by Kay from West Plains Mo

    Q
How long should I wait to plant flowers after using Crossbow Herbicide?
We cut down over grown 20 year old brush and weeds a week ago. We sprayed the entire area with crossbow (not even thinking about our new plants) and now I'm to afraid to plant my new plants and flower. To much money to waste on them just to die. :( what's the recommended time to wait before planting new plants and flowers?!
    A
Do not reseed treated areas for a minimum of 3 weeks following an application of Crossbow Herbicide. However, keep in mind that excessive amounts of this herbicide in the soil could inhibit seed germination and plant growth.
