    Q
Can you use Cutrine Plus Algaecide in the winter on your pond?
    A

According to the manufacturer, Cutrine Plus Algaecide could potentially be applied in the colder months, however, it is most effective when the water temperature is at least 60 degrees. Please keep in mind that temperature is referencing the water temperature and not the actual outside temp. The product label also states that in regions where ponds freeze in winter, treatment should be done 6 to 8 weeks before expected freeze time to prevent masses of decaying algae under an ice cover.

    Q
Can you mix Cutrine Plus with Weedtrine-d?
    A

Per the Weedtrine-D product label: Where algae are present along with the submersed weeds, pre-treatment with CUTRINE-PLUS® Algaecide is advised for optimum results. Since it advises to pre-treat with the Cutrine Plus we would recommend doing it in seperate applications and give sufficient time for the Cutrine to work.

  • Asked by Mike from Bristow, Oklahoma
    05/31/2018
    Q
Can I just dump the Cutrine Plus Algeacide in the pond?
Will it spread out on its own?
    A

How Cutrine Plus Algaecide needs to be applied will depend somewhat on the size water you are treating and how much (if any) water flow there is in the water. Per the product label: For effective control, proper chemical concentration must be maintained for a minimum of three hours contact time. For most applications you will need to dilute the Cutrin Plus with enough water to ensure equal distribution with the equipment used. Typical dilution range is 9:1 with a backpack-type sprayer or up to 50:1 when using water pump equipment or large tank sprayers. Please read the complete product label for all application directions and precautions.

    Q
For bottom growing algae can I just pour diluted Cutrine Plus Algaecide along the edges of the pond?

  • Asked by Bret from Thomasville, Ga
    08/06/2019
    Q
Will Cutrine Plus Algaecide kill fish?
    A

If Cutrine Plus Algaecide is used in the correct areas and according to the product label it will not kill fish. The product label states not to use this product in waters containing Koi and Hybrid Goldfish and it is not intended for use in small volume, garden pond systems. Treatment of aquatic weeds and algae can result in oxygen loss from decomposition of dead algae and weeds. This oxygen loss can cause fish and invertebrate suffocation. To minimize hazard, do not treat more than ½ of the water body to avoid depletion of oxygen due to decaying vegetation. Wait at least 10 to 14 days between treatments.

  • Asked by Sylvia from Moreland, Georgia
    07/23/2021
    Q
Can Cutrine Plus be used in 500 gal ponds without harm to fish and plants? If so how much to use.
Water is clear but algae grows on bottom gravel and rock. Green water tint about every 3 days so I'm doing about a 50% water change weekly. Fish and plants are present. Water fall and 4 aquascape aerators in pond. 500 + gallon pond. Can Cutrine Plus be used in my pond?
    A

Cutrine Plus Algaecide can be used in ponds and lakes to help control different types of algae, except if you have trout, koi fish and hybrid goldfish, Cutrine Plus Algaecide is toxic to these types of fish. We recommend to treat 1/2 of your pond first and wait 14 days to treat the other 1/2 of the pond to avoid fish suffocation caused by oxygen depletion from decaying algae.
