    Q
My pond is 1/2 acre and averages approximately 6 feet deep. I have used Cutrine in the past with limited success. Should I continue or can you recommend another product?
    A

Cutrine Plus Algaecide is one of our most popular algaecides, effective against the most popular varieties of pond algae. Please be aware this and other algaecides with copper should not be used in water containing koi, trout, or goldfish, or in water that sheep or goats may drink. We would encourage you to be sure that you have correctly identified the algae or plant that you are treating to ensure you are using the best products.

    Q
Will Cutrine Plus Algaecide kill an entire sheet of algae that covers almost 2 acre pond?
It is like a big blanket about 3ft underwater but about 4ft off the pond bed . I used your product in about the middle of last summer to try and kill this stuff around the bank so it would not cover the whole pond atleast i thought it wouldnt but after spraying it with your product it grew faster and thicker so by end off summer the whole pond was covered and still is . Except the whole blanket is sinking now as opposed to being on top of water . I hate to say it but its like your product accelerated the groth of it . I have pics if u need them .
    A

Whether Cutrine Plus Algaecide will work best for your needs will depend on the specific type of algae as well as the severity of the issue. Anytime you are treating heavy growth, it will be more difficult to achieve sufficient control. You should also expect multiple applicaitons for heavy infestations since you should never treat more than 1/3 - 1/2 of a pond at once.

For fast results on most algae, GreenClean Pro is a contact algaecide that destorys algae almost immediately. Keep in mind that many factors contribute to algae growth, including water temperature, excessive nutrients in the water (such as fertilizer runoff), and lots of sunlight. We also recommend using a pond cleaner such as Crystal Blue Natural Pond Cleaner to help reduce dead plant matter, excessive nutrients, and other contributing factors. Many folks also use a pond dye to reduce sunlight deeper in the ponds and to improve appearance.

  • Asked by Paco from Clarkston, Michigan

    Q
Should apply Cutrine Plus at once in my whole Pond (1/4 acre) or 2 applications
I have a 1/4 acre pond, and I do not know if I should apply Cutrine Plus Algicide in the whole pond at once with a backpack sprayer, or I should only do 1/2 pond one (week or day) and the other half one (week/day) after.
    A

You do not want to treat the entire pond with Cutrine Plus Algaecide all at once so that you do not harm the fish or other aquatic life. You will need to treat 1/2 of the pond and wait 2 weeks and do the second treatment. Please see the product label for complete application instructions.

    Q
I have a 2 gallon sprayer and would like to know how much Cutrine Plus I would mix with water to treat my pond that measures 3.5 acre feet.
    A

We apologize but we would need to know what type of algae you are treating for, how large the pond is, and what density/concentrate of algae you have in order to provide you with an accurate answer. You can also look at the charts on the Cutrine Plus Product Label to help determine coverage area.

  • Asked by Emily from Greenville

    Q
If the Cutrine Plus Algaecide is not safe for carp, depending on water hardness, how do I test water hardness?
    A

We do not see anything on the Cutrine Pus Algaecide label that says it is unsafe for carp or anything regarding water hardness. It does mention that trout could be harmed if the water is too soft or acidic. There are a few different ways to go about testing your water levels so you may want to just google a few options or videos to see what is easiest or best for you.
