    Q
How much Cutrine Plus Algaecide should I use in a 10 gallon sprayer and can this be tank mixed with another aquatic herbicide?
    A

The typical dilution range of water to Cutrine Plus Algaecide is 9:1 when using a backpack-type sprayer or up to 50:1 when using water pump equipment or large tank sprayers. The amount of product you will need will also depend on the type of algae you are trying to control, the density of growth and the size of the area that you need to treat.

According to the manufacturer, Cutrine Plus Algaecide should not be mixed with an herbicide and applied at the same time. It is recommended to wait two weeks between an application of Cutrine Plus and a herbicide. It is also recommended to treat the algae first.

Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.

  • Asked by Lisa from Brookfield

    Q
After making 2 applications of Cutrine Plus Algaecide at 10 day intervals and the blue algae is coming back again, why ?
    A

With Cutrine Plus Algaecide, it is recommended (per the product label) to do an “initial dose test” to determine the most effective concentration to eliminate the target species, unless the dosage rate is already know to provide the best results.

There are many treatment factors and considerations involved with using this product such as the water temperature (atleast 60 degrees), calm and sunny conditions, direct contact with all cells throughout the water column. If you are not seeing results after 48 hours, additional factors could be interrferring with the results.

We would suggest consulting with the manufacturer directly for troubleshooting and to discuss the best steps to treat algae using Cutrine Plus . Applied Bio Chemists can be reached at 800-558-5106 or by through their website

    Q
Can I use Cutrine Plus Algaecide in a .29 of a acre pond with 5 large koi fish?

Due to liability issues, we do not make any recommendations for ponds with koi or goldfish because of the sensitive nature of these fish. We recommend you contact the manufacturer or a koi expert for assistance.  We apologize we could not be helpful today.

  • Asked by James from Riverdale Ga
    02/20/2021
    Q
Will Cutrine Plus Algaecide kill an entire sheet of algae that covers almost 2 acre pond?
It is like a big blanket about 3ft underwater but about 4ft off the pond bed . I used your product in about the middle of last summer to try and kill this stuff around the bank so it would not cover the whole pond atleast i thought it wouldnt but after spraying it with your product it grew faster and thicker so by end off summer the whole pond was covered and still is . Except the whole blanket is sinking now as opposed to being on top of water . I hate to say it but its like your product accelerated the groth of it . I have pics if u need them .
    A

Whether Cutrine Plus Algaecide will work best for your needs will depend on the specific type of algae as well as the severity of the issue. Anytime you are treating heavy growth, it will be more difficult to achieve sufficient control. You should also expect multiple applicaitons for heavy infestations since you should never treat more than 1/3 - 1/2 of a pond at once.

For fast results on most algae, GreenClean Pro is a contact algaecide that destorys algae almost immediately. Keep in mind that many factors contribute to algae growth, including water temperature, excessive nutrients in the water (such as fertilizer runoff), and lots of sunlight. We also recommend using a pond cleaner such as Crystal Blue Natural Pond Cleaner to help reduce dead plant matter, excessive nutrients, and other contributing factors. Many folks also use a pond dye to reduce sunlight deeper in the ponds and to improve appearance.

  • Asked by Paco from Clarkston, Michigan
    03/13/2021
    Q
Should apply Cutrine Plus at once in my whole Pond (1/4 acre) or 2 applications
I have a 1/4 acre pond, and I do not know if I should apply Cutrine Plus Algicide in the whole pond at once with a backpack sprayer, or I should only do 1/2 pond one (week or day) and the other half one (week/day) after.
    A

You do not want to treat the entire pond with Cutrine Plus Algaecide all at once so that you do not harm the fish or other aquatic life. You will need to treat 1/2 of the pond and wait 2 weeks and do the second treatment. Please see the product label for complete application instructions.

    Q
My pond is 1/2 acre and averages approximately 6 feet deep. I have used Cutrine in the past with limited success. Should I continue or can you recommend another product?
    A

Cutrine Plus Algaecide is one of our most popular algaecides, effective against the most popular varieties of pond algae. Please be aware this and other algaecides with copper should not be used in water containing koi, trout, or goldfish, or in water that sheep or goats may drink. We would encourage you to be sure that you have correctly identified the algae or plant that you are treating to ensure you are using the best products.
