    Q
Does Cy-Kick Aerosol work to treat cigarette or drugstore beetles?
    How fast are the results?
    A

Yes, Cy Kick Aerosol is labeled to treat both cigarette and drugstore beetles. Apply into cracks and crevices where these pests may hibernate such as cabinets, pantries, baseboards, windows, etc. Cy Kick Aerosol offers fast knockdown and long lasting residual control of pantry pests. Depending on the level of infestation, you may reapply as a crack and crevice spray every 10 days.

Insecticides alone are rarely effective in treating pantry pests, we would suggest using an attractant to help capture the male beetles. InVite Multi-Insect Lure is a labeled for both cigarette and drugstore beetles and may be applied to a glueboard and placed in areas where grain products are stored. The InVite Insect Lure label states it will remain active for 60-90 days and is recommended to be placed every 30 feet.

The keys to managing an infestation of cigarette or drugstore beetles include good sanitation, early detection and locating and destroying infested materials.  Please see our How to Get Rid of Cigarette Beetles Article for suggestions on how to inspect for infested items. .

    Q
Will Cy-Kick control infestation of BookLice in bathroom?
I believe that our newly constructed house has moisture in between the drywall. We are seeing quite a few BookLice in the bathrooms and any place that is has moisture. Will this product help in eliminating them?
    A
The best way to control booklice is by lowering the humidity in the infested areas which in turn will help eliminate the mold and fungus these insects need to survive. Infested furniture and carpeting if any, should be thoroughly steam cleaned and vacuumed. You can spray your furniture with Sterifab to get rid of any lingering insects. Cracks and crevices around baseboards, door frames, window frames and other harborage areas can safely be treated with Cy-Kick Aerosol. You can also follow up with a dusting of Cimexa Dust to help eliminate these pests in carpet and in cracks and crevices around the home.

    Q
is this safe to put in new home construction when there is only frame?
My home is being constructed currently and it's in its frame phase where there is just lumber ? Can we directly put it or spray it all over lumber so no bugs get into interior walls and ceiling? I was thinking about buying this so no scropions can climb our walls and get into interior before they put up all the drywall for home construction. Please let me know. Thanks.
    A

For longevity purposes, we would recommend using an insecticide dust inside the wall voids before they enclose the wood frame. Using Cimexa Dust can last up to 10 years when left undisturbed. You can use this product as a dust or a liquid:

Liquid Application: This product can also be used as a spray. Mix 1 lb. of product with 1 gallon of clean water. Apply approx. 1 qt of solution per 250 sq ft. of area to be treated. The product will be left behind after the water evaporates.

Apply at a rate of 2 ounces per 100 square feet. In attics and crawlspaces, apply at a rate of 1 lb per 1000 square feet. Use a handheld bellows, bulb or puffer bottle type duster to apply a light, visible film. A power duster may also be used.

    Q
I need a quick/instant knock down spray for german roaches.
I have a pretty bad German roach problem. Which chemical has a quicker knock down for German roaches? Esfenvalerate or Cyfluthrin? I plan on alternating 2 or 3 different chemicals over the next year to get rid of them but I would like at least one chemical I purchase to be able to kill them quickly in case I run into any nests I am able to spray. I also plan to mix these chemicals with Pyridine when I use them and supplement with roach baits which I will also alternate throughout the year. I have one more question. Which aerosol spray do you recommend for instant knock down of German roaches?
    A

We would recommend using Cy-Kick Aerosol. It will provide a quick knockdown as well as a residual. Apply as crack and crevice or void treatment where insects may be harboring. These may include openings around pipes and sinks, under refrigerators, behind baseboards, washing machines, stoves, cabinets, sewers, floor drains, and meter boxes. Spot treatment may also be made to areas including closets, around water pipes, doors and windows, around refrigerators, cabinets, sinks, stoves and other equipment, shelves, drawers and similar areas.

We would also recommend using Maxforce FC Magnum. You will need to put this in areas that cannot be sprayed so that the gel does not get contaminated. Roaches will be less likely to eat it if it is contaminated.

We would also recommend using Gentrol Point Source as well. This is an IGR (insect growth regulator). It is a birth control for the roaches and will stop them from reproducing.

As an extra preventative, using dust within the walls will dry them out if they are there. Delta Dust Insecticide is a waterproof dust that lasts for at least eight months. It should be applied with a hand duster.

    Q
A small (~2MM) dark brown hard shelled bug, this time in brown rice.
This could be a duplicate of the same question from a few minutes ago. This pest has been a recurring problem over many years and across 4 states. We think we brought it in the first time in paprika. Control is difficult. We cleaned the area well, discarded any suspect packages of rice and pasta and sprayed with TALSTAR PRO at the ratio of 1 oz/gal. Is Talstar the correct product? How long should we wait before putting packaged food back into the area? What is this pest? Thank you
    A
There are very many pest this could be. It sounds like you are taking the necessary stepts needed, as for as, disgarding and cleaning items. Please email us at clear picture of the pest so that we can better assist you with a treatment plan. You can also contact us at 866-581-7378 as well.

    Q
What is best for Weevils in my kitchen
I recently discovered weevils in my kitchen. Sadly they were in almost every cabinet in my kitchen. They mainly nested underneath my stove and two cabinets. After spending two weeks taking everything out of my cabinets, vacuming, and cleaning, I have still seen a few come out. I had to destroy trim in my kitchen to get to their main nest. Before putting everyhing back and replacing the trim I want to use a product that will get to the eggs that i cannot reach or see to vacuum or clean. I also want a product that i can leave underneath the cabinets before I replace the trim. Then I have more peace of mind knowing that if any more come out or hatch they will have that there to take care of them or their eggs.
    A

Pantry pests such as weevils can usually be controlled by a thorough cleaning out of all infested products and scrubbing of the infested areas (pay special attention to cracks and crevices) and then applying a residual insecticide such as Cy-Kick Aerosol to the cracks and crevices and also an insect growth regulator such as Gentrol Point Source to the cabinets.  Unfortunately there is nothing that will affect the eggs in the way you have described, but the growth regulator will help stop the breeding process. It can take a couple of months to fully eradicate a pantry pest infestation.

    Q
Can I use Cy-Kick Aerosol to treat springtails in my car?
    A

Cy-Kick Aerosol is not specifically labeled for use in a car.  You should be able to treat for springtails in a car by vacuuming thoroughly and keeping the vehicle free of any moisture sources. Springtails need moisture sources to survive. You could also apply Steri-Fab to the upholstery/carpet for a contact kill. Allow to fully dry and ventilate prior to returning inside.

    Q
    Can I use Cy-Kick Aerosol - 17.5 oz. around a bathroom sink?
It appears we have springtails coming out of the sink drain in our bathroom. Since it can't be sprayed directly down the sink, where should we be spraying? If they aren't coming out of the drain, I don't know where they're coming from.
    A

Cy-Kick Aerosol - 17.5 oz. can be applied to the cracks and crevices around the vanity and underneath sink. We recommend to make sure there are no water leaks around that area that could be attracting the Springtails.

  • Asked by Ginger from Phoenix, Arizona

    Q
What to use for wide cracks across floor inside house?
Hi, i have very wide (1/8" - 1/4") cracks in the concrete inside my house. Once removing the carpet in the dining rm and den there are cracks from one side of the room to the other. We eventually will install Travertine over it. We have termites that came up from the crack and infested the cardboard around the Travertine tiles stacked up near it. We also have ants coming up the crack in the dining room and marching a very long line over to the cat food area. What can I use to spray in the cracks for ants and termites and what will happen once the tile is laid over the cracks? How do you get the aerosol product in the sections that the cracks are really small across the floor. We need a pet safe product. We bought Dominion to treat around the outside of the house but haven't dug the trench yet. I hope to do that this weekend before the 100 degree weather comes. (we are in Arizona) Thanks
    A
You can actually use the dominion to treat the crack. You will need to use a hammer drill (can be rented from home improvement store) to drill through the concrete to get the product to the soil. You can than use concrete patch to cover the holes.

Is Cy-kick better than D-Force for cigarette beetle? Which do you suggest?
    A
Both Cy-Kick Aerosol and D-Force work great for cigaretter beetles. To be honest either one will do a fantastic job. Cy kick seems to provide a longer residual. Be sure to review our Beetle control page.

    Q
Is cy-kick safe to use around gas water heaters?
Our bug problem seems to stem from the pantry/laundry room. Unfortunatly the water heater is in this room and is supplied by gas. Just wondering if it is safe to use in this area. This will be our first time using the product.
    A
Yes, CY Kick Aerosol would be fine to use in the closet. We would recommend turning the pilot light off while you are doing your application, then turning back on. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

  • Asked by Dj from Jamestown, Wi

    Q
It says not to apply Cy-Kick Aerosol on plastic, painted or varnished surfaces. Will it harm varnish or paint?
If there is any over spray when trying to apply behind baseboards will this affect any of the varnish or paint?
    A
Cy-Kick Aerosol does contain petroleum distillates which can harm some of these surfaces. You should spot test the product on small inconspicuous areas to test for staining or damage. We also carry a couple of water-based aerosols that will not damage any surface that would not be damaged by water itself such as Talstar Aerosol or Fireback Bedbug and Insect Spray.

    Q
What can I use to kill maggots in a storage room?
A rat died in a rat trap in there and now there are maggots.
    A

You will want to clean out the storage room completely, remove any dead rodents, and locate the source of the maggots. Next, you can apply Cy-Kick aerosol to cracks and crevices.  This will leave a residual that keeps on killing for several weeks.

    Q
What can I use with Cy-Kick for a Mosquito Barrier/Repellent for outdoors?
We are using Cy-Kick about 1x/month to kill spiders, ants, earwigs, wasps, etc... but have TERRIBLE mosquito issues (we're in North Carolina if that's relevant). Cy-Kick seems to be a highly recommended product and what's used by many pro companies. But I know there are some kinds of products that cannot be used in unison (bc they counter-act one another). We have a small yard (.25 acre), and have a dog (want to use chemicals that are safe for kids and pets). What can I use along with our Cy-Kick to supplement and repel mosquitos? Thanks!!!
    A
What you could do for mosquito treatment is first fog with the Fogmaster Jr. You could apply Riptide with the fogger which will inable you to treat the trees, shrubs, etc with a quick knock down. After you can come behind and apply the Cykick CS. This combination will knock down and help prevent mosquitos.

  • Asked by Julian from Louise, Ms.

    Q
What is the best DIY control for small roaches and beetles in the kitchen?
These small bugs are giving me fits in my kitchen area. However, I live in an older house with tons of cracks and crevices. I am an entomologist and work with a farm seed, chemical and fertilizer distributor. Some of my old tried and true remedies are not as effective as they used to be. Also, I deal mostly with field crop pests and not household insects.
    A
To treat for the beetles please see our Beetle Control page. You want to first use soap and hot water to clean down surfaces and cabinets. Then you can use Cy kick Aerosol in cracks and crevices. For roaches, we recommend using Maxforce FC Magnum. Which will be taken up and brought back to where the roaches may be coming from. Please be sure not to spray where you would be applying bait.
