    Q
    Inside alternative to Cyper WP
I have been using Cyper WP for pest control for years now. We just had hardwood floors installed and the Cyper WP leaves a white residue all over it. Is there a recommended inside alternative to Cyper WP I can use?
    A
Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It will dry clear and be a great alternative inside.

    Q
I noticed that you mention a white reside with Cyper WP on dark surfaces. Can you wipe it off?
I'm just wondering if wiping it off would cut down on effectiveness. I noticed a question (I believe with Demon WP) that stated that it shouldn't be scrubbed off of a deck, but that a hard rain shouldn't effect it.
    A
You can wash off the Cyper WP residue but you would also be wiping off the residual killing power. If you want to remove the residue it will take a brush and soap and water (not hard scrubbing, just a light scrubbing will do). Water alone will not wash it away. If a visible residue is a problem for you, you may want to consider going with one of our liquid concentrates such as Cy-Kick CS or Demand CS.

    Q
I just sprayed with Cyper WP to eliminate wasps and hornets. What should I see happening?
I just sprayed with Cyper WP around my house and deck. When I sprayed a couple nests with Cyper WP, it didn't seem to effect the wasps at that time. I came back about a half hour later, and I didn't see them around the nest (nor flying around the deck). It appears to have eliminated them. Is this what should happen? I guess that I would have expected the wasps to immediately drop when I sprayed them directly with the Cyper WP. Thank you!
    A
Cyper WP does not offer an instant knockdown even if it is sprayed directly on the wasp. Cyper WP will however kill the wasp after just a few minutes. What you saw happen is exactly the way the product was intended to work. If you want an immediate knock down you should choose a product that contains the active ingredient pyrethrins such as Wasp Freeze. Wasp Freeze will give an almost instant knockdown but will not give you residual protection

    Q
What product do you recommend for spiders in a crawl space?
What would you recommend to use to exterminate spiders in a crawl space under a double mobile home?
    A
We recommend Cyper WP. Cyper WP contains the active ingredient cypermethrin which is known to eliminate spiders better than most other products on the market. You can spray around the perimeter of the mobile home and also in the crawl space.

    Q
What insect might be responsible for small webs in my cabinets, around sink drains, etc. in my weekend house?
These are smaller-fibered and more dense and less organized than spider webs. Is there a chemical I can use to treat for these pests that is not harmful to people or pets? Also, we seem to have earwigs and those small, soft millipede-type things (these latter hang around in paper and books). What should I use to discourage these as well? We don't live in the house on a regular basis, but we use it during the summer and occasionally on weekends.
    A
Some species of spiders do make very odd webs and it is possible that you are in fact dealing with a spider. It is also possible that you are dealing with a stored product pest of some sort. You can set out glueboards in your cabinets and in the unused sinks to see if you can catch the insect that is making the webs. After you are able to catch and identify the insect we can help you select the appropriate treatment. We recommend Cyper WP for spiders, earwigs and other hard to kill insects. You should spray around the baseboards, door frames, window frames, places where utilities (cables, pipes, wires) enter into the structure, under appliances and in any other crack, crevice or void where insects can harbor. You can use the same product for outdoor control as well. Cyper Wp is safe to use around pets and people as long as they (except for the applicator) are out of the area while the spray is being applied and they can return as soon as the area is dry (about 1 hour).

    Q
Will Cyper WP kill Stink bugs?
    I live in Pittsburgh Pa.
    A
Yes. Cyper WP will kill stink bugs. The insects must land on the area that has been sprayed with Cyper WP to be killed. Cyper WP does not offer an instant knockdown but will instead take several hours to knockdown pests.

    Q
What products can we use to get rid of scorpions, roaches, mice and rats?
I am currently using a commercial pest defense company, and I want to start doing my own. We live in Phoenix, and our problem is scorpions, roaches and mice and rats. Can you recommend some products? We want to be aggressive when treating these specific problems.
    A

Are you having a problem with these pests indoors? Are you just starting preventative measures to make sure they do not become an indoor problem? Cyper WP would be the most versatile and most effective product for roaches and scorpions. Cyper WP can be used outdoors to help get rid of these pests before they make their way in and Cyper WP can be used indoors to help get rid of current infestations. If you have a roach infestation indoors you should also use a roach bait gel such as Advion Roach Bait Gel around counters, sinks, cabinets and drawers and you should add an IGR such Gentrol to the same gallon of water as you mixed the Cyper WP (IGR should be used indoors only.)

For outdoor rodent control you can use the tamper resistant Protecta Rat Bait stations with Contrac Blox . The stations should be placed around the perimeter of your home near areas where rodents can gain entry such as doors, vents, and utility lines that enter the structure. We do not recommend baiting indoors. If you have a current infestation you should use appropriate sized snap traps or glue boards.

It is important to not just rely on pesticides to do the entire job for you but instead to make changes to the immediate environment around your home to help control these pests. This includes moving trash cans to new locations, turning mulch, sealing holes or gaps that allow pests to gain entry into your home and so on. Please read our article titled Integrated Pest Management to learn more.

What is the shelf life for Cyper WP?
I have some Cyper WP I bought a few years ago and its still about half full. What is the shelf life for the product- or is it still usable?
    A
Cyper WP has a shelf life between 3-5 years. You want to keep stored in room tempature away from any moisture. Extreme tempatures can lessen the effectiveness.

    Q
How do I kill millipedes in and out of my home
They crawl in through a double door frame to my basement by the hundreds daily. The door is low lying so the area is nearly always moist.
    A
Millipedes are usually going to be present when there is a lot of moisture in the area. If you have a lot of mulch near your house you may want to consider raking it back at least six inches away from the house. Also trimming bushes so that you can see the soil beneath them and so they do not touch the house will help reduce soil moisture and stop the insects from gaining access to the house via the bushes.  We recommend using Cyper WP around the outside perimeter of the home (especially under and around eaves, decks, patios, and window shutters), and inside along baseboards, in cracks and crevices, and other potential millipede harborages. You should also use Delta Dust on and around the door frame as it will keep working even if it is wet. We have written an article with other tips that may help you with millipede control : Get Rid of Millipedes

    Q
Can this product be used with a hose end sprayer?
I understand the instructions of use with a canister sprayer. Can this product be used with a hose end sprayer, i.e. Ortho Dial 'N Spray, to cover a larger area quickly? I was specifically thinking to use it the hose end sprayer to create the 6-10 foot barrier around house. I thought the powder could be per-mixed with some water in the sprayer's container, thereby making a concentrate. Is that a viable approach? What would the application rate per gallon need to be?
    A
Cyper WP and other wettable powders are not generally great formulations to use in hose end sprayer because they can clog the sprayer and most hose end sprayers are not calibrated for use with wettable powders. Typically you would want to apply 1 gallon of diluted solution per 1000 square feet of yard.  Each gallon would have one scoop of Cyper WP.  So, if your yard was 2000 square feet, you would place two scoops of Cyper WP in the hose end sprayer, then fill the hose end sprayer to the 2 gallon mark with water.  This should apply one scoop per gallon of water over 1000 square feet.

    Q
Is Cyper WP effective on ladybugs? We are inundated with them.
    A
Yes. Cyper WP is a great choice for ladybug control. Because Cyper WP is a wettable powder formulation, the product will stay on the surface of the material that is sprayed making it easier for the ladybugs to receive a lethal dose. It may be necessary to spray once a month during the ladybug season for effective control.

    Q
Do you have to spray Cyper WP directly on black widows or will this kill them by residual contact?
Last summer in NM, I had TONS of black widows appearing in my yard. When I say tons, I mean every 3 to 4 feet along the fence/flower beds there would be another BW. All the "over the counter" stuff found in stores said it would only work with direct contact of the spider, so I would spend many summer nights spotlighting and spraying these spiders. Will Cyper WP allow me to just spray the fence and flowerbeds without having to hunt these critters down at night or am I just destined to stalk these things forever.
    A
Cyper WP will kill spiders and all other insects with its residual properties in addition to of course killing the spiders when applied on them as well.  The spiders will die quicker if you happen to spray directly on them when applying the product, but the residual the spiders pick up after the product is dry will also kill them, it just may take a little longer.

    Q
How often should I use Cyper wp or something else to spray and kill most bugs spiders and all indoors and out?
and outdoors Cyper Wp or something else?
    A
Cyper WP can be used indoors and outdoors for spiders and general pest control. Cyper WP is a wettable powder formulation which stands up well to moisture, heat and sun. When treating indoors be sure that all pets and other people are out of the application area and they can return as soon as the area is dry. The Cyper WP product label recommends 2 scoops of product per gallon of water, sprayed directly into cracks and crevices, under appliances, around door frames and window frames and in places where utilities (cables, pipes, wires) enter into the structure. Outdoors you should spray around the bottom of the foundation, on the ground adjacent to the foundation, door frames, window frames and places where the utilities enter into the structure.

Does Cyper WP have a fast knockdown effect on house flies? What the best product for fast knockdown of flies?
    A
While Cyper WP will kill any house flies that land on a surface that has been treated with it, there are some other products that may be better for your situation. Can you please tell us where you are trying to control the fly problem and what kind of property you have (ie: home, business, farm)? We may be able to give a more specific solution to your fly problem knowing more about your situation.

You can apply a barrier spray such as Cyper WP to the exterior of your home around door frames, window frames, around the foundation and any where pipes, cables or wires enter into the structure to help stop these pest insects from making their way into your home.

    Q
I need to know how to use Cyper WP with Permethrin SFR for Wasps.
I need to kill wasps on my property, and I plan on using Permethrin SFR mixed with Cyper WP. When mixing these two products together, should I use the recommended amount for each product as if I was using each product alone? I need a quick knock down from the Permethrin, but I also want a good residual from the Cyper WP. What are your suggestions for the amount of each product per gallon of water in a tank sprayer? Thanks!
    A
Permethrin SFR and Cyper WP are both very similar products, and we really do not think you should mix them together or need to. Cyper WP does have a slightly longer residual than Permethrin SFR, but it also has a fast knockdown just as good as the Permethrin SFR.  Typically, you would mix one ounce of Permethrin SFR with a gallon of water and one scoop of Cyper WP with a gallon of water (the Cyper WP comes with a scooper since it is a powder).
