They really work!
By Gloria on 01/28/2007
This was my second order for the Dekko Silverfish Packs. I remember many years ago having them and came upon an old packet (very old) and found the name of the company on it and the rest is history. I didn't get enough the first time so I got a bigger package this time. They really work. Thanks for the fast delivery.

Did not work for me
By Jennie on 08/02/2008
I found that the silverfish were breeding in the packs. The package says good for 3 months since date of packaging. Since there is no way to know when the package was made, it seems possible the ones I got had already deteriorated on the shelf. In any event, this is not the way to get rid of an infestation.

Works great!

Thanks for the tips on my previous order a while back - these Dekko Silverfish Packs work great and the granular bait worked great! We are doing some remodeling and found lots of bug carcasses - the basement is not nearly as scary a place anymore. Thanks again.

Wondering about the best treatment option? Can we use the demo safely if we put them in under sink cabinets and closets with doors? Don't want to poison my cats.

That's where I get silverfish. It's built-in but as you know, there's space around the sides and the flap on the bottom is easy to push through.
Dekko Silverfish Packs can be placed in closets, drawers, bookcases, in basement and dark hidden places inaccessible to children and pets. The Dekko Silverfish Packs can be used under and the sides of the dishwasher as long as the label instructions are followed and there are no moisture issues under the dishwasher.

I have one wall in the bedroom between a corner and a window that the tape joints have deteriorated and when I chipped at them with my finger a silverfish came out. What happens to the silverfish after they eat the Dekko Silverfish pack?

Any time a pet eats any type of insecticide you should contact your veterinarian. Be sure to have the product label ready as the veterinarian will need to know what ingredients were ingested by your pet. We always have all of the product labels available on our site for your convenience. Boric Acid, the active ingredient in the Dekko silverfish paks, has a low acute toxicity. Small amounts e.g., a teaspoon) swallowed accidentally are not likely to cause effects but you should still check with your vet.

Now after reading the reviews, I realize that I have very old wallpaper in my bathroom, so this means that the silverfish are feeding it. Should I remove all the wallpaper?

I recently discovered a booklice infestation in the first floor kitchen of my 2 story townhouse. They were along the oven wall, on the counters, and crawling on the floor coming from the oven. I vaccummed, wiped away any mositure/spills, and all food is kept in airtight containers. I had a small incident 2 years ago and took care of it with some dehumidifiers and have been keeping an eye out ever since. They seemed to have infested overnight. I've seen maybe 100 in two days. Ive also seen a few in my upstairs bathtub where I always use the exhaust fan to remove moisture. Are they affected by season/weather? I havent seen any all summer and now they're appearing in September? I'm scared to bring them with me when I move to Maryland. I've checked my plastic storage totes and have only found a few dead ones, none alive, and they were from kitchen items I had packed from downstairs in the kitchen. I do live in FL so it's always humid, but we use central a/c. Any information/help would be appreciated. I know all homes have booklice to a degree but I dont want to bring an infestation into my new home.
It sounds like you are dealing with silverfish rather than booklice. Booklice (psocids) are very small and would not usually be found in areas like you are describing. We have an identification guide here so you can see what silverfish look like. These insects are often found in moist areas and also stored paper goods like files, plus they can often seem like a large population appears overnight. A great product to use for silverfish in stored boxes, closets, etc. are Dekko Silverfish Paks. If you wanted to use something for just about any pest in storage totes or bags, then you could use NuVan ProStrips. You can also use a residual insecticide such as Bifen IT to treat cracks and crevices in the new home before moving everything in to help prevent these and other common insects from infesting your home. If you have photos of the insects you are finding, then we are happy to take a look. You can send them to us at [email protected].
