    Q
Is delta dust the best all around product for crawl space for spiders, crickets, earwigs, etc?
I am considering getting a b&g electric duster. I want something to do my crawl space, outside perimeter of house and the shed inside and outside perimeter. Right now I have a b&g bulb duster and Intice Granular Bait. The more I read it seems dust is the way to go. I really don't want to crawl any farther under the house than I have to, but I would like to kill every insect under there. We only have those insects listed above. I figure if I kill them all under the house and around out side perimeter they wont get in the house. Inside we get earwigs and spiders not many but 1 is more than we like. Question is, is that the way to go electric duster bulb duster and delta dust?
    A
The Delta Dust would be an excellent option to use with the B&G Electric Duster for attics, crawlspaces or other large areas. It covers all the insects you mentioned you are looking to control and many others, and is water proof so in protected areas like crawl spaces it will provide a good residual.

    Q
    Can delta dust lose potency?
    A
The shelf life of Delta Dust is 3 years from purchase date. It should still be effective during that time period, as long as it was properly stored in a dry moderate temperature area.
Delta dust can last up to eight months when applied to undisturbed areas. It is 100% waterproof, so moisture will not decrease the efficacy of the product after applied.

  • Asked by Paul from West Monroe, La
    10/01/2013
    Q
What is the best way to treat attic and fixtures for scorpions?
I also have a 8 month crawling. Is there any thing i put around the base boards that is not harmful to him since he a crawling around?
    A

Delta Dust is good to use as part of a scorpion control program and would be a great product to apply to the cracks and crevices in the attic. Delta dust can be applied using a hand duster directly behind baseboards, to window and door frames, corners, pipes, storage locations, attics, crawl spaces, and other areas which these pests may enter or crawl. We also recommend that you use a concentrated liquid insecticide such as Demon WP around the outside perimeter of your home to help create a barrier to keep these pests out. You should treat a band of soil 6 - 10 ft wide around and adjacent to the building. Also treat the building foundation to a height of 2 - 3 ft where pests are active and may find entrance. It is important that you do not rely on insecticides alone to control scorpions, you should also make some changes outdoors to make your property less favorable to this pest.

Non-insecticide methods for scorpion control are:

Harborage Removal- Harborage removal is key to scorpion control and will greatly reduce the numbers of scorpions in the area surrounding the structure, making it far less likely that they will enter. Harborage removal includes eliminating piles of lumber, bricks, and other stacked items that create clusters of tight spaces, elimination of vegetation and other heavy ground coverings near homes and buildings, trimming back tree and shrub limbs from walls and roof, and keeping gutters clear of leaves and other debris.

Exclusion- Scorpions and other pests can be kept out of structures to a large degree by installing tight-fitting screens, weatherstripping around doors and windows, and caulking cracks and crevices.

My pro pest company uses Delta dust in all the outlet and switches for roaches/pests but I see in your DIY video you use Maxforce bait.
My pro pest company uses Delta dust in all the outlet and switches for roaches/pests but I see in your DIY video you use Maxforce bait. Can you help me understand why to use one vs the other? It seems to me bait would be the better option as the pest would bring it back to the colony (assuming Delta dust doesn't work same "domino" kill way)
    A

Delta dust is commonly applied in areas like electrical outlets, light switch plates and other areas where you do not want to apply a liquid insecticide. It will last if left undisturbed for 6-8 months. Bait gel (including Maxforce Roach Bait Gel) can be applied in that area (if there is not any dust present) but should be applied every two weeks to maintain a fresh food source for the roaches. It is only labeled for roaches. Delta dust can eradicate many other listed insects including roaches. If you are mainly treating roaches, we suggest applying a liquid insecticide mixed with an IGR (insect growth regulator) and water and treat on the exterior of the structure and the interior cracks and crevices. Apply the bait gel in areas (where you have not sprayed) like the cabinets, under the sink, behind the toilet, above the door frames, etc. Apply dust in the wall voids, outlets, light switch plates, etc. Bait is applied every two weeks, dust is applied every 6-8 months, liquid soultion is applied every 30 days outside and every 90 days inside. Q
I have an apartment community and we will be treating in house. How many apartments would one bottle treat?
The apartments are approximately 1000 sq feet and this will be preventative.
    A
The amount of coverage Delta Dust Insecticide will cover depends on what you are treating for. We recommend if you are doing a bed bug treatment for example, to treat in wall voids. This application will go a fairly long way. One 1 pound bottle Delta Dust Insecticide will cover approx. 1000 square feet.

  • Asked by Deborah from Mobile, Al.

    Q
We have discovered a large yellow jacket nest in one corner of our attic which borders the outside wall. The nest is about 20 x15 inches. The nest is located in an area that overhangs our front porch. What is the best way to get rid of these pests?
    A

We recommend dusting the entry points of the nest with Delta Dust if you know where the nest is located inside the structure. Yellow Jacket treatments should always be conducted at nighttime, when the Yellow Jackets are the least active and least likely to sting. Please also wear protective clothing or a bee suit. Please read the article below for additional information on treating yellow jackets.

  • Asked by Isha from Nj

    Q
Can I use Delta Dust inside kitchen cabinets?
We moved into a new place a month ago and found out that it's kitchen is badly infested with carpet beetles we have a professional coming in to spray but I still keep finding them in side cabinets and in my pots and pans. I don't know how to get rid of them from cabinets without doing any kind of treatment inside them.
    A

We do not recommend treating inside the kitchen cabinets with Delta Dust or any insecticide dust as it could contiminate your utensils or food. When dealing with carpet beetles, it is very important to find and remove the source of the beetles to get rid of them for good. To learn more about carpet beetle elimination, please take a few minutes to read our article: Carpet Pest Beetle Control

    Q
Can I use Delta Dust in electrical outlets and light switches if months ago I had niban fg for silverfish?
Exterminators couldn't get rid of silverfish in condo. They sprayed & then put Niban in outlet plates but the bottle they used had traces of boric acid powder as it was previously used with boric acid. Does that affect Niban? So, if there's already Niban, can I also use Delta Dust? (I found many dead silverfish after using Niban, but after a couple of months I see live ones again.) Where else should I apply Niban or Delta?
    A
We do not recommend applying Delta dust where you are currently using a bait like Niban. Since, you said you used Niban Months ago, we do not see an issue with applying Delta dust in wall voids. You may also want to use Dekko Silverfish packets to treat for Silverfish.

    Q
    Safe for pregnant women?
Delta Dust is listed as an insecticide that is used in my workplace for quarterly pest control. If they do not spray in my office, is it still safe to walk in the hallways or other offices that were treated?
    A
Absolutely! You can frequent areas that have been treated with Delta Dust without any cause for concern. However, you would want to make sure that you are out of the treatment area while the application is being performed. Once the application is complete, it is perfectly safe to return to the treated area as long as it has been used according to the product label.

    Q
Will Delta dust kill cicada-killer wasps that burrow in the ground?
There was one hole in the ground two years ago that has now grown into about 20 holes. When it warms up, it will look like a navy jet base in my back yard.
    A
Cicada Killer wasps thrive in disturbed environments, such as landscaped yards and places where bare soil is exposed. You can discourage the wasps from nesting in your yard by cutting your grass on the highest setting and by adding a thick layer of mulch to flower beds during the Cicada Killer Wasp season. These wasps do not like over saturated lawns either, so over watering during their season will help prevent them. Unfortunately, there is no fool proof way to prevent cicada killer wasps. For current infestations, you would need to use Delta dust in each individual burrow.

Will this help against "Homoeosoma nebulella a.k.a Sunflower moth". Please need help ASAP.
I did research and found my sunflowers have sunflower moth and I want to know if this product would help me. Also I would like any other insecticide recommendation to fight off sunflower moth. Thank You
    A
We would recommend to use Dipel Dust and applywhen the flowers begin to shed pollen; this is when the eggs of the moths have hatched and the larvae are beginning to grow but before the seeds have formed. You can apply early morning or late afternoon to minimize bee exposure.
