To understand how Demand CS works you must first know what it is. Demand CS is a microencapsulated water-based formulation offering superior insect control. Compared to older pyrethroid materials that have been used for many years with declining results, it is up to 200 times more active on flies and other animal health pests allowing lower rates. And it’s designed not only to work better, but to work longer. Demand CS controls over 30 insect pests including: Ants, Bees, Carpet Beetles, Centipedes, Cigarette Beetles, Cockroaches, Confused Flour Beetles, Firebrats, Fleas, Ticks, and more.
Demand CS combines an advanced generation pyrethroid with a unique capsule suspension formulation for outstanding protection against numerous perimeter insect pests.
Once the formulation has been applied and dried, lambda-cyhalothrin, the active ingredient, is released from the capsules. Control will occur primarily through direct contact of the insect pest with the capsules, with lambda-cyhalothrin transferring directly from the capsule to the cuticle of the insect. It is also possible for the capsules to be ingested in the case of insect pests which preen themselves such as cockroaches.

Excellent product
By Eric on 06/09/2009
We live at the base of the McDowell Mountains in North Scottsdale where crickets, spiders and scorpions are everywhere. I applied Demand CS right before sunset and the following morning it looked like an atomic bomb went off in my yard. Dead crickets, black widow spiders, cockroaches and last but not least the follow evening a slowly dying scorpion in our bedroom that accidentally crossed the wrong path. In nearly three weeks since we applied the product, I have yet to see ONE single cricket, spider, or cockroach. Great product!

Great stuff!!
By Lauren on 04/29/2010
We own a log home and have been plagued by carpenter bees. We have tried several other products: powders, liquids, professional and home store strengths and this is by far the best! It is non staining and easy to apply with a garden pump sprayer. After application, we watched the bees hover a minute and then decide to take up residence somewhere else. Those that stuck it out, were dead in the morning. It is almost instantaneous! We also applied it to our barn and found it killed bugs that we didn't even know we had a problem with. Try this product= it works!!!

This is magic!
By Steve on 09/04/2008
Bought a neglected house with roaches all over the yard. After spraying 24 gallons of Dursban over a two month period I was still seeing too many roaches to count at night. I put Demand CS down and the next morning had over 60 dead roaches, 30+ more the following day and in 1 month and only 2 applications I'm down to 1 or 2 a day outside (dead) and none inside in a month. I've been outside at 11pm on hot nights and not seen one live roach! This is magic.

Ants, crickets, and roaches no more...
By Gregory on 04/15/2009
We have tried several pest control companies to eradicate our recurring summer sewer roach problem to no avail. When the city treats the sewer drains and manholes, the roaches come into our yard and house. We also live in an area with crickets and tiny black ants. Nothing seemed to stop everything until we tried Demand CS. I read the label carefully and found that the strongest wipe out dose was for scorpions. I carefully measured, mixed, and sprayed the yard, block wall, foundation, windows and doors. The next morning was like a nuclear winter. Dead roaches, ants, and crickets everywhere. Our gardener cleaned them up like leaves. We now use the maintenance dose every three months and have not had a pest in a year. Awesome Stuff!!!

Kills fleas
By Sarah on 12/29/2006
Demand CS Insecticide should only be applied as directed. Here is the product label with full application instructions for interior, crack and crevice structural pest treatments at 0.2-0.4 oz (6-12 ml) per gallon of water using a pump sprayer.
I have home team pest defense come here in Florida every quarter. It’s about $600 a year and every quarter they spray and I don’t have cockroaches or anything in the house. My two problems are cockroaches and spiders in Florida so does this work on the outside foundation around windows and doors, etc like when they spray? I won’t be using it inside.
Demand CS Insecticide can be used outside along window/door frames, foundation, and ornamentals. Demand CS can be applied every 90 days indoors and every 30 days outdoors for general pest control applications at a rate of 6-12 ml per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions
We would not recommend mixing Demand CS Insecticide with another insecticide such as Bifen. There are no benefits from mixing the two products together. Instead, we would recommend alternating the two products. You can alternate spraying between the two every 30 days
I have earwigs, pillbugs, millipedes, and ants I want dead.
I would like to treat outside our home for white flies, and mosquitoes, and no see ums. Is this a good choice for all three, and what is the mix rate per gal of water in a pump-up sprayer?
Demand CS Insecticide is one of our most popular general-use products. It is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets. It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one-gallon hand pump sprayer. Demand CS is a water-based professional, microencapsulated liquid made to stick to porous surfaces. The microencapsulation allows for a longer residual up to 90 days and better protection from UV rays and rain. It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes, and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf-eating pests.
Demand CS Insecticide is applied at 0.8 fl oz in 2 gallons of water per 1000 sq ft for residual control per the product label. It is recommended to use 0.8 fl oz in at least 2 gallons of water to ensure full coverage foliar spray is achieved.
If treating 1 acre, you will use 34.5 fl oz Demand CS in at least 88 gallons of water. Residual control is 30 to 45 days.
Please review more information at the top of page 4 on the product label regarding mosquito treatments and our Mosquito Treatment Guide for tips.
Demand CS Insecticide is labeled for mosquitoes and since the formulation is microencapsulated, the active ingredient sits on the foliage or surfaces a bit better. Please review our Mosquito Treatment Guide for more information on a complete Mosquito Treatment Program.
If you are referring to Demand CS that was manufactured and is being applied in the United States, then currently on the product labels it can be applied in a residential area as a perimeter barrier. However, we can not speak on a product that was manufactured or being applied in Canada. Recently the EPA has designated lambda as an increased environmental risk and therefore they have prohibited it from being used in any residential lawn and turf settings moving forward. It is always recommended to follow your label instructions.
Can Delta Dust be sprayed from a wet sprayer? Can it be mixed in the tank with Demand cs to be sprayed at the same time?
Demand CS Insecticide should not be mixed with Delta Dust. Delta Dust should not be mixed with water as it is a dry dust application only.
One q and a says not to mix Bifien and demand CS together. Then how long would one wait between spraying each? Why?
Demand CS Insecticide and Bifen should not be mixed together as they would counteract each other. You wouldn't need to apply both in the same month. You could rotate them once a month but not use them together.
I have a lot of turtles (and frogs) in my yard. I do not want to harm them. I see answers about no harm to frogs but what about turtles?
Demand CS Insecticide is safe to use around animals as long as they are out of the area while you are spraying, they can return as soon as the area is dry. Although The Demand CS Insecticide is safe once it's dried, you do not want to apply directly to water, to areas where surface water is present, or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Drift and run-off from treated areas may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in neighboring areas.
I’ve used Demand CS for my outdoor patio, building perimeter, cement walkways, mulch bed, and grass areas it has worked great. However this year I have a garden planted and I’m concerned about runoff or contamination of my vegetable garden. I have an issue with American roaches, earwigs, ants, beetles,
Depending on the distance of your edible garden to the home, mulch beds, etc, you can block overspray with insecticides using a plastic tarp or cardboard. Avoid spraying on windy days where spray drift would occur and when rainfall is not expected for atleast 24 hrs.
For the edible garden itself, we do carry Cyonara Lawn and Garden, which is labeled for several different vegetable plants and contains the same active ingredient as Demand CS.
Yes, Demand CS Insecticide is labeled to control both fleas & ticks. However, our Outdoor Flea and Tick Kit would be a better choice. Demand only controls those fleas & ticks that come in contact with the residual, while Temprid leaves a residual that they take back with them
Is there a more cost effective alternative to Demand CS? My target is primarily mosquitoes and ticks, and I need something for the higher heat months (the Bifen products don't last quite so long in higher temperatures) so I need it to be micro-encapsulated for longevity. Something without a horrible smell would be good too, I've used Cyonara before and that's tough. Thank you
