    Q
Can D-Force Insecticide be used on grass to treat for spiders? Will this hurt rabbits that eat the grass?
    s.
    A

D-Force Insecticide can only be used outdoors on the exterior surfaces of the structure. This can be used on outdoor surfaces such as screens, window frames, eaves, porches, patios, garages, etc. This cannot be used in lawns for insects.

For Spider control in lawns, we would recommend using a general purpose insecticide concentrate like Talstar P as a broadcast application to the lawn as well as treating bushes, trees, shrubs, etc. Talstar P is mixed at 0.5 to 1 fl oz per gallon of water per 1000 sq ft. Please view the product label for more information.

    Q
    Clothes Moths and Plaster Bagworms
Is this the correct product to use for clearing Clothes Moths and Plaster Bagworms?
    A

The D-Force Insecticide is labeled for clothes moths, but not for plaster bagworms. We would recommend you use the ProPest Pheronet Clothes Moth Traps. These traps will lure and kill webbing cloth moths, the most common type of clothes moth. This product is best used in conjunction with a crack and crevice aerosol to treat under and around baseboards and door frames in the infested area.

Also, according to a University of Florida Extension article on clothes moths and plaster bagworms, a great product to use for this would be Tempo SC Ultra. You also want to be sure that you are removing any and all spider webs that may be in the area as well as the old bagworms casings which are food sources for the bagworms.

    Q
Will D-force work inside a car infested with bird mites and if not what will? Which IGR works for bird mites?
    A

While D-Force is labeled for use in cars, it is not labeled for bird mites. A thorough vacuuming and steam cleaning or shampooing of the fabric will remove and kill most of the population that may have entered the car. If the car has been parked under a tree where birds are roosting, you may want to park it in a different spot if possible. Remove any nests that you can from the area to reduce reinfestation of the car from the environment.

    Q
Does D-Force HPX work for millipedes?
I think I have millipedes. They are around my basement baseboards and are black, thin worms about 1/2" long and usually found dead and curled into a coil. However, I can't see any legs on them so I wonder if they are really millipedes.
    A

D-Force HPX is not specifically labeled for millipedes. You will want to make sure that this is the insect that you are treating for first. You can get a pest identification from your local cooperative extension office. We do carry products that can be applied to eradicate millipedes.

    Q
Is it safe to use D-force when pregnant? I am currently in my third trimester (8 months pregnant).
    A
D-Force is a very safe product, but the smell may be an issue since pregnant woman typically have heightened senses.  You may want to have someone else apply the product and return after the smell has subsided.  Once the product has dried there should be no issues with being in the area that was treated.  These products are only strong enough to kill tiny insects.

    Q
How do I get rid of carpet beetles? I have two small children and a cat.
We have seen them in the kitchen and master bath on the linoleum, and have been vacuuming the carpet every few days. I have also sprayed the outside of the house around the doors and windows with an over the counter Bayer product.
    A
The main thing you should do is a thorough inspection to see if you can find any infested items. If you do find infested items it will be necessary to thoroughly clean the area or dispose of the infested item and treat the cracks and crevices with a residual spray such as D-Force HPX. You can learn more about carpet beetles by reading our article Carpet Beetle Pest Control

  • Asked by Kereena from Canada

    Q
Can we use D-Force HPX to kill bed bugs while traveling?
We'll be doing extensive travelling in Europe, frequenting different hotels and hostels as we go. Not all accommodations are well reviewed and we don't know of a website that tracks bed bug infestations in the countries we're going to. We are looking for a product that will kill bed bugs on contact and will offer us some protection for at least two or three days before we move on. Would you recommend D-Force HPX for this, or another product?
    A
You can use D-Force HPX when traveling to help with bedbugs but you should not rely on the product as your only defense. D-Force HPX, like most other insecticides, takes time to kill off bedbugs that contact treated areas and will not be able to prevent 100% of bedbug bites. Bedbugs that are sprayed directly should die within a very short amount of time. You should thoroughly inspect each place you will be staying for bedbugs or evidence of bedbugs. If you do see a current infestation you should ask to be put in a different room or stay in a different hotel. Please take a few minutes to read our article How to Avoid Bedbugs in Hotels.

    Q
Does D-Force work for Carpenter bee holes in wood and what would you recommend for knocking down the male bee?
    A
D-Force HPX will eliminate carpenter bees in their holes. D-Force HPX does not offer an instant knockdown and the bee will die within a few hours of contact. We recommend that you use a concentrated liquid insecticide such as Equil Lambda 9.7 on the exterior of your home to eliminate any other carpenter bees that may fly into the area in search of a place to drill a hole. By spraying the wood you would help prevent furture damage from carpenter bees. The male carpenter bees do not cause damage and they cannot sting but they will be eliminated if they land on any treated area.

    Q
Can this product be used with Gentrol for cigarette beetles? If yes, which one is applied first?
    A
Yes, D-Force HPX can be applied with Gentrol IGR. We would recommend using the Gentrol IGR first and letting it dry. The residual is 4 months with this product so you do not have to use this every time you are spraying for the cigarette beetles. D-Force HPX has a residual of up to 8 weeks. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
