    Q
Is Dimension 2EW Herbicide safe to use on St. Augustine lawns? What is the coverage area?
Also, when is the appropriate time to apply in the central Texas area? We've ordered from you before, do you have any special discounts at this time? Thanks.
    A

Yes, Dimension 2EW is safe to use on well established St. Augustine lawns. What season you need to begin applications and usage rate will depend on what you are treating. Pages 4 and 5 of the Dimension 2EW Herbicide Label  gives you the 3 different options for treatments programs. As for discounts, we do run periodic specials and coupons which we email to our customers that have signed up to receive coupons from us and we always offer a low price guarantee and free shipping.

    Q
How soon after using Dimension 2EW can I seed my lawn?
    A
Since Dimension 2EW is a pre-emergent, you have to wait at least 3 to 4 months before re-seeding your lawn.  Pre-emergents of course will not allow anything trying to germinate to progress, so the grass seeds will not germinate until the Dimension 2EW is gone from the lawn.

    Q
Can this product be used with Ortho Dial n Spray and at what dial setting per gallon of water?
How many oz., tsp, or tbls per gallon of water? This is to treat annual bluegrass and crabgrass. Thanks
    A
You can use a hose end sprayer to apply this product, but we are not familiar with the Ortho model so we do not know what specifics to give you.  As far as application rates, we wish it was that easy.  Bluegrass and Crabgrass require slightly different treatments and also depend on where you live and what grass you have currently that you are trying keep them out of, which you did not state.  Also, herbicides do not give a water amount.  They only tell you how much of the product to apply over 1000 square feet.  The amount of water is dependent on how ever much water it takes for you to walk 1000 square feet.  Whether you place the amount of product per 1000 square feet in a gallon of water or 10 gallons of water, it does not matter, just as long as that amount of product is distributed over the 1000 square feet.  Since you are treating two different types of grasses, we recommend calling the manufacturer since they are the experts on their own product and could probably give you a more definitive answer than we can.  They should also be able to better help you with the settings on your hose end sprayer.  The manufacturer is Dow Agro and you can reach them at 1-317-337-3000.

    Q
Once applied, how long after applying Dimension can we leave the pets outside on the lawn?
    A
As soon as Dimension 2EW has dried on the lawn it is safe to allow pets back on the lawn.  This depends on how hot it is, but most of the time 1 hour is plenty long enough for the solution to dry.

    Q
What is the best product to kill sandburs?
I have read a pre-emergent herbicide is the best is that true?
    A

To prevent sandburs you should apply Dimension 2EW Herbicide as a pre-emergent in the late fall. Be sure to read over the product label for complete instructions. Sandburs are easier to prevent than to try to get rid of once they have invaded your yard.

Does Dimension need to be watered in after applying.

  • Asked by Anita from Rodanthe, Nc Is Where Bermuda Grass Is
    01/16/2013
    Q
What do you have in the way of pre-emergent specifically for Bermuda grass?
    A
Our two most popular pre-emergents for use on established Bermuda grass are Dimension 2EW and Barricade 65WG. Both products do a great job but we recommend checking out the product label on each product to so see which one is labeled to target the weeds you usually have issues with. The product labels are available at each of the links provided in this answer.

  • Asked by Jaime from Bandera Tx.
    01/30/2013
    Q
What are the ratios for Dimension 2EW?
I bought this from you. I feel like I need an interpreter. We want to use in a one gallon hand sprayer. What is the ratio of liquid to water we should use
    A

Herbicides are a lot different than other concentrated products and can be hard to understand at first. The application rate depends on the the type of turf you have and how quickly you apply the product.  You will need to read the product label to determine the correct usage rate for your needs (you did not give us any information about the type of lawn, region or application program you will be using so we cannot give you exact rates). The amount of water used to apply Dimension herbicide is not critical, but should be sufficient for uniform coverage of the target area. Calibrate by determining the volume of water required to treat 1,000 square feet. Use this calibration volume to determine the amount of water and Dimension herbicide needed to treat the target area (see the following calibration example). Note: Sprayer calibration (volume of spray needed to treat 1,000 square feet) will vary with each individual operator.
    Steps in Calibration:
    1. Mark an area of 1,000 square feet (i.e. 20 by 50 feet or 25 by 40 feet).
    2. Place the sprayer on a level surface and add water noting the final level of water in the spray tank.
    3. Spray the marked area with a sufficient volume of water to provide uniform coverage. Refill the sprayer to the same level as before measuring the amount of water added. The measured water added to the sprayer is the volume needed to cover 1,000 square feet.
    4. Determine the application rate (0.073- .55 fl. oz./1,000 sq. ft.) for Dimension from the Recommendations section of this label.
    5. To each volume of water used as measured in step 3, add the amount of Dimension as determined in step 4.
Example: If the sprayer uses 1 gallons of water to cover 1,000 square feet and the desired application rate of Dimension is .55 fluid oz./1,000 square feet, then you would add .55 fluid ounces of Dimension to every 1 gallon of water to be used."

If you still find you need help figuring out the correct usage rate (we know this label is confusing) please don't hesitate to call us and let one of our customer service representatives help you 866-581-7378 (M-F 9-5 EST)

  • Asked by Gary from Newton, North Carolina
    02/11/2013
    Q
Is there any benefit to alternating Barricade and Dimensions2EW every other month in North Carolina foothills?
We have had much difficulty controlling crabgrass and dallis grass. I understand they are different. Just looking for the best combination of pre-emergents.
    A
Barricade and Dimension are actually in the same class of herbicides which means they work with the same mode of action and there would be no benefit to switching between them. We would recommend Barricade because it lasts longer and you will get great control with just Barricade. If you have current weeds (though you should be ahead of the game at this date) try Monument, it will do a great job.

  • Asked by Matt from Edison Nj
    04/19/2013
    Q
Can I apply Dimension and Spectracide or other 2,4-d product simultaneously?
I would traditionally apply Spectracide Weed Stop for my spring weeds. Can I apply Dimension 2EW at the same time, possibly even mixed? I don't believe Dimension runs a risk of stressing the lawn, but I wasn't sure if this would be too much.
    A
We are unfamiliar with the Spectracide product so we are not sure if this application would be okay. We recommend contacting the Dimension manufacturer directly for more information. You can reach Dow by calling 800-992-5994.

  • Asked by Peter from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
    05/21/2013
    Q
Which pre emergent is best for nutsedge.
Every year i have problem with nutsedge. Can you recommend a good pre emergent herbicide.
    A
As far as we know, there are no products that exist that control nutsedge as a pre-emergent. The Dimension is one of our best pre-emergents for crabgrass and other broadleaf weeds but will not work for your needs. You would need to use a post emergent product like Sedgehammer to control the nutsedge once it has come up.
