    Q
I am going to plug my lawn with Zoysia grass. What do you recommend as a pre-emergent for grass and weeds?
I found products to spray on after plugging but I have to wait at least a month. Do you have anything to spray on before I plug?
    A
We checked with several industry experts and they all came back wiht the same answer "there is not anything labeled for residential use that can be used prior to plugging or sodding for pre-emergent control". We are sorry we could not be of more help!

    Q
How many times will the 1/2 gallon jug of Dimension 2EW Herbicide cover a 3/4 acre lot?
    A
How many times the Dimension 2EW will cover that area will depend on what region of the country you live in, what turf you are spraying on, and what weeds you are trying to control. For example: If you are in the South: AL, AR, GA, LA, MS, NC, NM, OK, SC, TN, TX-but not in the regions right on the coast, you would use 1.5 pints per acre, which breaks down to roughly .55 ounces per 1000 sq/ft. You will typically mix this .55 ounces in no less than 2 gallons of water per 1000 sq/ft. At this rate, the 1/2 gallon jug of Dimension would cover 3/4 of an acre almost 4 times as you would be using 16.5 ounces per 33 thousand square feet. You can refer to page 5 of the Dimension Product Label for specific usage instructions.

  • Asked by Kevin from Goldsboro, Nc
    07/02/2013
    Q
For Mid-Atlantic Region (NC), what is the best time of year to spray for Annual Bluegrass with Dimension 2EW?
    A
For pre-emergent control of Annual Bluegrass you will normally treat 2-3 times to fully control it throughout the year. For Southern zones like NC, you would do a fall application by Oct 1st and for spring you would do a second application between February and March 15th at the latest. Dimension will only control Annual Bluegrass as a pre-emergent so you will need to make sure the area is free of the currently growing vegetation. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Asked by Manny from Escondido, Ca
    08/08/2013
    Q
I planted Tall Fescue seed this last April (Late) and had nice looking yards in front and back.
However, the crabgrass and other weeds took over. I waited until the yard got established (28 days) to start spraying and killing! I used 2,4D and have been using Drive XLR8 to kill the crabgrass. Now I have about half a lawn left! I live in San Diego inland Climate 10 where it gets in the low 90s some summer days. Usually in the mid 80s. I want to overseed the tall fescue this fall (Fall is the best time to plant fescue and other cool season grass) but I want to apply a crabgrass pre emergent. When would you suggest I treat for crabgrass and plant my seed? I plan on seeding mid to late October. Thanx for your help!
    A

    According to the product label:

    Reseeding, Overseeding, or Sprigging
Reseeding, overseeding, or sprigging of treated areas within 3 months after a single application of this product, or within 4 months after a split application program totaling more than 0.73 oz per 1000 sq ft (2 pints per acre), may inhibit the establishment of desirable turfgrasses.
    Late Summer or Fall Application:
This product can also be applied in the late summer or early fall (late August through November) at the Program 3 use rates listed in the table below. A fall application followed
by an appropriately timed spring application provides season-long weed control. Do not exceed the maximum use rate per year. For Poa annua control see Section titled “Poa annua (Annual Bluegrass) Control” below.
    Program 3:
Use Program 3 for preemergence control in turf: (a) where turfgrass is cut relatively low (e.g., golf fairways); and (b) where turf maintenance or weed control was not conducted during the previous year. This program provides 4 to 6 months of preemergence crabgrass control and may also be used for early postemergence control up to crabgrass tillering at sites where turfgrass is cut relatively low (e.g., golf fairways). Make subsequent, sequential pre and/or postemergence applications where longer periods of control are desired. Split applications may also be made, with the rates in the Use Rates table being split across two
applications made 5 to 10 weeks apart. Split applications may provide improved weed control.

  • Asked by Philip from Frederick, Md
    01/30/2014
    Q
    Surfactant?
The directions say ounces is that weight or volume measure? I assume volume because we are dealing with a liquid but I thought is ask to be sure. Thank you. Also, would I apply Dimension with a surfactant? Can you recommend a fan-pattern nozzle to apply Dimension? I am uncertain what rate per minute is best for applying herbicides on lawns (I only use my sprayer on my lawn)
    A
In general an ounce of liquid is a measure of volume and an ounce of a solid is a measure of weight. Yes, it is recommended to mix Dimension 2EW with a surfactant which may improve control. Most nozzels are only compatable with the same manufacturer as the sprayers and since I am not sure what Brand and model sprayer you have I am unable to recommend a suitable fan spray nozzel. Also, herbicides do not give a water amount.  They only tell you how much of the product to apply over 1000 square feet.  The amount of water is dependent on how ever much water it takes for you to walk 1000 square feet.  Whether you place the amount of product per 1000 square feet in a gallon of water or 10 gallons of water, it does not matter, just as long as that amount of product is distributed over the 1000 square feet.

  • Asked by Mark from Virginia
    02/22/2014
    Q
What is the shelf life of Dimension 2EW?
I purchased a jug of dimension 2EW last March and today when I got ready to take it out of the locker the chemical properties appeared to have separated. Bronze colored liquid at top 2/3 of the jug and a thicker, pasty looking white colored substance in bottom 1-2 inches. Is the product still good. I tried to shake it but it did not seem to mix well again.
    A
The shelf life on most liquid herbicides (including Dimension 2EW) all depends on how they are stored. If the product has been tightly sealed and kept out of sunlight and extreme temperatures, the shelf life is 3-5 years.

  • Asked by Jeff from Az
    03/07/2014
    Q
Can pets be exposed to treated areas with Dimension 2EW after it rains?
You mention it is safe to allow pets in the yard after Dimension dries. Was this referring to the initial application of the herbicide/water mixture and not the equivalent of 1/2" of rain required to activate/spread the herbicide? In other words, should animals be kept away from the yard until after the "soaking process" has dried out. This would seem to take a few days possibly. BTW, thanks for all these Q and As; very helpful.
    A
The pets need to be off the lawn after the initial application of Dimension 2EW until the product completely dries. After the first initial rainfall dries, the pets can re-enter the treated areas also. After that the product will not reactivate. Please let us know if you need anything else.

  • Asked by Derek from Oklahoma
    03/17/2014
    Q
Can I mix Dimesion with another weed killer such as 2-4-D or RoundUp?
I have always used a pre-emergent on my Bermuda grass yard in the past years and it has worked on a lot of other weeds, but not slowed my crab grass down any. I want to try Dimension on my yard because I have read some really good reviews on it. In years past I have always used my pre-emergent and mixed it with RoundUp in the early spring to knock down the early weeds that have already sprouted. Can I do the same with Dimension?
    A
Yes, Dimension can be tank mixed with a variety of other herbicides and fertilizers. It is always recommended to do a test mix first to make sure whatever product you are wanting to use with the Dimension blends easily and does not cause clumping or any reaction that would cause your equipment to clog.

    Q
How Safe is Dimension crabgrass control for young children? What precautions do you recommend
    A
Dimension 2EW is safe for children as well as pets when used correctly. You would want to keep children out of the treated area while you perform your application and allow it to dry completely. Once fully dry, it is perfectly safe for children to re-enter the treated area.
